- Drag racing... so many ups and downs when it comes to drag racing. Some ups and a lot of downs is exactly what happened last weekend for the first points race of the year. The weekend started off strong with my supercharged 1971 Chevy Nova destroying its previous personal best record! The air and conditions were just right and I cannot believe this little small block Chevy is inching it's way to the 9's!
We struggled during eliminations which is expected while learning a new set up... but luck wasn't on our side either. However, I learned A LOT about the car and how consistent it will be this year! As long as I do my job on the starting line, I believe we can be very tough to beat. Only up from here!

I've always enjoyed looking at the numbers on the time slips. Tough weekend for you, but you're learning. Some good reaction times. For me, driving the big end has always been the hardest. Get all the seat time you can & good luck in the future!
Those weekends be like that sometimes. Looks to me though you've got a hotrod. And you're close now. It'll be dialed before you know it.
Thank you sir!
Nova launched like a beast! It's good you made some passes and got more data. Good luck on the next one. By the way what were the engine temps like with the E85 compared to the gas?
Thank you! 🙌🏻 it’s running much cooler now. I’d like to throw a Racepak on it and data log real numbers. For now, using a heat gun the EGT’s idle around 320* each cylinder where they used to idle around 390*. After a pass, I used to not be able to touch the supercharger for awhile but now you can hold your hand on it. I would guess around 100-120 degree intake temps!
That new PB is nice ! Kind of a bummer how long it can take to get a car dialed in. Again very nice looking car and running well. Sorry if I asked before, what does it weigh ?
We’ll get it all sorted, just takes some seat time! Car weighs right at 2900 with me in it!
Man that’s awesome! We just got ours on the can and we are going to test it out this weekend. What trans and shifter is that? We run a glide but would love to go back to 3 speed but I didn’t think there was an auto electric shifter for them
It’s a th400 trans! And I’m surprised that nobody makes an electric shifter for a 400 yet… so mine is shifting with air. It’s a Precision Performance shifter out of Idaho!
Hi it seems to me the white car green came on first before your green
That’s correct! Bracket racing. The slower car will leave before me and I have to try and catch it before the finish line but not go faster than what my car is predicted to run
@PLANBRACING ok thanks
Better luck on your Club race
Thank you!
Nice Nova. I might be totally wrong here, but it looks like the left rear is hopping on launch. Maybe dial in a little more compression damping. Great videos. Go get a win soon. 🏁
Definitely messing with some rear shock settings with the added power! Thank you 🙌🏻 we’re trying again this weekend
How much does your nova weigh
Right at 2900lbs with me in it
What I can't understand .. Is why ANYONE WOULD SPEND THAT KIND OF MONEY ON A ROOTS BLOWER FOR A 10 SECOND SBC . unless it was a gift that cost him zero dollars .
Why wouldn’t people spend the money on a roots blower? It’s a literal bolt on that doesn’t require any wiring, any plumbing of piping or oil lines and took my low compression SBC from the low 12’s naturally aspirated, into nearly the 9’s… count me in.
