Love the Mavericks, fun little cars. My buddy had one, we junked the 6 cyl and slid in a H.O. 302 w/5-speed from an old 90's fox body. Intake, trick flows, dumped exhaust ect... One day we were leaving the gas station, I was in the back another guy was with us and he had brought some beers. My buddy asked him to wait till we got home to open one. Other guy said no, craked open the beer and began chugging. My buddy slams the car in to 1st and dumps the clutch, throwing me back in to the seat and sliding sidways out in to the street. At the same time the other guy procedes to dump his entire beer all down his face and shirt! With an appropiate screaming WTF!? We were laughing so hard we almost cashed in to a telephone pole. Ah the good old days 😂😂😂
Another cool Maverick, love that it's running a strong pushrod SBF. Gotta respect what little 302 Windsors can do. Wheels up and running records with factory iron heads and 600 carb! Keep up the cool Ford vids Evan
I own a maverick grabber 1972 grabber yellow. I've owned it for 34 years.i think the maverick grabber is a beautiful looking car . thanks for showing a maverick grabber
My buddy's old man bought a brand new Grabber. 302 4 speed, blue/flat black. Right out of the showroom he changed the cam, intake and added headers. Mr. M drove it respectably but when his son drove it he beat the crap out of it. I remember it like it was yesterday. Good times. 👍
I had a yellow 72 Comet GT with a 302, made changing plugs a real chore with those stock shock towers. First car I ever owned to see daylight under the from tires!!
My buddy Rick Dahmer had one , & he had a roller cammed , twin nitrous setup 302 small block and he ran 10.5’s on our local tracks here back in the mid to late 1980’s . That car was Fast , & surprised a ton of guys who lined up against him thinking they would put him on a trailer . Rick could bang gears like nobody I have ever ridden with either , very quick & smooth. Aaaaah , the good ole days ..😎👍
Awesome coverage on this fantastic wheel standing 1971 Grabber Maverick Ford Super Stock drag car. Evans, as always. Hands Down the best Ford coverage on U-Tube.
another marvelous Maverick!!! theyre such good looking cars, and man, what great racecars they make. this one is right up my alley SBF, auto with a brake, and a 9" it dont get no better. this car leaves just like our street car Maverick did , wheels up and the 1-2 shift in the air👍 love it!!!!
I had a Maverick with a 302, backed by a C4, back in 1985. I started working it up to run at the track. All my money from driving a tractor trailer went into my cars. In my youth I lived and loved two things Fast cars and diesel smoke.
Awesome Car, the owner kept it so simple to run and also to fix. Also I like how he kept the interior so it doesn’t look like a stripped out bracket racer on Friday night at ATCO. Great Video, my old co worker runs a Maverick his brother is legendary machinist John Ficthner here in Florida. Thanks Evan really Cool 😎
Love the Mavericks, one guy I knew called them Ford's Chevy II. Another guy I knew back in the day had a Maverick Grabber, blue with back stripes, it was a terror on the street!
Enjoyed the interview. Thanks for being so open about the car specs. My Dad bought two Mavericks. A ‘70 and a ‘71. The Grabber had a 302 and 3 speed stick on the floor. A 4 speed was not available😝! This Maverick was a pig on power thou. 😞
It’s an inspiration watching these videos, what a great guy to talk about his car. I want to be like this, I’m building a 70 Mach 1 here in Western Australia.
The Ford Maverick holds lots of memories for me. It has been my favorite car for years now. The fox body Mustang runs second 😉 Hey I started out a Chevy guy for the first couple of years but the first time I drove my coworkers 1988 LX in 1992 I instantly became a Ford fan.
Reminds me of my small block '64 Comet ! 289 w 600 lift flat tappet and an autolite Ford carb !! Was only twisting 7,000 ! Ran 7.92 @ 93 mph in an eighth mile !! A blast so many years ago. !! Thanks
Don Scinto did the heads on my 66GT Stang in 1980 or so , ! wonder if they are related, also had the gold valve covers bought new in 91. great video and tech details.
These stockish manual builds are awesome I know there's money in it it's the power massage that makes me think it's so awesome. And that little 1850 Holley 600 is putting in some work!
Love the small block builds, could you ever do a series on getting started in Stock Elim or Super Stock with a late model car like a foxbody with a SBF Windsor?
The D/smod of Mike Edward's we built back in the 70s was a 10,000 RPM boss 302 that ran mid 10s, with filling the intake port floors over a half inch the ports were still so big the engine had to see 9800-10000 rpm to make good power....
The most underrated car of the muscle car era…. But I blame ford for that. They never offered a 4 speed or 4 barrel option….. ironically they did in Mexico and Brazil. That’s why these cars are as popular as mustangs down there.
It blows my mind that a set of factory untouched small block Ford heads can run in the tens . A 126 cc intake runner is PUNY. For comparison a factory small block Chevy head is 160-170 cc. Insane stuff!!
Totally cool vid, reminds us of the days at Lions drag strip Los Angeles, where my buddy's six cylinder 4-speed Camaro raced a six cylinder automatic Maverick, Camaro would always beat the Maverick off the line but the Maverik would win the race on the top end.... My Chevy buddy would say, that is a fast Ford...
I remember when relatively common but not extreme, streetable mods to a small block in a 70s smog mobile like a Maverick would put cars like that into the 13-14 second range. When the car owner got serious, these cars only got faster.
❤😂😮😊 Evan, Mr. Raven that is one hell of a sweet maverick I like that I wish I had that keep up the good work and one in these years come to California for a Redding Dragstrip I see a lot of Mavericks in my things over there to peace take care. Have a good weekend for a good week.
I'm looking for a decent Grabber. My first car was a 250cid brown 74 Grabber with white stripes that I bought and sold for a grand. In 1996 it was the furthest thing from cool at school, kids called it a Pinto+. I also wouldn't mind doing a four door that looks like it came from Summernats in Australia.
That car hooks up so nicely and runs down the track so smoothly. A real testament to the owner's setup. Incredible.
Love the Mavericks, fun little cars.

Bad ass car so cool he’s had it since 1979 when he was 14.
My buddy put a 351 Cleveland in a Maverick, no motor mounts, just sitting on the headers, just a burnout machine, fun as hell
What kept the engine from spinning
My buddy Rick Dahmer had one , & he had a roller cammed , twin nitrous setup 302 small block and he ran 10.5’s on our local tracks here back in the mid to late 1980’s . Great car love that body style! Sounds great with that high winding 302!!
Love those Mavericks. Like the old “Less is More”👏👏👏👏
I never thought much of the looks of this car back in the day, but looking at it again now I think it is standing the test of time very well.
I lost my 72 grabber in my devoted 8 years ago it's just like that same paint. To . Brings tears to me . Keep them coming revn evan
I worked with Duane before i retired. Great guy. Awesome racer.
Nothing sounds like a solid roller. Massive hit.
Another cool car and cool driver.
Love the wheelies !!! Looks like a ton of fun.
Wow, that's awesome running that much timing on iron heads!
Remember, it’s on race gas and probably never sees 180 degrees of temperature.
Both of those make a huge difference
I had a Maverick with a 302, backed by a C4, back in 1985. I started working it up to run at the track. All my money from driving a tractor trailer went into my cars. In my youth I lived and loved two things Fast cars and diesel smoke.
I miss my 73 Orange and Ginger Maverick, thank you Evan.
Cool, I like all the shared specs. Not that I'll ever have a car of this caliber, it's just nice to hear.
Thanks Evan for all the Maverick Goodness! Makes my day. My first and favorite car 😊
I love your car, well put together, very clean.
Thanks
I own a yellow maverick grabber and grabber yellow. I owned this car 36 years. I love it !
Love the Mavericks, one guy I knew called them Ford's Chevy II. Another guy I knew back in the day had a Maverick Grabber, blue with back stripes, it was a terror on the street!
Forgeting the Chey ll....Was Chevy's Falcon, wasn't he !!

Congrats Duane Hoven on your Record! Way Cool!!

Awesome SBF! Love the in-depth details and the NHRA class specifics.
Thanks Evan. Love these simple class builds.
Sweet ride. Super clean, blazing fast!
two guys that know their stuff.............and what a great Maverick !
Nicely done. Appreciate the insight regarding the car. Photography is terrific.
Reminds me of my small block '64 Comet ! 289 w 600 lift flat tappet and an autolite Ford carb !! Was only twisting 7,000 ! Ran 7.92 @ 93 mph in an eighth mile !! A blast so many years ago. !! Thanks
Oh I’m in love with this one!!! 🇺🇸💪🏼 awesome video!
🏁Great vid Evan, really enjoyed!!!!!!🏁🤜🤛
As always, Fantastic job. Hang in there.
Such a neat car, love the sound and the stance
Keep the Maverick stuff coming love watching
So freaking rad! Love it!
Watching all these maverick videos motivates me to do something with mine!😊
Don Scinto did the heads on my 66GT Stang in 1980 or so , ! wonder if they are related, also had the gold valve covers bought new in 91. great video and tech details.
That torque is multiplied - big time!
These stockish manual builds are awesome I know there's money in it it's the power massage that makes me think it's so awesome. And that little 1850 Holley 600 is putting in some work!
Love the simple classics.
Love the small block builds, could you ever do a series on getting started in Stock Elim or Super Stock with a late model car like a foxbody with a SBF Windsor?
I’ve been bouncing that idea around too.
We’ll be doing one hopefully in a few months.
I just loved the steering wheel in this car normally would hate but in this case its super cool
Love those Mavericks---Thanks
That's huge performance from those tiny port heads !!
Car is wicked cool. Love those Mavericks!
Great job. Thanks for sharing.
A Maverick has great weight transfer; even with stock suspension.
Excellent job! My first car was a maverick wish I had it now
The D/smod of Mike Edward's we built back in the 70s was a 10,000 RPM boss 302 that ran mid 10s, with filling the intake port floors over a half inch the ports were still so big the engine had to see 9800-10000 rpm to make good power....
Man, I wish I would have seen Modified.
Awesome car Ford power forever baby keep on pulling the knot out of them boties and the horns off them mopars l love it
Can't wait to get my maverick back on the road. That cam sounds so nice.
I had a 71 V 8 Grabber back in high school in 73-75. Mine weighed in at 2684 as a 3 speed stick car. a whooping 210 Hp. But I loved that car then.
The most underrated car of the muscle car era…. But I blame ford for that. They never offered a 4 speed or 4 barrel option….. ironically they did in Mexico and Brazil. That’s why these cars are as popular as mustangs down there.
J code 302 4V heads. The 49 cc exhaust port size on those was less than the early 289s. Ford reduced the port size at the gasket face 🥝✔️
Not a maverick fan, but the setup and build are really good, this car is really sorted, this guy did a lot of work on that car, nice job,
Very nice Maverick, thank you for sharing.
It blows my mind that a set of factory untouched small block Ford heads can run in the tens . A 126 cc intake runner is PUNY. For comparison a factory small block Chevy head is 160-170 cc. Insane stuff!!
467hp for a 312 running iron heads and 11.5:1 compression sounds pretty impressive to me. Sounds like a lot of fun as well. Congrats on the record.
Thanks for the video. Couple of really interesting guys
Totally cool vid, reminds us of the days at Lions drag strip Los Angeles, where my buddy's six cylinder 4-speed Camaro raced a six cylinder automatic Maverick, Camaro would always beat the Maverick off the line but the Maverik would win the race on the top end.... awesome maverick!
Love love love that intake
Been racing for a long time myself that car is awesome
I remember when relatively common but not extreme, streetable mods to a small block in a 70s smog mobile like a Maverick would put cars like that into the 13-14 second range. When the car owner got serious, these cars only got faster.
Love the Mav’s!!!
That looks like a fun Car to Drive 👍
Great video Evan I love though's Mavericks' !
Thanks for sharing so many details.
FORD POWER loved these Grabber's and Comet GT's
❤😂😮😊 Evan, Mr. Raven that is one hell of a sweet maverick I like that I wish I had that keep up the good work and one in these years come to California for a Redding Dragstrip I see a lot of Mavericks in my things over there to peace take care. Have a good weekend for a good week.

That car is so cool - even the automatic has an automatic! 👍
312....Thunderbird displacement"
The maverick is violent !
4:11 gear ?
Great content
14:32 I love old school stuff, I'm old school 😂 until DEATH 😮
I'm not surprised he is running up to 41 degrees advance with the stock lazy factory combustion chambers.
That's a sweet 302 bro💯💯💯💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Awesome!! Thanks
What a nugget, thanks! P.S. is this a 302 Boss?
No, it's a 1968 302 4 barrel engine that would have been offered in a cougar or comet
Great car,thanks Evin
Awesome Evan!
I'm looking for a decent Grabber. My first car was a 250cid brown 74 Grabber with white stripes that I bought and sold for a grand. That’s impressive!! Thanks!!
SBF: "Sounds Badass Ford"..
Great car and video. Wicked wheelies!
Just one question, can you run a Lincoln in this class (Ford powered of course)?
Love this car. My first car 71 maverick grabber 302 none ac or power steering. Trying to find another one.
Any Comet GTs out there? 😊
