- This one of a kind garage built 'MINIATURE NOVA' is one of the coolest things we have seen in a while! We saw this thing for sale on Craigslist and decided to track it down. Here is the Craigslist Ad ......... Miniature 70 nova. Tube chassis car with fiberglass body and doors. Toyota 8 bolt rear diff, mustang front suspension, Kawasaki zx12r fuel injected engine and 6 speed transmission. Has room in rear fender well to fit a 26x14 tire. Super fast and tons of fun. Highlight every car show and cruise night. Run scca autocross or cruise it into a bike rally or just around town. If you don't like talking to people then this isn't the car for you. i would say about 10k . its like buying a unicorn.
if it was made in metal like a real car with mini panels and stuff then price would be bumped alot.

So awesome!!. I'd be proud to own such a mini beast as this seriously!.. And imagine if they used one of those mini V8's for it, well built to this scale anyway lol. I haven't been disappointed by such builds in quite a long time and wished some of them were put into production because I believe there's a market for them!.

the builder is a good friend of mine and a very good mechanic as you can see. he built a street stock right out os school and it was built with the same perfection.
Do you have any insight on how he did the transmission to the rear differential? I want to plan out a similar build but the transmission is where I run into issues.
@@dphal1937 in dirt racing there is a class call dwarf cars. they use motorcycle engines and toyota rearends. I'm sure but not 100 percent that is how he did his. the dwarf cars are narrower but the drive like is very close. I'm sure there are videos on dwarg cars and legion cars as well. he had moved from my area before he build this car.

One of the coolest 'cars' I've seen in a long time!
Probably the coolest thing I've seen...
For years I have been considering swapping either a bike engine like that or an ALH diesel into one of my MX5's. I would love to see how the drivetrain is all mated up in this Mini-Nova.
gotta' be a fairly short legged diff, even considering the larger diam of bike wheels. Sportbike motors get their power at very high rpms and leverage from high final drive ratios. Would guess a Chevy Luv 4.56 would be close to what's needed with a literbike, maybe lower with zx12 or busa type of engine, like this guy.
ken frazee most of the times I've seen the bikes trans hooked to a car trans so you can have almost a gear vender under/over drive. I've also seen adapter plates to mate the bike engine and trans straight to a drive shaft and I've seen a jump shaft to chain drive to either , there is a slew of ways to get the thing geared just right. either way this thing could have the potential to be very very fast.
I think a 289 sbc would of grabbed more of my attention if space was the issue. Nice build to say the very least. Thanks for sharing.

it would break an axle or a trans. I break axles in my zx12 powered car on a dirt track. and when they break shit gets real! lol

I would've loved to see it with the biggest lopiest vtwin out there... ik Harley makes a 1.8l that would make that thing stand strait up. the torque and sound would have matched this build whereas the crotch rocket does not... still badass but I'd sacrifice half that hp and 3x the$ for the tq and rumbly sound on this particular build

I am now restoring one of Arthur Geoffrey's Miniature 1901 Oldsmobile's. I bought it over a year ago supposedly in perfect shape on Craig's List and after much arguments with the former owner saying this and that about the car and how wonderful it was. $7,845.00 later I received a Totally water destroyed mini 1901 Oldsmobile half the size represented in the ads and a Totally destroyed piece of trash. I took the Chassis and have redone it and painted it and rebuilt the Motor and Built a completely new body from scratch and I hope within a few weeks I will have a $15,000.00 Miniature 1901 Oldsmobile running. I know I will never recoup my money so I am contemplating allowing the City of Redding, Ca. to use it as a Patrol vehicle on the Sun Dial Sacramento River Trail to protect the walkers from Molesters and Pan Handlers. That way they will have a car that can maneuver on the trains easy and give seniors a ride back if there cannot make it back. It only weighs 499 pounds and can be maneuvered really easy.

Too large of an engine, a 3.8l v6 is a lot to ask for such a small car. How would you fit it in? The size of the car I about the size of that engine!

I'd definitely buy it if I had the cash. I'd be more interested in the process so I could build one for myself; I think it'd be a cool project. And forgive my ignorance cuz I'm not very familiar with bikes but is that the engine or trans that makes it sound like it has a blower on it? Cuz when he first started it I was like Holy Shit! 😂

+2redneck You said the car is weighed and balanced often but you don't know how much it weighs? You can take it to the dumps. They weigh trucks on the way in and on their way out. If you go there they will give you a print out of how much your car weighs.

This car is bad ass, hands down. I built custom cars, trucks, and a couple bikes and with everything that I have built I have an idea on the amount of trial and error type work that went into building this car. Amazing work and craftsmanship. Definitely gives me some ideas, maybe I will build the car I had started planning on building, a Honda CRX with a Chevy 350 motor with an extremely short drive shaft to a severely shortened rear axle just to piss off the import guys
