It’s nearly impossible to get that crisp pop when replacing a door. I can’t believe this guy built these cars out of refrigerators and measured so precise that he got the pop. I’m jealous. What a freaking stud.
That man has some serious skills in many trades. The metal work, the mechanical engineering, the upholstery. Not to mention all of the maths involved in scaling things down.

I was lucky to visit with Ernie at a cruise night many years ago in Independence, MO (the merc was there), nicest guy you could ever meet and took time to show me how he made it. A talent and teacher, much success to you!

I got to meet him when i went to arizona. He is an awesome down to earth guy. His tiny vars are super awesome. He has like a little museum in his machine shop and has tons of old tiny cars around his property.

This thing is amazing. I can’t believe how well it resembles the real thing. It looks to be about 1/4 scale and without anything to reference it’s size it looks like it’s full size.
Ernie was a friend of my late father, I remember going out and taking a ride in the little cars. Crazy how they are built. Super awesome to see he has more. I wish my father could see the merc I'm sure he'd love it.
I have seen bits and pieces of this mans creations but this is awesome! This man is a genius and will always be a legend! He is so damn humble! He has no idea he may be starting the next automotive fad! Would love to hear some stories I bet he has many!
I want to see him in action. See him shape that flat metal into those beautiful symmetrical curves. And the chrome trim, gauges, hinges, etc. I want to to see all! It's simply an amazing talent.

Wow, this must have lived in a mechanic shop with a hell of an instructor since he was probably a young teen. I'd LOVE to see his worj process on one of these.
This is what happens when in later years our childlike minds, still inside of us, loving classic little matchbox cars cannot fully transitioned to our adult minds loving life-size classic automobiles - - COMBINED with the VERY RARE legendary abilities to make it into a physical reality ourselves. *It would not be special if we could all do this! When he goes, I for one hope his created collections get preserved in a special museum for younger generations to appreciate, and the proceeds goes to benefit both his family and promotes artistic abilities in young people with such similar rare gifts!
His dwarf car garage makes Jay Leno's garage not worth much. I am truly amazed on how much skill, patience this guy has and how humble he seems to be. Hats off!

There's a ton of videos on RUclips about how the factories themselves mass produced cars back then as well as various hand hammering techniques.

This is what happens when in later years our childlike minds, still inside of us, loving classic little matchbox cars cannot fully transitioned to our adult minds loving life-size classic automobiles - - COMBINED with the VERY RARE legendary abilities to make it into a physical reality ourselves.
*It would not be special if we could all do this! When he goes, I for one hope his created collections get preserved in a special museum for younger generations to appreciate, and the proceeds goes to benefit both his family and promotes artistic abilities in young people with such similar rare gifts!

The Bandit car was a 76 with a 77 front end. The movie was filmed in 76. You can see bicentennial shots in the movie. They released it in 77. The movie studio obtained 77 nose piece from GM. Watch Burts interview.
