I had an idea when I watched this, what if the end of the video was an instant lose, and instead of a pause that just stops bullets, there was a rewind function. This would add a good balance of risk and reward, you could skip difficult attacks for the meantime to take a breather, but eventually you would have to rewind the fight manually to take on the challenge before the end. Now this idea does have issues that would need to be ironed out, and you would have to make the rewind function on a cool down or something, but I thought it might be interesting. Anyway amazing dev log and I really like the game so far, I look forward to your future ones!!!!
i really want to see a dating sim in boss up but then again super paper mario already had the genius idea of a dating sim bossfight. and francis is extremely iconic
quick tip: i think giving the player a little bit of visual feedback whenever a boss gets hit would make the experience better. it can be as simple as the sprite flashing white for a fraction of a second. i'm personally excited to see where this game goes in the future!
@@binarypench if you look at the old footage I did used to have some feedback for players hitting the boss, it would spawn damage numbers. But I removed damage randomization so the numbers felt redundant and I haven't got around to replacing their feedback yet
@@CaptainAtria You could make the attack slower, give it more damage, and play a little sound when it hits. right now its almost like you're surviving a timer instead of shooting an enemy

make it say ''erm what the sigma?'' or anything brainrotted for more funny. bous for any brqain rot themed attacks like it summoning small moai emojis to attack you.
I want Boss Up to be timeless so I'm parodying the general aesthetic of brainrot rather than specific memes, so that it will still be funny in 10 years if that makes sense
