I've always liked it too. Ever since I studied a silver one parked for a few days by a gas station on the outskirts of Denver in the 1980s. It surprised me. I admired the fact that Lamborghini had built a comfortable-looking V12 car for four people and their groceries. And they even put glass across the back so you could see out! It's news now when Porsche builds a Panamera, Aston a Rapide, or Ferrari an FF, but Lamborghini did it a long time ago with this. Good on you Aaron!
One of the better C&D videos in a long time. Keep it up! It was great to see someone so passionate about their car despite all of its "troubles". It showed a car is worth more to the right person than to somebody who doesnt really care about the car but rather the price tag and only looks at the numbers on paper. Really great stuff and dont ever sell the Espada, its beautiful!
Aaron-I so envy you, and share your sentiment about valuing what everyone doesn't have. This has always been a very special car to me, and I will never forget the day I saw one for the first time, in a parking garage in NYC maybe 1975. Probably came from Kessler Motors. It remains one of the most stunning cars, and your car sounds AMAZING. Enjoy it, drive it, just don't let it sit. Great! Cheers.
I had the same book and wanted the same car. Kudos to Aaron for getting the car and producing a wonderful video. I especially appreciated the trivia on fueling the car.
I have the same book he held up and I agree that there's something about the Espada. I love the Miura as well (in fact probably more), but there's a quirky beauty about the Espada and the fact that it's a fairly practical every day super car. You can seat four people in this thing!
Absolutely brilliant. The Espada is not only one of my favorite Lamborghinis, but one of my favorite cars. This video was a nice look into ownership and it's always nice to see people get their dream car. Thanks for posting.
Excellent video ! Really liked the balanced article where the owner pointed out that this old exotic car requires regular maintenance attention. Since it no is not only an exotic car, it's also an old car meaning there will be common issues of electrical insulation cracking and other old car issues. I have a 1982 Alfa Romeo GTV6 and an 89 Milano Verde. Both challenge me with old car-"itus". Love them both though. Would like a Urraco to go with them someday.
This man understood what the creators of Espadt wanted to give. And he loved it. And he put his heart into making it live on. And now two hearts beat in one body.
"...a time capsule...weird and esoteric..." It's great to listen to Aaron...so honest and uplifting. To spend a late afternoon with him talking about the Matra-Simca Bagheera, the Citroen SM, the Marcos GT and other European charming oddities.
Brilliant video, dudes! (respect from Switzerland) I can see the proudness in Your eyes and hear it also in Your voice, how it feels to be the owner of this wonderful car! Have a safe ride!
awesome video! i love your view on "keeping it working and then appreciating THAT it works". Thats how I feel about my bikes, I am never finished repairing it - but thats great! Greetings from Germany.
Love this video, Aaron! This is the fuel real gearheads run off of. A favorite model of mine, as well. It was very daring, and that sound! As a kid in the early sixties, and growing up in Detroit, I had many major, foreign infatuations, and coveted Karmann Ghias, Cortina GTs, all the early Lamborghinis and Ferraris, Triumph TRs, MGs, Rover V8s, probably every single Fiat, and the still-wonderful Citroen DS! I get it, I get it!
Stunning car. I saw it in a walk around in Jay Leno's garage with James May, but they didn't really talk about it, hence why I'm watching this now. Not disappointed!
This is the first classic car profile I've ever seen that doesn't spend too much time on a background story that everybody already knows and too little time on the actual machine. Great sounds, great visuals, great tidbits of not-so-common knowledge. The highs AND the lows. Well done. Discovery/Velocity/Spike channels, take notice.
I enjoyed your video , in fact I have viewed it 3 times , so far , my Espada was a 1972 model which I bought in 1978 , kept it for 27 years , then gave , up with continuous break downs , so swapped it with an 82 Porsche 928 , one of the virtues of the Espada , is that you can go for a drive with 3 girls with you , instead of just one , so , hang on to your Espada .
I love this Lambo. It's so elegant and crazy. And it's so sad that its equivalent today is Urus. The Urusk is ok. But the Espada is a coupe limousine that turns commuting into an adventure. It's so special. So beautiful. So crazy. And so useful.
Bloody hell, this brings back memories! The guy who owned the construction company who built my Aunts villa in Spain back in the mid 80's had a silver Espada. That passenger ride I had as a wee lad was my first taste of true performance.
I think that in 1969 one of our Motor Magazines in the U.K. had a pull out colour centrefold of a metallic silver one that I had on my bedroom wall. Very eclectic and exotic compared to the contemporary vehicles. Love it.
First of all, it’s about the experience: the feel of the V12 engines power and sound!! Then it’s the drive of this low slung performer, accelerating and shifting gears!! You can have passengers experience this cool feeling too! The exterior looks are not too important by then. @6:07 The roofline is low!! Soo cool looking!!
Superb video. Very nice story, really interesting and very nice shots. I also like the fact, that it isn´t a "mainstream" Lamborghini like a Countach, Diablo or Miura which everyone thinks at first when they hear Lamborghini. Very nice. Beautiful car and keep up the good work.
Late 60's and early 70's is the absolute golden age for European sports cars imo. I love everything released by Lamborghini, Maserati, Jaguar, Aston, Porsche and Ferrari in those days. Of course there are the extremely desirable models like the 250 GTO for example, which are out of the price range of most people, but there are still plenty of affordable super-cars for the average collector left on the market. This would be one of those cars. I love the idea of a Lamborghini that looks nothing like the classic design associated with the brand following the Countach. This specific car really reminds me of the old Maserati's that were around at the same time or the Alfa-Romeo Montreal. Really great looking car and spacious too. My dream Lamborghini still has to be one of the early model LP400's or a prototype if they still exist, but this is high up there on my list as well :)
I love you Car and Driver. Great story. Quirky dude and a quirky car. I miss my subscription to you. Once my finances get in order you will see me again. Until then... Love Zak
One of my favourite cars of all time....it just don't age. Thank you for an excellent video. One other car in more or less the same league: the Citroën SM (maserati), a timeless beauty full of innovation ...and troubles ;-)....dreamcars.
I like this guy! very good with his words! and an Awesome car! it's a part of you! Cheers on a classic! I hope it stay's in the family for a long time!
Came across one a few months ago, just sitting pretty on the side of an Alfa Romeo shop in Downtown Tacoma, Washington. Spent the rest of that day and then on, going nuts over not finding an Alfa that resembled it, until I revisited it today and noticed the bull on the hood after a closer look... I find it very handsome, and it's hilariously fitting I'd grow smitten with one of Lamborghini's quirkier cars.
Not even close. A rear engined V6 two-seater cobbled with Lotus, Peugoet/Renault/Volvo, and even Ford (I think it has Capri brakes but don't quote me on that) parts versus a Lambo... mmm. I love Deloreans, but it's wonderful seeing the Espada getting some love, too. Thank you for sharing, Aaron. That's a great car you've got there.
Thanxxx for the vid. Also my favorite car since childhood. Was in the awesome early 70s Kodansha youth encyclipedia as Italian car. Very sensusal, very seventies, very Ai, very vehement, very formidable, very wide. How do You mean not wide. It s all about width. I adore wide and low cars. It s litterally bad ass, that s with the photo. And it is a 4 seat hatchback. Very family, suppose that s Italian. My other dream car is Citroen SM, air susp and a Maserati V6, dreamly. Third Triumph TR7.
The very first Lambo I saw was in 1976, a dark brown Espada with tan leather interior. I've been Lambo hooked ever since. The local Pontiac dealer had become a Lambo dealer and had a 1976 Tahitii Blue Countach Periscopica, a White on Red Uracco, and the Brown Espada. At that time the Countach was $65,000 Canadian and the Uracco was $ 39,000. I can't remember the price of the Espada.
not the best vid... but i like this style of vids. keep it up. its all about the numbers and figures but its also refreshing to watch and listen to all these great passions that people have that no numbers or figures can express. wish there were more of these.
I like it too sorta reminds me of the 924 I drove for a while the body lines just bigger and twice the engine, very cool car and history thanks for posting : )
Great car! Car and Driver should step up their videos! make more like this one, about the history of certain interesting vehicles! (but make it a bit more flashy for a broader audience)
That book was at our high school library it had the lotus esprit ferrari boxer, porsche 911 four speed, and old v-12 jalopy that hit 0-60 in 5.3 seconds
I still have a copy of that very book today, author Jeremy Sinek... my dream car was the Alfa Romeo Montreal (p38) and the Maserati Bora (p50) I run a beautiful Triumph Stag, but would still love one or both of fore mentioned cars. Great vid...
I'm 16 and work at a grocery store. I work with people of all different ages yet I was the only one of my co-workers who spotted a dark red Espada pulling into the parking lot, right-hand drive and all.
I've always liked it too. Ever since I studied a silver one parked for a few days by a gas station on the outskirts of Denver in the 1980s. It surprised me. These cars look even better in person than they do in pictures.
+Listening Point I am in the UK though... no idea where I can see an Espada, would you happen to know?
+Mark Wood Not sure. Try an exotic car dealership. My brother is a mechanic for Hyman Ltd. They just got another Espada in Today. Gorgeous car.
***** Lol.
Not sure if it's still there but for 250k there was one on Autotrader with the flux compasitors.
I have the same book he held up and I agree that there's something about the Espada. I love the Miura as well (in fact probably more), but there's a quirky beauty about the Espada and the fact that it's a fairly practical every day super car. You can seat four people in this thing!

you sir have a beautiful car
I would really love to see more videos about the cars that your editors own. This was a great change to the norm! Thanks for the awesome video.
"I like what nobody else likes." I say that all the time haha.
This is the first one i have seen. It is beautiful. Thank you for posting and your passion for your Espada shows.
Mi sono bastati pochi secondi per apprezzare quest’uomo . La sua visione , la sua consapevolezza , la passione e la sua competenza. Bravo👍🏻
Excellent video ! Really liked the balanced article where the owner pointed out that this old exotic car requires regular maintenance attention. This is awesome. I love how he's so ambitious about his car, almost as if it's his own child... everyone has a dream!
Great video, this is my favorite Lamborghini by far!
Brilliant video, dudes!
(respect from Switzerland)
I can see the proudness in Your eyes and hear it also in Your voice,
how it feels to be the owner of this wonderful car!
Have a safe ride!
When I was a tiny kid, I had a picture book with a picture of one of these in it. I wanted it then, and I think I still want it, it's beautiful! : )
Amazing car, I never liked the shape but it's starting to grow on me as the decades pass.
awesome video! i love your view on "keeping it working and then appreciating THAT it works".
Thats how I feel about my bikes, I am never finished repairing it - but thats great!
Greetings from Germany.
has always been my favorite Lamborghini since I was eight. so beautiful
I've known the entire Lamborghini history since I was 8, this is my favorite brand overall. ;)
Love this video, Aaron! This is the fuel real gearheads run off of. A favorite model of mine, as well. It was very daring, and that sound! This is my 3rd C&D video this afternoon. Great stuff. Thanks for this.

Great sounds, great visuals, great tidbits of not-so-common knowledge. The highs AND the lows. Well done. Discovery/Velocity/Spike channels, take notice.
1 video after the other. You guys just bring great quality videos.
Thanks! I love the shape of the car!
Great video! This Lamborghini is very classy and beautifully preserved. Aaron, keep up the great job :)
I remember when I was a kid that this was the car I wanted, still would like one, thank you for a wonderful video. Good Luck
I enjoyed your video , in fact I have viewed it 3 times , so far , my Espada was a 1972 model
which I bought in 1978 , kept it for 27 years , then gave , up with continuous break downs , so swapped it with an 82 Porsche 928 , one of the virtues of the Espada , is that you can go for a drive with 3 girls with you , instead of just one , so , hang on to your Espada .
Was the 928 more reliable than the Espada?
Perfect advice sir!! Words to live by!! 🙏🏽✌️
This is an excellent video, thank you so much for putting this together!
I love this Lambo. It's so elegant and crazy. And it's so sad that its equivalent today is Urus. The Urusk is ok. But the Espada is a coupe limousine that turns commuting into an adventure. It's so special. So beautiful. So crazy. And so useful.
I love the term "rolling restoration." I use it for all the cars I buy!
Bloody hell, this brings back memories! The guy who owned the construction company who built my Aunts villa in Spain back in the mid 80's had a silver Espada. That passenger ride I had as a wee lad was my first taste of true performance.
amazing car, v12, aerodynamics, everything. truly a classic.
and remind me of back to the future ^^
LOVE this car. Great video, bravo man!
absolutly love it! great great video ! :)
I like his attitude. It's nice to see an old car kept up.
This would have made an amazing convertible, it's beautifully eccentric, a timeless piece of mechanical coolness.
Best simple way to explain, to explain why we love our money pits. Love the video, keep this kind of videos comming.
Addition: I like the fact that Aaron is so dedicated and loving with his car
The sound of that V12 sent shivers down my spine -333333
Great-looking car. I love those 70s' European GT cars. They had a great futuristic styling.
I've somehow never seen an Espada. But...I really like it for the same reasons this guy does...it's different.
I've seen several and their amazing.. mind you that was in my teens.... I'm 59 now
I think that in 1969 one of our Motor Magazines in the U.K. had a pull out colour centrefold of a metallic silver one that I had on my bedroom wall.
Very eclectic and exotic compared to the contemporary vehicles.

@6:07 The roofline is low!! Soo cool looking!!
I had that first photo on my bedroom wall when I was a kid thought one day - but it never happened !!
Superb video. Very nice story, really interesting and very nice shots. I also like the fact, that it isn´t a "mainstream" Lamborghini like a Countach, Diablo or Miura which everyone thinks at first when they hear Lamborghini.
Very nice. Beautiful car and keep up the good work.
had the same book looked at espadas all over the us i love it it was the only lamborghini people did not know about ultimate sleeper
beautiful car, really enjoyed the video

Even though it's looks are lost on me, I am very happy to see a guy
that gets so much satisfaction from his car.
i drove this car ! and it was a fantastic car in 1970 !
What appealed to me about the Espada when I first saw one in the 1970s was that it was sports looking yet, a 4 seater.
I love this car! I have only seen 1 here in Washington D.C. it was the same color.
Always awesome seeing someone driving their dream car
I like this guy! very good with his words! and an Awesome car! it's a part of you! Cheers on a classic! I hope it stay's in the family for a long time!
One of the best videos. More like this.
Nice passionate and personal review ;)
Nothing wrong with an espada mate...True classic...magic
Aaron, I had that very same book at the same age! Except it was the Jarama that stole my heart.
This guy is the best kind of nerd. Awesome video
If I could have one Lambo, it would be the Espada.
Great video!!! NICE car!! And it looks like a 73 mach 1 mustang and a Delorean
This is truly a great GT Car snd such a unique body shape this and the Miura are my dream cars , sadly theres not many left today in 2019
Great car, nice to see people are daily driving them.
this will keep C&D above the rest. FANTASTIC

This is beautiful
I cant get over it. I love this car

I cant believe I just discovered your channel... so much catching up to do
A great, very informative video.
My favorite Lamborghini.. Always was :)
..."I like what nobody else likes" That makes two of us!
one day i will have an old timer of my very own... itll be a fully restored Citroen BX Rally!
Nice Espada and so Very nice Scene & Shot.
Nice car & the color is pretty rockin too!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THESE CARS!!!!!
You're awesome!
I've experienced the same: I used to own a Maserati Biturbo Spyder i. No one but me liked it! ;-) I still miss it.
A piece of art and very desirable. You are a very lucky man.
More of these classic car vids, please :)
Very nice!
Beautiful car and just a fantastic video
60´s cars era, just wonderful machinery and see-thru windows, very airy environments!
That book was at our high school library it had the lotus esprit ferrari boxer, porsche 911 four speed, and old v-12 jalopy that hit 0-60 in 5.3 seconds
What a car.... Even if the front gapes on driver side.....! A fav
I still have a copy of that very book today, author Jeremy Sinek... my dream car was the Alfa Romeo Montreal (p38) and the Maserati Bora (p50) I run a beautiful Triumph Stag, but would still love one or both of fore mentioned cars.
Great vid...
Ford Torino of the early 70's must have been based on this. I remember a Torino of that same color. It's nice, like them both.
Awesome. Yes it is an oddball...that is why it is beautiful.
Looks awesome!
I'm 16 and work at a grocery store. I work with people of all different ages yet I was the only one of my co-workers who spotted a dark red Espada pulling into the parking lot, right-hand drive and all.
