This is a really poor report from ITV News. Ignoring the poor presentation, you at least need to mention the reason these treatments have been paused, which is the Cass Review. If Labour were to deliberately ignore a scientific review without any evidence to the contrary, they themselves would become liable for the harm caused. Those with gender dysphoria at that early of an age arguably shouldn't have access to such a drug because honestly it's pretty unclear what the implications of taking it would have on that individual's future. If there is any evidence to suggest that blockers can have adverse effects on a pre-adolescents body, why give that option? There is so much doubt surrounding this issue because it's generally felt that young individuals cannot possibly be in a position to make these sorts of informed decisions affecting their future.

In precocious kids, it helps lead to natural development, in the latter, the goal is to delay what would otherwise be natural development. If you have any of your own insight into the issue, you should try and actually explain why you think the government shouldn't ban the drug for these individuals, instead of belittling my comment.

@@radical8311 "Natural development" is whatever a body does by itself. If a girl starts puberty at 7 years old, that's her natural development, so giving her blockers is exactly the same as giving it to an 11 year old who needs time to be assessed for gender dysphoria. More time for assessment leads to less mistakes; when people eventually move to hormones, it means they will have a better ability to 'pass' in society because they aren't fighting against the puberty they've already gone through. Passing lowers the amount of transphobia/violence they may face and leads to happier people overall. Is that enough of a reason?

What's so bad about blocking and delaying puberty in young people? With affects on the bodies development that are irreversible? The issue isn't even necessarily what the drugs are doing cause maybe some young people need them but with how they are so readily administered for everything, brain altering and hormone altering drugs imo are very dangerous and lead to many side effects, that includes anti depressants. My question is why is this the only treatments offered for any child who experiences any level of gender dysphoria? It's like the opposite end of conversion therapy where people are being forced to 'come out' or youngsters being lead into taking these puberty blockers, my question is why can't governments and healthcare individuals just leave our kids alone? I'm against things like conversion therapy and this was rightfully banned but so should this stuff, the other extreme isn't any better than what was provided before, let people make up their own minds about who they are and let them have the time to do that, people barely know themselves by 40 how is a child supposed to make such a huge life altering decision that there is no going back from? It is no anti trans to think this way btw just plain ol' common sense.

It stops puberty and growth. It can also effect future efforts of reproduction and make males have issues with their sperms and length of their p3n1s. For females she won't have br3a§ts to feed her child if she could even manage to reproduce as no periods means no eggs and no eggs means no life in that womb. Also could cause early menopause which is even worse issue than failure to reproduce. Can't belive I had to explain that to someone.

The problem is that puberty blockers may cause life long issues. For example they can make you infertile.

This is a terrible decision! If I'd been able to have treatment before puberty it would have saved me a lifetime of anguish. Having surgery (especially female to male) is horrendous. I wouldn't wish it on any young trans person.
And before anyone jumps on me with the "Many trans people change their minds, don't you know, what what!" BS, no, we don't. I knew I was different from my assigned gender when I was 8 and that has not changed in 40 years!
I hope Labour stop listening to the bigots and start listening to the young people whose lives this affects and reverse this stupid ban immediately!

Yeah, the stats they always pull to show a "high regret rate" are cherry-picked from places where there's immense social prejudice against trans people. They regret it because of the abuse they suffer afterwards.

@@oldblueshirtguy the Cass review is deeply flawed. It is simply not good enough to be used and therefore not good enough to justify a complete ban. Many scientists, organisations and even ordinary people have critiqued and effectively dismantled the review's merit.
