- The WDR BIG BAND plays the concert "Hargrove Grooves" together with the American jazz trumpeter Roy Hargrove (Leverkusener Jazztage, 2007). Most of these pieces of music were written during the very creative period of his band THE RH FACTOR - Michael Abene arranged the pieces for the WDR BIG BAND. Produced for WDR Jazzline under the direction of Elmar Herkrath, Peter Sommer and manager of the WDR Big Band: Lucas Schmid.

Went to Arts Magnet with Roy, knew then that he was going places...Saw him perform in the cafeteria during lunch, with Wynton Marsalis. 10 years later, caught him in a club on 6th street in Austin, told him I went to arts with him, ended up hangin with him in the back of the club on some old beat up couches...He smoked some Ganj, and we partied till 5 am, he played an old beat up piano and we had so much fun. I told him I sang, and he prompted me to sing: “Reunited” (peaches and herb?) I didn’t know the words, so I blew that, hahaha. I was sad to hear of his passing.. Side: Erykah Badu went there when we did too, Arts Magnet...

La WDR BIG BAND como siempre sus conciertos maravillosos,, es decir majistral, dirigido por este grandisimo director areglista y compositor músico lleno de talento,,, Roy Hargrove un trompetista muy fino brillante lleno de talento se encuentra entre los más grande de estas décadas genial,,, Paul Heller xaso tenor los solos de este potente tenor se sale de libro majistral impresionante,,, no boy ha nombrarlos ha todos son muchos músicos pero todos en la misma línea se salen todos impresionante,,, es decir los músicos de la grandisima Orquesta la WDR son todos unos grandisimos profesionales y muy cotizados ha nivel internacional,,, da gusto escuchar sus grandes conciertos,,, son para recordar con el paso del tiempo,,, maravilloso y espléndido concierto como siempre la gran WDR BIG BAND..
Аранжировки шикарные, так всё сыграно чисто! Звук и видео на высоте. Музыканты как на подбор, особенно понравилась девушка на альт-саксофоне и её грамотная и кайфовая импровизация! Но и Рой навсегда будет жив на видео и аудио записях!

Roy has been a great trumpet player from day one, his talent will be long missed. I can't say enough about Karolina Strassmayer - she is great! This band has some of the best musicians around and all in this one band!

Miss this dude so much! However, Guess it wasn't meant to be a "collaboration" though the RH Factor was/is a Band, not just people playing with Grove. We started that journey back in 2001 together. Amazing performance, love the arrangements. Just would've been awesome to have been a part of this as a Band/Family! Would be nice if you would mention/credit that this is the music from the RH Factor, as we all had a hand in making this music(except Eddie Harris Listen Here, awesome all by itself) what it was and still is, classic! This music, the band, was truly some of the best times of his life and career when we traveled all of the world playing this music with basically little to no support from his record company at the time. A true labor of love for each other and our music. #rhfactor
