Nobody could play a ballad like Roy. I miss my dear friend tremendously. I will always treasure the times we chopped it up, when he came to the Bay Area. Man we had some good times. Miss you Roy and I’ll see you when I get there. Love family 🙏🏿
Roy your sweet beautiful soul was shown to the world by way of the sound and voice of your horn.
Roy Hargrove ~ You will be missed 4ever ~ One of the most gifted musicians ever to walk planet Earth
What beautiful music! What is the courage of this man who battling terminal illness for the last 15 years of his life, was able to create such spontaneous and carefree jazz? You don't have to wear a uniform to be a hero.
We lost a great trumpeter....

love u roy
I keep coming back to this just for Roys solo starting at 7:18. Incredible phrasing, creativity, tone and attitude in his playing.. even the stone face bassist can't help but crack a subtle smile. and the way he just walks off at the end of the solo before even finishing his line is the icing on the cake
Roy is on fire on here!
Joel Holmes!!!! In the pocket!!
RIP Roy Hargrove :(
El pianista toca de madre!
Wow this was Roy in his straight ahead Jazz mode, crazy how musically versatile he was.
It touches on the inner strings of my soul.
Joel Holmes is a monster. Wow. Not to forget that Justin Robinson is one too. Damn, he's off the chain at the 28:00 mark solo.
WhatAsound guys!!!!!!!!!!!
That's my Cat, Roy nobody can touch him on the trumpet - Rashid the jazz aficionado.
Maurice Brown, Freddie Hubbard, Jon Faddis, Clifford Brown, Woody Shaw, Sean Jones, Jason Palmer etc. . Hot Tamales - the NEW jazz aficionado.
And now Rashid Booker himself has passed away. Hope you see Roy on the other side. RIP both of you, jazz cats.
A person who is familiar with Jazz professionally would never allow such stupidity to exit their mouth.
@@timeisnow4116 I felt a little 'umbrage' myself...but, Rashid was only being honest, to say Roy, was 'his cat!'. Not YOURS. His. YOU need to shut the stupid shit, DOWN!
Admirable trompetista! Tremenda pérdida su fallecimiento!
These guys are WORLD CLASS.
Thank you so much for this excellent post. Improvisation is doing well in your country. joel great
Alta banda la de Roy !!!
What's that beautiful song on the flugelhorn?
Had the honor of watching Roy at the first installment of the North Sea Festival which subsequently became known as Cape Town International Jazz Festival. Wow it was an experience of a lifetime, such energy. He was up there with the best trumpeters undoubtedly. What a loss
