Brilliant, I haven’t tried streamer fishing yet but definitely one I’ll have to try now. What weight rod were you using here?

      This is a 9.5ft 7wt, I should use a 5wt, but I love this rod.

Nice bit of fishing, fella, I'm giving the streamer a bit more attention, but it seems more effective when there's colour in the water on my local stream, I set up 2 outfits the other night , one 3 wt dry fly and 5 wt streamer, and the dry fly did much better, they were obsessed with the BWO hatches. wanted a big trout for my channel but just managed tiddlers 🤣
Just subbed, good luck with you tube stuff 👍

great video as is your usual style. when fishing downstream are you letting line out?

Hi Jan, I cast out to the fare bank and then let the line cross the river and then on my next cast I add 12 - 18 inch or once that area has been covered take 1 step forward, its just the same. I start above a run and walk down the river, but cast at least 12 - 15ft away as any fish facing up stream will only see the streamer pass and not me in the distance. Thanks for watching Regards MD

The second trout was a brown trout and not a rainbow, ive been hanging around too many stillwater fisheries.

I’ve done a bit of fly fishing and wow is it different here in uk . Fishing down stream what’s all that about?? I the other side of the world your casting up stream and your nymphs coming down naturally not against the fast flowing stream. Your fly drifting down and you strip and mend your line . Might have to try …

Yes I nymph upstream and because the Calder is very shallow and rocky infact that area of the river is only max 2ft deep it's better to let the fry/ streamers drift from the other bank to my side of the river. Some of the deep pools I will fish them up stream only to give the fly time to sink deeper. Hoping to get some fishing videos out soon, but I've injured my casting arms elbow, shoulder. Cheers for watching Regards MD.

@@peterb443 I park in Copley and was fishing up from the new bridge near the church. Loads of other fishing spots when you walk up river towards the old standard wire works.

Will certainly check it out👍 as the still waters are a bit harder to fish when it’s hot like has been
