I fished the Provo for 6 hours yesterday using streamers of various colors and got 1 bite…fish would go up to it, look, and leave quite frequently. Thank you for making this.
Often been my experience as well. Fortunately I’ve had enough luck to keep me coming back. I’ve even started throwing streamers for bass at the local ponds with it being runoff in Montana. If there’s one thing that pays off it’s persistence! Good luck out there!
That guide said a mouthful. Retrieving streamers down stream produces more strikes than swinging or dead drifting. I like the idea of vertical presentation with the streamer under an indicator. Definitely going to give that a try.
First time I've seen a fly fisher with a dog. Thought he was going to retrieve one there for a second. Good video for different kinds of stream fish. Fishing down stream with streamers is more fun to me than dry fly fishing upstream.
Lovely episode. I really envy you your scenery and fishing in the US and Canada. I'm in the UK and have been trying streamers in rivers for the last couple of seasons with some success. As you say, there's much more to it than chuck it and retrieve it. Relatively few here seem to streamer fish rivers for trout, despite the fact that they are quite happy to do so on lakes and reservoirs. It isn't just for big fish. I've caught plenty of smaller ones on the method, too. They will have a go at a streamer that's almost half their size sometimes.
I'm glad I saw this video! I often wonder if I should twitch my rod while streamer fishing because it causes slack in the line. If I strip the fly in to me just using my hand in let's say a lake. Is that still a good technique?
What's with these guys ??? " Oh its not that big " ????? (14 inches) Why don't u keep something to eat too while your at it???.. something flyfishers rarely do ???? 🤣 So dumb how the small fish they catch apparently isn't a nice fish??? And - "Oh that's a good fish" ...Well, whats a BAD FISH ????😆
This has to be the most Canadian group I have ever seen. This is glorious

Retrieving down-stream? With the current?

Thanks for the kind words and valued input. Streamer fishing works virtually everywhere for trout.
In Finland especially spring time with high water, really big streamers are great for trout. ...Never been fishing in UK but maybe one day 😊
When he said, “Set that!” at 10:56, was it just that tiny twitch in the indicator?
yes indeed

Definitely!
When this pandemic is over, my footprints are going to cover the whole damn country.
Great ambition and this isolation certainly makes us all appreciate the outdoors all that much more! Take care
I hear you! 😆
Well…have you made it out anywhere nOw that were about through the pandemic!?
Did you keep your word?
Rumor has it he’s still trekking

Nice video Guys 👍. So many TOP tips 👌🎣 AWESOME
Thanks! 👍
Agree 😊
Gotta love a good Lab that is merely interested in the fish and doesn't try to harm it..
I HATE YOU
15:41 nice rod holder
I slay with streamers in the Box Canyon
I hope you have an awesome day
I will release trout all day long but that smallie would have been dinner!
Hey colin can you play your very first episode of the new fly fisher? Thanks !!!
Possibly, will see if we have it.
Since moving south, have found these same basic techniques will catch just about anything that swims here. lol
"That was big" 😅 every fish we lose was a big one lol
That's how they get big!
The biggest ones are always lost... All my PB's got off the hook lol

Streamer tactics? Are we at war with fish.
There is always the guy that has to bring the dumb dog with him.
Intro was way way too long .
This video is 1 part streamer knowledge, 10 parts bad music and 100 parts just videos of someone else fishing. Waste
