    Wife and I were up at Lopstick this past September. Would like to claim it was on purpose, but it was dumb luck we hit peak leaf season. Fished two days with a Lopstick guide, one day wading, one day drift boat. The drift boat day early evening the trout went nuts taking flies off the surface, so even a novice like my wife and I had a ton of fun dry fly fishing! Did some kayaking in a lake and a bog, did some hiking. Stayed in one of the Lopstick cabins. Was a super week!

    I got back into fly fishing last year up in Pittsburgh,NH while I was staying at Warriors @ 45 North. I have only been fly fishing only once this year.I managed a largemouth bass on a black woolybugger.I can't wait to get up to Pittsburgh again,as I am in southern NH.

    Tie the clinch knot for your dropper to the tippet on your dry fly, not to the bend of the hook. A fish will sometimes hit the dropper when you are playing one on the dry, and it will pull the dry from the mouth of the trout you are playing.

      The chances of that actually happening are astronomically low.

    See a rise switch to dries. I’ve seen a lot of fish rising at my local stocked creek. I’m getting my first set of dry flies!

    Connecticut’s trout streams produce a lot bigger hatches and bigger trout. The upper Housitonic and west branch Farmington rivers are worth looking into for an episode on big hatches in New England...

      Wrong time of year for the northern Connecticut River. I'm a local native of this area. Fished this river for 25+/- years now. I've caught more browns over 5lbs than I can count, dozens in the 5-10 lb range and even a monster 13 pounder and a couple right around 12. Dozens of rainbows in the 5-7lb range and one almost 9lbs. Granted not all these were caught in dries. But I'd confidently say %25-%30 were. The "trophy stretch" is a local joke. It gets a lot of pressure and there is far better fishing in stretches that aren't catch and release only and that allow bait fishing and lures. There's a lot of stocking that goes on in the first few miles of the head waters. I personally stay away from clipped fins and like the trout I eat to be pink inside.
      Just 2cents from a local "feather bender". Good luck and tight lines

    Hi.. I am new to the support got the interest developed in fly fishing from lou tabory fly fishing book on salt water. Kindly guide me as to the good gear and the books to learn the sport and get prificeint at it. Thanks. I have been doing trout fishing for some years now on spinning gear like trout magnet, mepps, spoons on ultralight setup with around 2 to 4 pound lines etc. We have beautiful lakes, rivers and streams to practice the sport

    8:40 like that you use a bobber ”indicator” rigg haha, try euronymphing instead, you get a more natural drift. Didn’t the fish rise?😘

    Wow, 32 comments and a handful of them are unreasonable complaints.
    'People with data limits don't like intros.'
    '25 minutes of baby rainbows. Boring.'
    It must be a fly fishing thing. I watch fishing videos all the time, and usually the comments are a pleasure to take part in.
    I stop by a fly fish video (which I quite enjoyed, FWIW), and I find some whiners.
    *smh*
    Shame. I hate people that go out of their way to spread their miserable attitude. Who the hell doesn't have unlimited data nowadays? Jeez, get a real phone and get off the pre-paid burner, pal.
    And I usually stop a video a few minutes in if I'm not enjoying it. I'm certainly not sitting thru 25 minutes of video I don't like.
    Do fly fisherman usually grump like old ladies in this manner?

      I find the snobbiest fly fishermen are old white European men.

    • @brantmerrill9099
      @brantmerrill9099 3 года назад +1

      The ‘Old White Europeans’, as well as real Fly Fishermen, are out on the water...not complaining on virtual platforms.
      I believe the ‘Whiners’ you refer to are doing it from their homes, scratch that, their MOM’s BASEMENT.

    "I have to fight him gingerly, I have 4X tippet". I know you are not a new fly fisher. Most modern 4X tippet have break strengths of 5# - 7# and you could of landed a 24" steelhead with 4X. Nice video though.

      I thought the same thing. 4x isn’t super light tippet.

    Over a minute and a half of music and intro. That’s a waste of precious data. It’s too bad that you have to through that onto the beginning of your videos, people with data limits avoid tutorials with all the extra video that teaches nothing.

    25minutes of little baby rainbows..Boring.

      @jarretjordan3837 4 года назад

      Ya, these guys missed the good holes. I live up in those parts. Fished that river for over 25 years
      Personal best is a 13lb brown. Dozens from 5-10 pounds and a few around 12. So many 3-5 pounders I couldn't remember. These clipped finned rainbows are just food for the big browns I catch at night! I only clicked cause it was local waters. These "guides" just phones this trip in. I hope. If not they're worse fisherman than i thought...
