Absolutely awesome video. The information on the nature of the fish is so valuable. What good is the right equipment if you don’t understand how to get the fish!
Great video. It's nice to see fly fishermen who don't act like it's impossible for other people to learn how to fly fish. It's way easier than most people think, just learn how to roll cast and you'll do well.
My last fishing trip was a huge success. I walked in among a bunch of other fishermen who were wearing all manner of fancy fishing gear and clothes with huge tackle boxes wearing jeans and a t-shirt with just my 40 year old fishing rod and a small bag. I had five bites and I caught five fish (the limit) and walked away with a healthy stringer of fish and the knowledge that I was the only one there who caught any fish. A beautiful thing.
Many years ago my Bride and I put our boat into a small stocked lake that held a lot of Rainbows and Browns that made our Province's Master Angler list several times a year. It was a very hot sunny day so using natural bait we fished the deep holes with no success. There were also three float fly fishermen fishing the edges of the deep spot again with no success. So, we decided to pack it in at the hottest part of the day. As we pulled up to the dock and launch there was an old retired local fishing off the dock in three feet of water. He was using worms and had a 40 year old spinning rig. We watched in amazement and sadness for ourselves as he pulled in two three to four pound rainbows in just minutes. He told us he comes weekly to get "table fish" ! We were so disgusted we went golfing the rest of the day.
Hey tom just a silly for you if you cast with your right arm why do you reel with your right ifind it much easier to reel with my left just wondering by the way you are my go to for fly fishing knowledge
After watching this, I now want to give up. Was that the objective? Throughout the video, the reoccurring theme was "but than again, trout might not act like that at all" "but they might also strike at anything" and "sometimes a tail water is another river and they all can be anything at anytime" and basically " well ya really don't know for sure, on any given day or hour the water temp could change by 2 degrees and it's all different" So it's always just a bunch of guesswork trying to outsmart an animal with a brain half the size of a tic tac and you can pack up and drive 7 hours, spend 2 days on the river and like the guys said who were leaving when I got there, "well, you should have been here yesterday!" Yeah, this is a pastime that is going to help me relax??????????
I disagree I think that drone footage has it place bit so man shows, videos are filled with b-roll drone footage that dose nothing except take up my time trying to obtain info... #overused... not saying all bad but....

@6:44 fish rise like 5 feet behind Tom to the left
When you get a chance, visit southern Indiana and show us where the trout are in our rivers and streams.
Thanks, Tom

Good vid.
Did you know that you sound like Tandy in "The Last Man on Earth"?
Farmington!!!!
What state? Colorado or NY?
New York and Pennsylvania
How to find Trout in Rivers and Streams Anywhere, even if they are not there. Let's get started, I`m pumped.
Anywhere? Come find a trout in the Ohio River. Cmon man.
Go where they dump the bucket, it's as simple as that.

Possibly, if we can let go of the results and enjoy the doing. He gave us some nuggets to help improve our chances.
Sounds like you have the wrong attitude for fishing anyways
Trout don't live in all streams.
Trout for clout
Guys, this video needs to be updated using a drone. Period.

@@nline2blast722also, the noise on those fuckers... It's very hard to justify bringing that shit to any nature area unless it's absolutely necessary.
Ummmmm.... let's just go with IF trout are there to begin with. Here in south Florida it's barren of trout all the time.
I bet you money I can show you some rivers and streams where there are none
first you must be at a river or stream that has trout
dead dogs more like
AS ALWAYS A WEALTH OF INFORMATION, THANK YOU SIR...
Way too much handling. I try to not touch any fish and C&R only. Even if it's a trophy 🏆.
NOTHING BEATS TIME ON THE WATER EH, BIE?
