Nice video... **👍
Awesome..love it..👍
Lovely video as always Thanks for sharing your adventures I really enjoy you videos and find your content informative
I’m going to give the beetle a tie and test. Thanks for introducing it to us all Mick.
Please try and improve it, but as a body its good for its floating capability's. Regards Mick
i’ve had quite a bit of success with a bright pink bead headed version as well as the orange …. 👍👍
Brilliant fly 🤝💯
This is mad, love it !!
I know. am going to get banned from PTF i can see it coming.
You show the uv resin etc but can you lease list them as stopping the video to write the down is a pain also what uv torch do you recommend, thanks not used uv before .
I have a standalone lamp which you can get here. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09MLRDHCJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Does just putting nail varnish over the buzzer work just as well ? Or do you need to go with uv?
@@brianwalton3016 never used nail varnish, but if it's good stuff it should work just as good.
love them ty
❤ luv your videos md tks 😊
Mick. So I don’t have to go hunting around, where do you buy your coffee beans from? Are they Java?
No I grow my own, I got a kit for a Christmas present, the seeds come in bags of 500. Regards Mick
Great video.shame about your river.there can be lots of factors about declining fish stocks or catches.weather can play a big part but also otters mink cormorants herons and the good old poachers pollution can't help upstream either.the water companies are releasing raw sewage which tend to release more nitrates which inturn produces more algae so lowers oxygen levels. Good luck with the rest of the season.
It is strange, a lad last week had a 4lb brown on a worm, we would catch 6-8 in a few hours here, but now its 1 or 2, I need to move further down the river past the works, but it about parking near as well. Thanks for watching Regards Mick
Would have been nice to see more of the flies
Video 252 shows the Japanese Beetle and the first one in this video is very new and shown before using it.
Really enjoying your videos, thanks for making them so interesting. I have bought some of your flies haven’t tried them yet, but they look great.
Thanks for that, trying to get about on different waters, today I was going to be Arnfield, but its closed on a Monday ha ha, the summer months can be difficult, so why not try something strange like a coffee bean, well its works, waiting to try out the teabag fly next. Thanks for the comment and watching Regards Mick
You don’t use an indicator? How deep do you fish roughly? Thank you!!!
I did in this video I had the buzzer about 24ich under the bung, but if i fish it as a single fly without the bung, the buzzer normally stays at about 1 - 2 ft with a slow fig 8 or letting it drift in the wind with the fly line keeping it strolling along at a slow pace.
@@mdflyfishinguk5220 Thank you very much!!!!
How does it stand up when a fish takes it surely the bean gets ripped off?
The fly stands up well when casting, but when a trout hits it hard its gone, but i did mention in the video about this and that i make up about 15 at a time, only fished it on 2 days over the year, in fact its getting an outing tomorrow on a local river. Thanks for watching and the comment Regards MD
@@mdflyfishinguk5220 sorry I watched it with no volume 🤣
Love this and just tried tying a few. The only extra thing I’ve added is peacock herl, trimmed flat on the top, to give an impression of the beetle’s under body. Can’t wait to give it a try 👍
Had a corker of a fish today on the good old jap bug 🤙🤙 well thought of MD 👍🏼💯
Excellent, I had a good brown last week and a few roach that knock about the water took the beetle as well. Thanks for watching and the comment Regards Mick
Hi mick what kind of uv light do you use cheers
Hi i have one of these clipped to my tying desk, which is easy to turn on and off with a simple switch, The head is mounted on an adjustable arm which can be positioned anywhere before you need it. www.amazon.co.uk/Black-Light-Curing-Lamp-Wavelength/dp/B09MLRDHCJ Regards Mick
@@mdflyfishinguk5220 many thanks mick for the speedy reply keep up the vids they’re great 👍
Remember you can add legs, target points, spots etc, This is just showing how a coffee bean can be a great floatant for the beetle. For the full story see this page. about-flyfishing.com/fly-patterns/japanese-beetle-fly-with-coffee-beans/
I’ve heard of using a coffee bean but never actually tie one as a fly. Thank you. Now I’m wondering if there is a breakfast cereal fly to go with my morning coffee fly. ;-)
Good question! its an idea for the body of the beetle, you can still add legs and stuff, but as a bean its got taste. Thanks for watching and the comment. Regards MD
Genius! After straining my eyes trying to watch a slowly sinking foam beetle at Pennine a few days ago…this is perfect! Not sure the trout at Pennine need caffeine though 😂😂
You can spot the top of the bean or put a tag on it, I've done some with a red tag hi vis on the base of the hook hook
What a brilliant idea 👌
Glad you think so! but using it at as body, with extras it better at staying afloat. Thanks for the comment Regards MD
every season theres somethin impresses me that ive not seen b4 and another angler shows me , youve won the title this year mick, outstandin mate 👍👍🎣
Read it online and thought i would give it a go, so last Saturday it went on to the water and even thu it was a hot day it worked, about-flyfishing.com/fly-patterns/japanese-beetle-fly-with-coffee-beans/
Great! Could also add some legs
@@imchrisme5514 Yes add legs or a head, this page was my information to try out. about-flyfishing.com/fly-patterns/japanese-beetle-fly-with-coffee-beans/
Hi mick, great videos hope you showed Andy your coffee bean fly before you used it? What’s next dog biscuits tied to hooks, because someone will try it ,still great videos
@garylacey5815 no it's only getting the one outing here, as I will get banned ha
Another cracking video Mike! I was up at Ryburn on Tuesday in the vary far right corner had 6 in 3 and a half hours and there was millions of minnows swimming about. The trout chasing behind, bizarre day but they were very active!
Are they deadly flies and do you tie your own? 1:18
In the colder months yes, please read the feed back Regards MD www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256421547528

Enjoying your pulling buzzer. Saved me from a few blanks on a recent Hebrides trip for wild brownies. Thank you for the introduction!
Enjoying your videos very much, i've been to all manner of lancashire trout fisheries and res' - naturally quite challenging outside of the fisheries of late. I don't recognise this spot, are day tickets available?
scratch that, seen earleir comment. tight lines
yes they are and the water level is down too, again can be difficult with the weather, i like to fish it when the water is high between, Oct - Apr

Craftsman at work. Was out this morning on the Rede in Northumberland, fish were playing hard to get. Caught my first Dace on the fly.
This was difficult day, so just filmed it as an outdoor venture and put Toms filming together. Regards Mick .
Excellent video Mick.. Loved seeing that other fish hit the fly whilst you'd just released that netted fish... That's why we do it... Its always surprising
For sure, at first i thought i had not unhooked the fish, but i then watched the video back that Thomas had filmed and saw the fly in slow motion leave the net and land in the water. keep well Regards Mick
