Hi after a mad week of tying and posting , I have just reopened the shop for awhile, so follow the link to our ebay sales. Regards Mick www.ebay.co.uk/usr/mdflyfishinguk
Hi mick I’ve received the flies they are top quality!!!mate much appreciated looking forward to getting out Sunday 🎣 next time we head up to pennine I’ll let you know I owe you a pie an a coffee thanks mick 🎣🎣🎣🎣
I always give the bottom lake ago when i go to Pennine except i think its better to fish a little bit further down the dam wall. Hoping to go to pennine this week weather dependent. Do they do hot food in the cafe as it would be quite convenient if i could get a pie half way throw the day? Looking forward to see some river videos.
All my rods are 5/6wt sigma rods 10ft, 9ft the reel in this video, which i use the most are true fly 5/6, same style as this one www.ebay.co.uk/itm/276529725826?itmmeta=01J1QT12WEPP8G0EJKXG5MZ06J&hash=item406274c182:g:O-cAAOSwtdRmf9E2&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAAwAFODBld5gHM7ZRVOrUOEVKYs88VxCTRuXUoy%2F7%2F4AMo5whLudV%2B398OlmNUIfPpjeQA4keurc0gnVyeodzoDtQgrLHGRev1BOga66YPX%2F1kJBH8wihyOtq7SgyRWXHWQo%2BeiNoSgGZZzDiqUZo2EbvJ7iVIcJKVBs6X9qqvR3iaUD%2BIgZGpCeXL2bdNELmQMDxBd7mCzTFrZqxntPaX920H8VSZstgfqdAv6MKMkafukG%2F4em5%2Fxozpl4%2Fw%2FxefWA%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR6yuhPqNZA
Picked up my first fly rod, plan on getting out out in a few weeks. Would these flies work on a floating line or is their something else anyone would recommend? Thanks
These would work ok if the leader is 12/14ft which will give you some depth and the fly some movement, but i use them on a inter line because this place can go to 24ft deep. regards Mick
this is the best fishery in the country imho, Dever Springs et al will price themselves out of the market not many will be able to afford to fish there often, don't get me wrong nice fish there, and i understand the price of fish and landscaping etc will have gone up the price increase was massive, i won't be going back.
Hi, question for you. "Are Pennine fish more active in the morning or in the afternoon?" As I find different fisheries have different active times. Regards Derrill in Lancashire.
Hi I don't start fishing here until after 9, but yes for the first few hours people do catch a lot, then the fish drop, but late afternoon is another time it picks up. The indicator with the fly fished at different depths throughout the day will get you constant hook ups near the surface, I fish an intermediate line a lot searching for the fish as they drop, let the line drop 2ft and add more time for 4ft. 8ft or in my last video at the end of the day I was letting it sink near the bottom and just a slow figure 8 and that hooked my biggest fish. In short fish will swim at different levels in the water due to sunlight or air pressure and that is when you need to fish at different depths. 2 rods floating line long leader for the top to 6ft and an intermediate for the depth searching. Thanks for watching Regards MD
I live in the southwestern US and have been intrigued with the stillwater fishing over in the UK. I really enjoy your channel and others like it and over the last few years I’ve employed a number of tactics and flies I’ve seen. My question is, how much do you guys have to spend a year to actually fish, not gear and flies? In my state (Arizona), for $37, I can basically fish the entire state for a year, with the exception of fishing on a reservation which I occasionally do. Granted the fish aren’t the quality you’re catching in this video
This water is £35 per day, my other water is £120 per year and my local river is £30 as a member for the whole year, plus our water permit is £30 per year. Thanks for watching Regards MD
£33. For a year game license to fish. Many free rivers in England to fish. I only fish wild rivers for wild brown trout. Clubs have ponds and maintained river sections in places. But lots of free fishing here in Yorkshire We don’t have native rainbow trout in England. Only in one river I believe from escaping stocked water yrs ago.Trout in rivers are all Brown trout.
