- This was our last fly fishing session before the season closed, and what a way to end the season! We fished with small streamers and caught so many beautiful wild trout. Some really aggressive takes on the streamer, definitely one of my favourite ways to catch trout!
We'll be back after the trout come spring next year, can't come soon enough!
All the best Спорт
Strip strike ! You’re striking like with wets 🇮🇪 Great session 👌👌
This is really good advice mate and I’d do well to remember it! There’s so many different types of fly fishing and I often forget you do different strikes/casts etc for different styles. Off out on the streamers today so I’ll try remember to strip strike haha.
All the best, Niall
Great video, love fishing the Calder
Thanks mate! Yeah brilliant river isn’t it, loads of trout!! Cheers, Niall
Apart from great fishing, I love your filming skills! Well done lads!
Thanks Mike appreciate the feedback mate 😊 all the best, Niall
Great video some lovely brown trout there 👍
Thanks mate appreciate it! Dare say that some of these trout were as nice as the ones you get north of the border! Cheers, Niall
Another great vlog well done lads
Thanks Ian appreciate the support, glad you enjoyed the vid 🙂
Great stuff, and so much variation in the colours of the fish.
The wild ones are just next level, never fail to amaze us! Thanks for the ongoing support mate.
Nice. The best thing about these lads is....minnows or monsters....they`re always chuffed with the catch.
Nailed it mate, its all about being in the river and just enjoying whatever comes your way. Thanks for the kind feedback 👍
What a way to finish the trout season lads, doing Yorkshire proud 👏 . Cracking session !
Now its time to find some monster Grayling 🤘
Ilive in lincs nxt door no trout streams a few lakes. River eau is ok but hard to get on. Love to live there.
Yeah very lucky to live in Yorkshire, lots of good trout rivers here! Thanks for watching mate, all the best, Niall
possibly your best yet! belting sport, expertly presented and edited. when you had the "purple patch" did it coincide with the river colouring up slightly after the heavy showers? that tends to be a good streamer time on my local stream, though the trout are smaller here!! 👍👏👏👏
Thanks so much mate very kind words indeed! Great shout there re. the rain, you're right though the mad 10 minutes was right after it had pissed it down. We'll have to sort out a fly fishing session come next spring mate 👍
@@albionangling yes! Yorks Calder!
Ironically, the lancs Calder is also improving rapidly, next year I should have club membership on some interesting bits!
@@soultrader57fishingandmusi25 Sounds good mate! We have a few spots round us that would be good to go to. Got plenty of time to think about it and plan something anyway hah, Niall
Great but you could have explained your set up.......
Ahh yes it's a really simple set up. You can see the type of small micro-streamers we were using. These were fished on a light set up 10ft 3wt rod with a 12ft tapered leader, down to 3-4lb tippet. I find a longer rod helps with casting, which can of course be difficult when chucking weighted flies. Cheers, Niall
@@albionangling Well we couldn't really see the streamers that well. They look like little buggers? You didn't specify the hook size or whether you were using tungsten bead etc.......Wow you fishing very light with a 4 pound tippet for streamers!
@Jonathon Roberts they're small weighted streamers, some with a tungsten head some not, depends how fast flowing the water is. Hook size ranges from 4 to 10, I've found that all size/colour variations work well. A good go to is the olive wooly bugger www.flyshopeurope.com/micro-crystal-olive-wooly-bugger/
Sorry you didn't get the info you needed from the video. We don't usually put that much tackle info in there as we don't get asked that much, might have to change that going forward. Either way we'll always be happy to tell you our tackle/methods if you ask 😊 cheers, Niall
@@albionangling Just I've dabbled into streamer fishing and trying to do it more serious next year. Some people use very heavy jig flies and a french leader. Seen others using fairy heavy 6 or 7 weight set ups and sinking lines.
Thanks for commenting what I was about to comment upon. Just getting back into this after 30 years break so on market for new tackle hence question.
