I’ve tried the Mens Warehouse off the rack suits. The tailoring charges cost almost as much as the suit itself.

Helpful video but that price point is so compromised. I would recommend to buy a really high quality used suit for $200 and get it tailored. I did have a look at My Suit Tailor but these are all fused (glued) suits with very limited customization options. I couldn't choose the gorge height, the number of buttons on the cuffs, whether the cuffs should be working cuffs, the lapel width, the internal pockets, the width of the trouser bottoms, etc. It's really worth spending more for something that should last you for decades.

You have helped me so much. My ONLY question is this, Jos A Bank has the 1905 in MTM now with all the customizations. Yes it’s more expensive but if you could have gotten that suit made to your specs and options with that quality would you put that above my suit tailor or below? I know I’m splitting hairs , but this is my first suit, it’s for my wedding resolution and to use after . I’ll be buying 2 , one blue and one gray and can go either way. Im looking at the 450 suits from MST with his Italian Talia Di Delfino super 130 and the Jos A Bank MTM program. I THINK the MST ones will be the better quality and nicer wool, as the 1910 will be assuredly from a mill in Asia, but that’s a guess so I’m asking you.

I would recommend watching some videos on the construction of - decent! - suits and the craftsmanship behind them to get a better understanding of how the price comes together. It is something entirely different from just sewing a few standard sized pieces of cheap half-plastic fabric together.
