As you said the experience would differ from showroom to showroom and salesperson to salesperson. Mine was pleasant as I was given enough time to choose my fabric and I was quite satisfied with the way my measurements were taken. When the suits arrived the jacket was a bit loose and the trouser was a bit short. They fixed it within a week's time and I was told that my measurements were updated in their system. I ordered 3 more suits and these were perfect, I didn't have to go back to showroom as these 3 suits were absolutely perfect.
Great video and honest review! I wore my first MTM suit from Indichino suit for my wedding 3 years ago. The jacket was spot on but my pants were too long and had way too much fabric from the thigh down. Took it to my tailor and he fixed the issue. Had Indochino fixed the problem, they wouldn’t have finished it in time for the wedding. Cheers to all the reliable tailors!!
Thanks for chiming in. It’s common to need alterations with any custom, MTM, or bespoke suit (until your pattern is dialed in). Wasn’t out of the ordinary to have an issue with the pants, but it was the severity of the problem when they came the second time that was interesting to me.
Finally a credible, not shilly, not 'marketing' feel video in the classic menswear space. I may have different style preferences to you but I have a new found respect
Hello all... I have had a very wide suit experience .... beginning with a beautiful made to measure Ralph Lauren back in 1989 .... fantastic and loved it. Graduated to multiple Brioni’s from Neiman Marcus, Valentino, Kiton and even a Dominico Vacca - Prince of Wales double breast ... I spent a bloody fortune! A very close friend of mine recently got a post COVID 19 Neiman Marcus deal on an off the rack Tom Ford suit $1650 for a $5400 suit - that looked fabulous on him ... I called my Neiman guy and he said that was very short period ... oh well my loss and Newman’s. This is my reasoning to attempt and replicate a Tom Ford suit via Indochino?? Crazy presumption?? Yes I agree ... The only suits and jackets I have are the Domenico Vacca, Valentino crushed velvet dinner jacket and Kiton duponi silk dinner jacket. Then I tried so many more affordable off the rack suits .... horrible even after having my professional tailor attempt to fix the suits. Well .... I then tried Indochino. .... my first 3 suits were just okay. The pant legs were a little short, leg rise a little too short ... the suit felt compromised and of course a little cheap but the value was too good to pass up. I went back after a year and told the showroom person my concerns and refit .... went to a 3.5 peak lapel, slightly longer pants .... lower rise in the crotch.... the suits were perfect and needed zero modifications. Here is what I love about the Indochino program .... The fabric samples and lay out Pic stitching Wide lapels Working sleeve button wholes Dak waistband if requested Slanted pockets Ticket pockets Creative control over the lining, the buttons For the money .... one cannot beat the Indochino program .... it’s not perfect but boy oh boy it is really good. I bought 5 suits 3 standard and two luxury fabrics ..... I like the standard better for some reason .... I will go back and get a few more for fun! Good luck ... have fun!
Brian that’s why we love your channel. Honest and professional. Some other style channels try to shove their brands down your throat as the greatest things in the universe, makes them look like young boys and not grown man. You’re the best bro . Great video 👍
I'm so glad you were fair and honest. The guys over at Gents Lounge swear by Indochino and after watching their reviews one would think that Indochino is the holy grail of made to measure
Great review. I had a very similar experience with the brand. I chose to give Indochino a try for my wedding suite. I wish I would’ve gone with a different brand. My biggest negative was the showroom experience. Every employee is extremely young (nothing against younger workers). The employees seemed to have had very “cookie-cutter” training for tailoring and they didn’t give off a very passionate energy when it came to suites and fit.
Yeah, it’s not bad, as I say! I personally did not have the greatest experience and I have some qualms with the quality-especially being a fused garment-but could be a decent option.
Appreciate the honest review. Show room experience means nothing to me, glad the suit looks good for the price. I'll take a slightly sub par show room experience if it saves me money.
I appreciate the transparency right upfront. I enjoy your videos because your input is guided by your integrity. Please do not lose this as this is the foundation upon which we As watchers TRUST you.
I had a similar experience. I ordered trousers several years ago, just to give the brand a try. I'll just say, it was my first & last purchase. Great review. The honesty is appreciated.
SoOoOo what you’re saying is “No” on the “Slacks” but “YeS” the “CoAtS”? Finally a real review of the brand I have always questioned on price of “CuStOm” Mens Clothing. Thank You, B
Actually, with the help of my tailor, I would say that the pants fit great. The jacket needs some help, particularly in the pitch of the sleeve, the way the back lays, and the armholes being too low, which gives it a boxy look.
Very helpful and credible advice! I too purchased my first Indochino suit - DB herringbone in light brown - from a showroom. The fit was almost perfect; the pants required minor alterations. The lining wasn’t the same fabric I had originally selected. Where I was disappointed was in the limited customization and the lack of knowledge regarding the fabric sourcing. Since then I have opted for Suitreview which sources from SuitSupply. At this stage it’s all about quality.
Indochino has worked great for me. For an average consumer at a financial level, indochino is one of the better ways of attaining a suit. I usually have to have my indochino suits altered, but again, for an average consumer, indochino is the way to go in terms of affordability. I still agree with your entire critique though!
Brilliant review! I really appreciate your honest reviews- you set a great example. Your opinions and observations are really credible and the transparency is amazing!
Customer service: subpar Rushing me on measuring: same like yours (not desirable) Suit adjustment: 3 tries You pay for what you get. Is it affordable for most gents? I’d say yes and it does the part..BUT I’d say go for something else and save an extra $200-$400 for a better experience and flawless build. (My opinion of course)
Thank you! Finally someone with a similar experience to me reviews this company. For me it was the jacket that was off, but where the company fell flat was dealing with it. The process of three re makes leading to eventually asking for my money back took over a year to go through.
I have zero doubts in your integrity. I was skeptical about whether the company would pay special attention to your order given that it was a partnership so they obviously wanted to put their best effort into it. It says a lot about their products that they could not deliver a satisfactory result even with a partnership. Appreciate the video as always.
Enjoyed the very honest review. I myself had a positive experience with Indochino. I think the key is being measured in a showroom versus self measure. The man who measured me at the King of Prussia location was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. My suit was also not packaged as well as I hoped, however, I get every suit I buy cleaned and pressed anyway before wear. The suit for me was on point first try. The only alteration I had done was having a crotch liner added. The thing I like about Indochina is that I can be a bit of a creator myself. I prefer wider peak lapels in a single breast option. I also like train ticket pockets. I have a few completely bespoke suits, however, it is hard to find a wide peak lapel in a knock around suit.
I really wish all RUclips channels were like you Brian . Excellent reviewed without commercial bias . I did have bad experience with indochino , I had to tailor the suit many times and spent as much the suit cost .
In summer 2018 I was in Houston on vacation from my home country in Lagos, Nigeria it was my first visit to the US, and I had planned to make at least 5 custom made office suits in Houston. I had googled some few made to measure stores and settled for Indochino or Jos .A. Bank, my visit to Indochino at the Galleria mall was very disappointing, I met a bearded man and a lady, I was initially ignored after a while the bearded guy attended to me and I asked some few questions about the process and asked if it could be shipped since I've got just 1 week left in Houston, he told me no in an annoying manner and I took a walk and headed to Jos.A. service wasn't great at all. I have been a sales manager and consultant for many years in a multinational company so I know what kind of service's I expect. I agree with you on the displayed fabric, it was great at least you can see what you want.
After having purchased 3 suits from Indochino, I keep coming back to your video Brian. You nailed just about everything. One thing I’ve noticed is that the quality overall is really good for the price, however I would never buy side adjusters again. All 3 of my trousers have either ripped or fallen off. At first I thought it was a mistake on my end, tightening them too much. Come to find out, it’s fairly common. I will probably continue to buy from them, as the price point is perfect for my state in life now, and a tailored suit is the single BIGGEST confidence boost for a man in my opinion. At 5’9 165 lbs I can find off the rack suits that fit well, but something crafted to your body just can’t be beat, especially at this price point. Thanks for all your hard work with your videos! The fact that I can get trustworthy advice for free is just insane to me. Going to go pour myself a Negroni and finish my book. Cheers my friend!
As always, you are incredibly transparent and it's very refreshing. A lot of other channels are always trying to sell you something. Not you. "Just the facts mam, just the facts"
Just received my Indochino "Luxury" Harrowgate Charcoal Windowpane suit. My showroom/measurement experience was good, had a good staff member, answered all of my questions and took lots of measurements. The suit arrived within 4 weeks to Canada from China/Taiwan...so not bad. The fit is excellent for the most part, sleeves are a tad narrow at the cuff for a French cuff shirt, but otherwise, I'm impressed...and I'm a big guy who bought a tailored fit so not easy to get right. I'm marginally happy with the fabric quality. I chose one of the "Luxury" line fabrics and frankly it seems a little thin....so we'll see how it holds up. But the look of the fabric/pattern is nice. Honestly though, not sure if there's much difference between their Luxury fabrics line and the lower tier stuff, apart from pattern availability. So we'll see how the suit works out long term....paid $800 and change CAD, with tax. I've spent twice that at Harry Rosen for made to measure and they f*cked up my orders twice! That said, the fabric was much nicer.
@@ethan7062 So far, so good. Although I've only worn it 3 or 4 times as I don't wear suits every day....usually weddings or other events and I have a few other suits in the rotation. But it looks good, seems to wear well.
It's channels like this that educate and convince us to spend our money in a more wisely fashion. We learn to appreciate the quality and effort from stand alone/ single-store bespoke tailors; thus we'd rather end up visiting them. Thanks for the info!
If you can find a good OTR fit, it's a steal at the price for quality. Yes, no handwork on 99% ( although they did have a $600 suit in two colors with full canvassing and Milanese buttonhole, etc). So, yeah, I enjoy!
@Pizza Pizza I don't see why??? If they produce those that is extra SKU for each one. 48S, 48, 48L and if they do slim versions that is another 3 per chest size. They do custom in store and MTO online that can be taken further than the 46, sometimes 48s they stop at.
Thank you for your honest and informative review. I bought a suit about 3 months ago. My experience at the store was excellent. I didn't feel rushed at all. They took all the measures, asked for my preferences, gave suggestions. The pants were flawless. The jacket size was great, although I am not sure about the shoulders width. I think the jacket make my shoulders look narrower or at least don't have the effect of giving a better structure. Overall, I am satisfied. But I buy again, I would prefer to be measured again and bring the jacket I bought with me.
Thank you so much for your honesty! I purchased an Indochino suit based on other influencers rave "killing it" reviews and I was so disappointed. Not only did my suit fit terribly, but their customer service is nonexistent.
Great honest review! Such feedback is definitely needed! I had a somewhat similar experience. I think because they are shipping it with your initial measurements, they intentionally leave more space to make tailoring easier. With that being said, I had two additional alterations with them from the initial purchase also requiring them to send a new jacket because the half-canvas was a bit too thick for me. They were able to get the perfect fit for me, but it did take about 1.5 months. Imo, its' a great starter option and is cost-effective as they will cover all the charges to ensure that you're satisfied. I wouldn't recommend it if your looking for quality like SuitSupply or higher-end MTM brands or if you're crunched for time as it might take a while before they are able to get the fit right.
I mean, it's not a full MTM experience because you're not going to get the same options as you would with most makers, but you're paying less. Also indochino is half canvas not fused. I have had to dry clean one of my Indos and there was no bubbling. It's half canvas for sure. I have two indo's. Will I get another one, probably. Negs: 1. no hand stitching as far as I know. because of that the lapel roll is not going to be the best, and the suit doesn't move all that well with you. It feels heavier than it should. 2. lining material. Unlike the video, when I was there you could pick from so many linings. all kinds of funky stuff. The problem is it's crap material. It doesn't breath. As a result they make for poor summer suits, not bad in the winter though, although you'd still want a more breathable lining no matter the temp. 3. choices. I think you have two lapel sizes to choose from. You can't adjust the buttoning point, you can't play around with the gorge. Other things, like cuffs on the trousers, I think you get one size and that's it. Positives: 1. Providing you go into a showroom they should be able to dial you in pretty good. The one in calgary anyway is pretty good. The guy who measured me for my suit really dialed me in. 2. If you are hard to fit, then this is the best choice for you. I'm 44r but pretty round, I can't buy a 3 piece off the rack because the vest needs to be like 48 almost, at which point it's too long. The only way I can have a three piece is MTM, and Indo is far and away the cheapest route. 3. Fabric selection. Agree with this video, rather than looking at tiny swaths, which is what you'll do even if Canali, you can handle a big scarf. gives a good idea of what you're buying. 4. Price. Don't be such a picky baby. This applies to me. You're paying $500 for a half canvas MTM you cheap bastard, and you're complaining because you want a 1 and 1/4 cuff (that's usually my go to) or because you want the gorge an inch higher? Whatever buttercup. Deal. It's a $500 suit. the biggest negs are the lining material and the lapel roll. Lapel roll being the biggest neg of all. Also these negs might not be negs for too much longer, a few years ago indo was all fused suits. now they are half canvas construction. Maybe in a year they'll start with some hand stitching and with some better lining materials for an upcharge. Do I suggest one? depends. If someone is really heavy or really skinny it's a good call. If someone wants something specific like peak lapels or rope shoulders it's a good call. If someone is trying to outfit a wedding party it's a good call. If someone wants a good, basic suit and doesn't care about customization and generally a normal size something like a Jack Victor (also a half canvas suit) is better. Wool is about the same quality but the lining materials is better and the construction better.
My experience was similar to yours. I went to Indochino to purchase a suit for my wedding and didn't know what to expect. Never heard of them and only went to them because they had a specific fabric design that I liked called the Lancaster Stretch Check Light Blue Suit. When I went to the showroom I also found that they had an odd way of measuring - they told me they go off of silhouettes. When I got my suit 4 weeks later the length of the pants was great, the width of the thigh, knee and leg opening were also perfect. However, the seat was a little tight to the point it felt like it was wedging. Had to get that adjusted, of course. Jacket length was good and although he measured my wrist circumference correctly, the wrist on the suit was wide. Came correctly on the bicep, but widens out at the wrist. The shoulder length felt a quarter inch short and the stomach was a bit snug. Indochino made the modifications to my suit except for the wrist, which was still left wide. I took that to a different tailor that I trusted and he fixed that issue in time before my wedding. All in all, for budget customized suits it isn't bad and the suit looked good for my wedding after the necessary modifications, but I wasn't impressed either upon getting it and even thought if I should just go elsewhere to get a different suit at first. Fortunately I didn't and it was saved after two alterations. Are they better than going to a traditional bespoke suit store? I wouldn't say so, but if you're on a budget or if you happen to see the perfect fabric design like I did, then it may be worth it.
It is very uncommon to hear about such an honest and unbiased review like yours. I wish I had listened to this review before ordering my suit from Indochino. Honestly, I was very disappointed as the suit was my first customed suit. I thought it was going to be a step up from my previous already-made $ 200 JF Ferrari suits. I went to the show room in Milwaukee to have my measurement taken. The showroom experience was great. The saleperson was very knowledgeable and helpful. My suit arrived about a month later, looking totally like something picked off the rack, nothing customized. My measurements were totally messed up.
Really appreciate that. I would encourage you to consider our MTM service: hespokestyle.com/shop/ Superior quality. Less than Suitsupply. Better service. In fact, we are the only online MTM service that offers an in-home try-on garment -- similar to a basted. Spier & Mackay may seem "cool" but the truth is that they've simply been ripping off my own styling for years and just putting it on a mannequin -- I've got no love for them. I'd love to offer you a discount on your first order if you'd like to give us a try. Use code HSSFIRST10 for 10% off the entire order. Really hope to serve you in the future!
Great channel. I finally subscribed after this video. I had been watching a lot of Gentleman's Gazette, but I found them a little too particular and unconcerned about price. Your channel has shorter videos (but not too short), clear presentation, advice for average people, and someone who is scrupulous about transparency. Keep up the good content. Best of luck.
Great video, we finally have an honest RUclipsr who doesn’t compromise for money. I ordered a suit from indochino and when it came in the pants were ripped and the suit was extremely wrinkled. I did send the pants back and they sent me a new pair but this was very annoying.
Thanks for your honesty. I would have tried Indochino if they were near my location but they weren't. I would never buy a suit online, always go somewhere where they measure you.
The salesperson is everything. I have 2 indochino suits. The first one a bought years ago and the fit was so bizarre I had to take it to my tailor for several adjustments. I live in a smaller city in canada so I don't exactly have a huge selection of retailers. I saw several reviews of people saying the brand had put in some work to be better and decided to give them a second chance. The salesperson was great in terms of giving time, discussing and altering fit and I was very happy with my second suit. Not a perfect suit and not nearly as good as bespoke but for the price it is solid. I've since bought a few shirts and I have tweaked my measurements with the brand a few times to get it dialed in but I'm happy with what they provide for me now. It took a while to get there, but it fits great and I've since bought a few shirts and casual pants. I don't disagree with this review and can see why anyone could feel this way about the brand. Again, if you're willing to put the time in and get it right, it can be a great option.
As a young dude that is suit shopping on a budget, IC has been an OK suit for my price range. However, I’ve had fit issues multiples times with the suits I have received, and I’m not confident they can deliver without any problems. Normally, the sleeves come out of the box too long with a weird uneven opening. Between waiting for a fixed garment/taking it to my tailor, it’s not worth it to me anymore. This review has solidified that opinion of mine, thanks Brian!
This is an amazing review of Indochino. I have had experience with them and they did get various of my measurements wrong. The fabrics are pretty nice, but the measurements were off.
As other people have stated I admire your honesty. Your passion for sartorial clothing is obvious and I would also be very pedantic when something as important as proper fit is concerned. This is one of the reasons why I subscribed to this channel. You speak my language. Thank you Brian.
Really appreciate the honesty. In Europe it wasn’t easy in the past to get so that’s the reason I haven’t tried it. My only mtm experience is with Suitsupply in Amsterdam and Milano. The Milano one was not that great and the one in Amsterdam was amazing, I’m guessing it’s because they spoke waaay better english in Holland. The fabric selection is endless and there are plenty of options to customise. I was curious of an online mtm experience even if it meant I’ll have less options to customise because while I use the excuse of a city break to get 2-3 jackets or suits it’s starting to get expensive when you factor in travelling costs
Hey Brian. Thanks for the super honest review. My brothers and I went into an Indochino showroom to get measured for his wedding and the sales person told us they’d need a 4 month turnaround time. Definitely not impressed but now after watching your review, I don’t think we missed out on much.
He Spoke Style Yup. I checked the website after we left the showroom and it said 2-3 weeks so I’m guessing he just didn’t want to measure three guys back to back.
I tried Indochino recently out of curiosity and had a very similar experience. I sent my suit back for adjustments but have a feeling I will need to take it to my tailor. The jacket was quite boxy and there was some strange buckling in the chest area. The measurement process was the same as your experience. Thank you for a straightforward review. I find your videos and recommendations very useful.
Hey Brian, first of all, I really appreciate your honesty; that's what brings value to this amazing channel! Now, the transformation of the pants is really outstanding: I noticed that the fit out of the box was so bad also because of the central crease line falling away from the center of your shoes. How did you fix that? What alteration is needed?
I have ordered a few suits from them. It took a couple suits to dial it all in. I call these my fun suits.. Maybe you get 3 years.. I do have Bespoke suits that are on a different level. I used the showroom in NYC originally before they expanded to Chicago. Both the Chicago locations have been great. At the price point it is not bad.
My suit came from a DHL box. The source address was a place in China. It took Indochino about a month to get my suit sent to my home. I bought 3 suits and that may be why. I liked the suits that I bought. I’m a police officer, and when I do some off duty executive protection work, then I’ll wear one of my Indochino suits.
Love this review. I was, actually, going back and forth between Indochino and Suit Supply. I was leaning more towards S.S. This video, effectively, made my decision easier. As a sidebar, I would love to go truly bespoke. But, my suit wearing days are limited to Sunday's and special events. Therefore, I can't justify the price in doing so.
Well, think about it this way. A bespoke or higher-end MTM will last a very long time. And if you're only wearing it on the weekends, you're likely to have that suit for a long, long, long time.
He Spoke Style Thanks! I’ve read and seen IG posts about the brand saying very nice things. The photos of their suit jackets leave me wondering. They seem so have too sloped of shoulders and a flared bottom of the coat. (Not attractive to me personally) I’ll just wait for a proper review by you.
The only Lifestyle & Fashion Channel worth while watching. I just cancelled subscriptions for all other channels. Thank you for being such a great inspiration!
Despite the imperfections you are the kind of person who knows how to make it....Brian you are the 21st century version of William Powell playing Philo Vance..very smooth...urbane..sophisticated..always stylish...SMILE....peace...you and your wife..with what is now going on in world ..be safe
As a former employee of Indochino, I conquer with you, sir. You are all better off finding MTM garments elsewhere. From my experience -even as an employee-it took months until my fit was dialed in because of factory mess-ups. And every suit I got had quality issues. The side tabs ALWAYS broke and the fused jackets NEVER draped properly near the front button stance. It would behoove you all to avoid this brand and pay a little more for higher quality, full canvased suits elsewhere. The prices may be enticing here but it’s not worth it! Thank for the honest review, Brian! Enjoy your channel!
Thank you for this video. I appreciate your review/critique of Indochino. It is a pity though that you flat out would not recommend them. I have 4 Indochino suits and like you I experienced a few issues when I got my first one. The fit of the jacket was spot on. It was about an inch longer than I preferred but it quickly grew on me. The pants fit perfectly around the waist but the length was a tad bit longer than desired. I quickly realized that if I wear them with suspenders the length was actually perfect. The opening was a standard 8" which was about an inch wider than I prefer. I do my own pants alterations and that was a minor issue so I just tapered them myself. My second suit was a double breasted suit... I had ordered this one before I had a chance to try the first so the issues were the same. Only problem though was that for a double breasted that length was way too long. They offered a remake and it came back perfect - jacket length, trouser length and leg opening. Their customer service was excellent and I subsequently bought two more which fit perfectly out of the box. I would definitely recommend Indochino for anyone who wants a decent suit and dont have a ton of money to splurge. If you are looking for a perfect fit out of the box then this may not be for you. You will need to get minor adjustments to ensure its perfect. If that's too much hastle and you have the money then by all means go bespoke.
Thanks for sharing that, Osbourne. One of the biggest things for me is that it's a fused garment. You're not going to get a ton of life out of that no matter how you look at it. I agree with you though, that for the price it's not completely terrible.
I think this review summarizes Indochino very well. I have purchased most all of my dress clothing there and am generally happy with their concept of made-to-measure, the quality of material, and the prices. However, the clothing never fits close to what it is supposed to (even after several times of adjusting the measurements) and I often need to revisit their showroom tailor multiple times to get it right. I once had one of their tailors tell me to “just stick it in the wash and it will come out the right size.” At the end of the day, I am happy with the final product for what I paid, but I suggest to be prepared for months of fittings and extra tailorings if you want it to be just right.
It's not uncommon with any MTM company (or bespoke, for that matter) to have multiple fittings. But there are quality and quality control issues with Indochino, I believe.
I live in Houston, and my office is 3 blocks up from the Galleria where this Indochino is located. My go-to OTR suits and sports coats are mainly Zegna and Corneliani, but I just buy a 58L and have the tailoring done, which has always fit me fine (with those two brands). I've never tried a MTM program before. I decided to stop into Indichino to check out the MTM experience, and pickup a suit or two just to see what it was like. Thought I could grab something a little bolder than my typical attire, push my comfort zone a bit, without gambling the money involved in my normal Italian favorites. I left during the measuring processes. I had no faith what-so-ever, that anyone on the staff there had any competency level in measuring someone for a suit properly. I don't expect them to be master tailors or cutter, but I'd really love to see what the training is for one of these associates. It seems like for Made-To-Measure, everything hinges on the "measure" part of the process, and they should really be focusing on that.
@@hespokestyle I just stopped by this location again today. Completely different staff on hand. Much more competent than the last crew. While trying on the test garments he immediately spotted the problem areas, and made what I feel were the proper adjustments. I went ahead and gave it a shot, ordering a complete 3 piece with some ties and pocket squares. Should be a bit after New Years to recieve them. Guess we'll see then, but at least the initial interaction was much improved.
Update* Just received the new suit yesterday. For the $299 sale price I bought this for, I absolutely couldn't be happier. For general information, I'm 6'3" 220 with a 48" chest, a 39" actual waist and typically wear a 36x34 in a pant. So I typically have a good bit of tailoring done to anything OTR to get it dialed in to my liking. Jacket, all the way around, is a great fit. Perfect size through the shoulders, good slope for my build, proper pitch on the sleeve (again, for my personal build). Functional button cuffs right at the length I prefer and specified in the fitting process. Button stance is perfect, and waist taper is spot on. Vest is sized perfect. Length is just right. Good fit through the chest and a good taper for the waist, without being too snug. Pants were perfect on the leg opening and length. I haven't gained a pound since the initial fitting, but find the pants to be about a 1/2 inch too snug. Not too tight as to be uncomfortable, or straining, but I'll have them let out a tad in the future. Not even worth running downtown to Indochino for. They're close enough, I'll just drop them at my personal tailor next time I'm over his way. Construction and materials... is honestly pretty good. Handling back-to-back with one of my Canali or Zegna (mainline) jackets, it's clearly not in the same category. Much stiffer feeling through both fabric and construction. The Canali I compared it to, for example, seriously feels like wearing a long-sleeve T-shirt. It's sooo comfortable and naturally moving as it drapes on the body. The Indochino has a decently cut armhole, and had an overall good range of motion, but just doesn't measure up on overall feel and comfort. Part of that's due to what's simply lower grade fabrics, lining, and the "half-canvassed" construction. It actually does compare pretty well to a couple Hugo Boss and Brooks Brothers suits I own (which are fused construction). Blind folded, there's a clear difference in feel from my upper tier OTR full canvassed brands, but I can't truly mark any difference in feel, visible stitching quality, and other build elements between the Indochino and my lower tier OTR suits. I would absolutely buy 2 or 3 more suits like this from Indochino over a single fused suit from Hugo Boss, Armani Collezioni, Brooks Brothers, other fashion brands etc... One particular thing I would change is the lining material. It's not terrible, but is a 52/48% poly/viscose blend. At least it's nearly 50% viscose, so it should breath pretty well, but of course I would prefer 100% viscose or cupro.
Totally agree with the review. Had a suit made a few years back. They made the pants wayyy to tight cause they thought it would look better on me instead of what I liked (I have big calves), and after 3 alterations with their tailor in store they refused to remake them. To this day I like the suit but rarely wear it because of the pants, jacket is decent.
I had a completely positive experience with Indochino. I went the showroom in McLean, VA (south of DC) and was given all the time in the world...never felt rushed. When I received the suit, it was a bit wrinkled, as you pointed out, but 5 mins using a hand steamer is no biggie. Fit of the coat was flawless, as was the shirt and vest I also chose to order. Pants were slightly loose around the waist (no slide adjusters), so I took them to the showroom to have them taken in slightly, and then they fit perfectly.
He Spoke Style I mean, it’s a MTM suit for ≈$400. Sure, you can spend a bit more for higher quality at say, Suit Supply...but for the price and convenience, Indochino is a not a bad option at all I would also like to point out that they will reimburse you up to $75 for any tailoring you need to have done if the fit is not just right. They do require a photocopy of the receipt, however.
It's funny as I just saw my bespoke tailor in L. A. gave him a very, very detailed list- DETAILED!!! I wanted a full break (I am ex-military and that's the way I like it). Tried them on yesterday and a wanted a pocket cut on the bias, I was quite specific even giving the bespoke tailor a detailed DETAILED list. Full break on the hem---nope, not even close! 2" above the top of the shoe. It's like did you read my list? He is going to correct these errors- how is going to turn cowboy pockets into pockets on the bias is a mystery to me but suffice to say won't be using him again. How someone can mess up a pair of trousers when I give him a WRITTEN VERY DETAILED LIST is beyond my comprehension. I sympathize with you Mr. MODERATOR!
@@hespokestyle Like many other online MTM companies who focus on consumers new to menswear they often focus on marketing and trend-chasing as proofing. They also get away with less than ideal production standards as newbies 1) don't know what to look for and 2) may not have the experience or developed the personal taste to know a) their style b) what suits them. Menswear is so much more in the detail and nuanced!
Your video has confirmed every suspicion I had with Indochino especially regarding the measurement process. Will be going with Oliver Wicks instead for wedding. Thank you for valid input.
Love the honest review, in spring of 2017 before there was a showroom in the Carolinas every youtuber suggested them (payola of course)and given that this was my entry point in custom suiting of course I was pumped! However after going through the intimidating (at the time) process I got the suit in about 4 to 6 weeks and the suit had potential but the fit was absolutely off it was about 2 sizes bigger than it was supposed to be arms on the suit looks like 2 trash bags no exaggeration and when I contacted them I got a pretty smug reply about the fit I have to add I was out of town for two weeks before trying on so maybe a bit of it is on me but in the practice of good customer service as a big business the problem wasn’t corrected. I call it the suit with so much potential, I wore it only twice since April of 17 quick added point I took the suit to 2 different reputable tailors and it just couldn’t be corrected and I’m not even gonna start with the trousers. I appreciate your honesty Mr. Sacawa
Hey Brian, great review and video as always. I'm sure you know your audience, but I would like to suggest a video targeted to younger men on how to wear classic menswear items without trying too hard or spending tons of money. I think a lot of guys (myself included) love tailoring, but have a hard time incorporating it into super casual outfits. Best regards!
Brian, this video illustrates just how important it is to find a trusted tailor. I think it's fair to not expect any MTO/MTM to fit well 1st try but 2nd try they should be able to work out the kinks. However, if on 1st try the key fit points are good (shoulders, button stance, rises, and nothing is too tight), One could make a case to conclude the transaction, save time and frustration and allow your trusted tailor handle the tailoring. I think your tailor did an excellent job.
Another great soup-to-nuts video...thanks for all the detail, Brian. I'm in the process of having a sport coat made at Indochino. So far, so good. I really liked my salesman (the store manager), didn't feel rushed etc., and felt he had good attention to detail with measurements, but this was my first made to measure experience, so nothing to compare it to. I've heard lot of good things about Oliver Wicks too and may try them next time, but I like the idea of a brick and mortar where someone can measure me, and where I can see all the fabrics which O Wicks doesn't offer. My Indochino coat arrived last week and was really, really close, providing a better fit than any sport coat off the rack that I've ever tried. There was about a 1/2" of extra fabric in the front toward the top which they're taking in, and I asked them to shorten the length 1/2" too. They updated my measurements to my profile so future coats should fit better. I know you had your tailor alter your pant length - wasn't Indochino willing to do that for you? Also, do you have any opinions in general about origin of fabrics? I understand they use Chinese fabrics vs. O Wick's British or Italian. Do you think Chinese fabrics are inferior, or less durable? Sorry if that's a loaded question! Thanks, Brian.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm sure the brand would have done it for me, but since I'd already had them remake the pants once and I didn't have time to go through that process a third time before I was required to create content for them, I went with the option I knew would be perfect--my personal tailor.
Never a bad review from you. I’m 17 looking for my first good mtm suit indochino attracted me at first because for under 500$ they offered a quality mtm. But now I’m looking at other options.
I had a similar experience with them when i bought my suit. The jacket fits me perfectly, but the pants they could never get right. Even though i emphasized that I want the pants to fit in a certain way. I was just ignored.
Interesting. And thanks for chiming in. With the help of my tailor, I would say that the pants fit great. However, the jacket needs some help, particularly in the pitch of the sleeve, the way the back lays, and the armholes being too low, which gives it a boxy look.
@@hespokestyle I agree with you what you said about the armholes being too low. The pitch of the sleeve is something that I wasn't aware of until now. I looked at it again and yes it needs some work. However, the jacket lays on the back perfectly. The jacket that I've gotten was Single-breasted not double. I am from the middle east and don't wear suits where I come from. I just wanted to get one for fun so I don't know a lot about suits :)
Thanks for the video. Got my first custom suit ever the other day from them. I must say my fitting was a great experience. I did not have an appointment. I was just walking around the mall and they accommodated me. The jacket fit was great for me. I just had to take it out a bit. However I did the measurements a year before purchasing a suit so I had put on some weight. I got a blue suit for $300. It was on sale.Mines were shipped in two weeks also It is not perfect , my pant leg could have also been a bit slimmer. However being oddly shaped it was a great feeling to a get a suit that truly compliments me. I would purchase again. I totally agree with what you said about the box situation. I love your view as a more seasoned suit buyer
@@hespokestyle what is your oponion on brands like proper cloth for shirts and suits. I am considering buying a donegal wool shirt and blazer from them; as it is my favorite material . Also what about the tie bar. I love the way their shirts fit and also their tie options. I definetly buy from them and try to mimic your looks. Would you ever consider making a video on alternatives to your looks. I love your content but cannot afford what you wear.
I’ve seen my share of utube videos re men’s styling, and I have found them to be both useless, and sad. However these videos form He Spoke Style are spot on, I mean GREAT stuff and super accurate. I have been studying fashion for over forty years. Finally someone who knows what they are talking about. How REFRESHING! I never comment to video offerings in this way, but I am so impressed that I wanted to let it be known. Please keep up the GREAT, INSPIRING work.
Honestly i just realized why I've literally moved away from the 2 or 3 mainstream youtubers because of the honesty and transparency here, their videos are clearly paid for. But WOW I literally had the same problem, the guy measuring me did not listen to me at all, my jacket length was too long and the pants did not have the taper and length I wanted. And I 100% definitely told him at least 3 times to make the leg opening smaller. Unfortunately I bought the suit for my friends wedding and didn't have time for alterations :( so now worn and I will have to pay for the alterations on my own, which is fine but I definitely mentioned the leg opening to the guy at Indochino because I knew I wouldn't have time for alterations.
Well said Sir!! Wish everyone was this honest.Have been watching ur videos for a Longtime and i am not surprise with ur thoughts. You r a great man.Respect!
I own 3 Indochino suits (Black, Navy, and Grey), every suit, within 3 months of rotated wear (once or twice a week), wore out in the right elbow. I am a law student, so I sit at a desk every day for most of the day. All the suits were perfectly tailored and looked great. After about a month, I would see a spot on the right elbow that was the fabric wearing out. Fast forward two more moths and a hole formed. I will not be buying another.
Appreciate the honesty. I personally don't have anything from Indochino so can't share my 2 cents. 1+ for a review on Spier & Mackay suits. I have several items from them and very happy with the quality and fit, no suits though. Still reluctant to order a full suit online.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on Jos A Bank. I was never into menswear before I started working there and now, mostly thanks to channels like you, Gentleman’s Gazette, and RMRS, I dress well and I think I do my customers a good service. That being said, I’d love to see what you think of the brand, since knowing what you like I could highlight and what you dislike I, as a customer of the brand myself, could benefit from knowing.
Terry Cullen A 1905, probably not. He might like the Reserve line though. Judging from this video I’d say 1905 is at least as good as Indo Chino, probably better.
Pizza Pizza I’ve enjoyed all of my shirts from there- although I haven’t bought any Brooks Brothers or any other brands. It’s also true that I may have a skewed view since all my opinions of quality for price are from someone who gets a fairly generous employee discount (I.e. less than what the average person pays on the average day, though the best sales are still better).
Thank you so much for putting the view about this company cuz I was skeptical about them as well and they really did a horrible job to be a custom suit maker
Your honesty makes you have lots of credibility in my eyes. Glad there's still creators with dignity out there.
Cheers Brian!
Appreciate that very much. Thanks for the support.
love how transparent you are. Big difference to a lot of other youtubers!
Transparency = credibility. That’s the coin of the realm.
Teaching mens fashion sucks on that part
Awesome to hear. Thanks so much for your support.
The fabric samples and lay out
Pic stitching
Wide lapels
Working sleeve button wholes
Dak waistband if requested
Slanted pockets
Ticket pockets
Creative control over the lining, the buttons
For the money .... one cannot beat the Indochino program .... it’s not perfect but boy oh boy it is really good.
I bought 5 suits 3 standard and two luxury fabrics ..... I like the standard better for some reason .... I will go back and get a few more for fun!
Good luck ... have fun!
They gave me a 7-8 week waiting period for completion. In retrospect I’m glad it wouldn't arrive on time before my wedding. Great and honest review.
Brian that’s why we love your channel. Honest and professional. Some other style channels try to shove their brands down your throat as the greatest things in the universe, makes them look like young boys and not grown man. You’re the best bro . Great video 👍
Appreciate that support, Emilio. I'm glad that comes through.
I'm so glad you were fair and honest. The guys over at Gents Lounge swear by Indochino and after watching their reviews one would think that Indochino is the holy grail of made to measure
You're welcome, Kenneth. Appreciate your comment very much.
Love the transparency. Solid content as always, keep it up Brian!
Thanks, Jakob. Appreciate that.
Thanks so much for chiming in, Michael. Appreciate you sharing that.
I have been considering buying a suit from them, thanks for the info. Although your overall experience wasn't great, I think that suit is damn sharp.
Yeah, it’s not bad, as I say! I personally did not have the greatest experience and I have some qualms with the quality-especially being a fused garment-but could be a decent option.
@@hespokestyle how is it half canvass and fused? Doesn't half canvass mean it's not fused in the chest area?
Appreciate the honest review. Show room experience means nothing to me, glad the suit looks good for the price. I'll take a slightly sub par show room experience if it saves me money.
I appreciate the transparency right upfront. I enjoy your videos because your input is guided by your integrity. Please do not lose this as this is the foundation upon which we As watchers TRUST you.
I’m keenly aware of that. And you have nothing to worry about. Thanks for the support.
I had a similar experience. I ordered trousers several years ago, just to give the brand a try. I'll just say, it was my first & last purchase. Great review. The honesty is appreciated.
You got it. Thanks so much for chiming in.
The jacket needs some help, particularly in the pitch of the sleeve, the way the back lays, and the armholes being too low, which gives it a boxy look.
made to measure and custom isn’t the same though
Very helpful and credible advice! I too purchased my first Indochino suit - DB herringbone in light brown - from a showroom. The fit was almost perfect; the pants required minor alterations. The lining wasn’t the same fabric I had originally selected. Where I was disappointed was in the limited customization and the lack of knowledge regarding the fabric sourcing. Since then I have opted for Suitreview which sources from SuitSupply. At this stage it’s all about quality.
Thanks for chiming in, Adam. I agree that Suitsupply is a step up in quality as well.
Refreshingly honest and balanced. This is why we keep coming back to you for style advice. Keep it coming, Brian!
Wilco!
Indochino has worked great for me. For an average consumer at a financial level, indochino is one of the better ways of attaining a suit. I usually have to have my indochino suits altered, but again, for an average consumer, indochino is the way to go in terms of affordability. I still agree with your entire critique though!
Great perspective, Bryan. Appreciate the comment and support.
Thank you for being so honest in your review! It's refreshing to see someone talk about a product in a real way.
You're very welcome. The only way to be. Thanks for the comment and support.
Love the turtleneck sweater, I picked up 3 from H&M in different colors
Must have for winter wardrobe
Indeed. This one is from Uniqlo.
Uniqlo and h&m do have some really nice staples if you shop around. It helps to build up a varied wardrobe.
And thank you for being completely transparent and honest. This is the BEST men's style channel on RUclips, bar none.
You're very welcome. Thanks so much for the support.
Brilliant review! I really appreciate your honest reviews- you set a great example. Your opinions and observations are really credible and the transparency is amazing!
Thanks for being so transparent. One of the few creators I still trust
Awesome. So happy to hear that. And you are very welcome.
Customer service: subpar
Rushing me on measuring: same like yours (not desirable)
Suit adjustment: 3 tries
You pay for what you get. Is it affordable for most gents? I’d say yes and it does the part..BUT I’d say go for something else and save an extra $200-$400 for a better experience and flawless build. (My opinion of course)
Exactly. I think you're spot on. Thanks for chiming in.
EscobarStyle Thanks for the input bro. Currently researching for purchasing one good suit. Any other suggestions?
Thank you! Finally someone with a similar experience to me reviews this company. For me it was the jacket that was off, but where the company fell flat was dealing with it. The process of three re makes leading to eventually asking for my money back took over a year to go through.
Oh, man. So sorry to hear that, Morgan. It's a shame that the customer service experience wasn't great for you.
Honestly, I was expecting a new segment about how to make a face mask look stylish or how to accessorize a hazmat suit.
Ha. Won't see that on this channel!
You can bet fashion designers will be inspired by this soon...
@@hespokestyle boy oh boy this aged like milk!!
You now DO have a video about stylish face masks :))
I have zero doubts in your integrity. I was skeptical about whether the company would pay special attention to your order given that it was a partnership so they obviously wanted to put their best effort into it. It says a lot about their products that they could not deliver a satisfactory result even with a partnership. Appreciate the video as always.
And I appreciate the comment, as always!
Many thanks for the support.
How the suit quality years later ? Think it’ll last ? Is it still looking good ?
As always, you are incredibly transparent and it's very refreshing. A lot of other channels are always trying to sell you something. Not you. "Just the facts mam, just the facts"
Glad you guys appreciate that. Thanks so much for the comment and support, Trey.
@@hespokestyle no thank you! I was just watching your pini parma review. Definitely the next suit I try
It's nice to get a honest review on products. It's so many influencers that embellish this brand. Thanks again Keep up the great work
You're welcome, Johnra. And wilco!
How’s it holding up ?
@@ethan7062 So far, so good. Although I've only worn it 3 or 4 times as I don't wear suits every day....usually weddings or other events and I have a few other suits in the rotation. But it looks good, seems to wear well.
It's channels like this that educate and convince us to spend our money in a more wisely fashion. We learn to appreciate the quality and effort from stand alone/ single-store bespoke tailors; thus we'd rather end up visiting them. Thanks for the info!
You're very welcome. And thanks for the support!
Can you review Spier and McKay suits? Sartorial talks has said some positive things about them.
Many of you all are requesting this!
YES
If you can find a good OTR fit, it's a steal at the price for quality. Yes, no handwork on 99% ( although they did have a $600 suit in two colors with full canvassing and Milanese buttonhole, etc). So, yeah, I enjoy!
I've heard really good things about Spier and Mackay from @burzanblog who rocks them a lot.
Thanks for chiming in, Leonardo.
Thank you so much for your honesty! I purchased an Indochino suit based on other influencers rave "killing it" reviews and I was so disappointed. Not only did my suit fit terribly, but their customer service is nonexistent.
Sorry to hear that, Mr. Ferro. Well, know that my opinion is not influenced by dollars.
Always came for the quality reviews. Never went disappointed. Keep it up, man.
Also, just one suggestion. The video-subtitle sync is a bit off after 1:10. Just a friendly suggestion that may help you improve the video.
Wilco!
Will check into it.
Thanks for chiming in with your experience, Bradley.
Negs:
1. no hand stitching as far as I know. because of that the lapel roll is not going to be the best, and the suit doesn't move all that well with you.
Positives:
Very nice review. Graduated from Spier and torn between Indo and Suitsupply.
Really appreciate that. I would encourage you to consider our MTM service: hespokestyle.com/shop/
Superior quality.
So happy to hear that! Thanks and welcome!
Great video, we finally have an honest RUclipsr who doesn’t compromise for money. I ordered a suit from indochino and when it came in the pants were ripped and the suit was extremely wrinkled. I did send the pants back and they sent me a new pair but this was very annoying.
Yikes! How was the customer service through that?
He Spoke Style the customer service was great, but it still sucked that the pants were ripped down the whole seam in the first place.
Thanks for your honesty. I would have tried Indochino if they were near my location but they weren't. I would never buy a suit online, always go somewhere where they measure you.
You're very welcome. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience, Marcus.
You're very welcome. Thanks so much for sharing your experience.
He Spoke Style any other reputable online or in-store MTM programs besides Suit Supply or Men’s Wearhouse?
This is an amazing review of Indochino. I have had experience with them and they did get various of my measurements wrong. The fabrics are pretty nice, but the measurements were off.
Thanks for chiming in, Rodrigo!
Based on my previous Suitsupply video, it seems that the European experience is much better than the US one.
It was nice to have all your honesty comments and an independent review.
Hey Brian. Thanks for the super honest review. My brothers and I went into an Indochino showroom to get measured for his wedding and the sales person told us they’d need a 4 month turnaround time. Definitely not impressed but now after watching your review, I don’t think we missed out on much.
Wow! Four months?!
Appreciate the comment and support, Allen! Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thanks so much, Marco. Appreciate the comment and support. All it took was having the pants the right length and tapered to my liking.
@He Spoke Style you gained my respect within the first minute because of your honesty, transparency, and candor.
Thanks for chiming in, Lawrence!
Finally a honest, down to earth style influencer with no cheesy chokes, terrible partnerships and good style.
Remember cost per wear.
I have an appointment with Indochino in a week. Glad I watched this and took notes! Thanks!
Woohoo full transparency with a review that actually saves us time. Thanks! Can't wait for the Spier and McKay review.
You got it!
I'll always take a comparison to William Powell! Thanks so much for the support
Benjamin Emmarson *concur
We can conquer together too!
Thanks for sharing that, Benjamin. Appreciate you lending your perspective.
ive heard about the weak side tabs, im glad i went with belt loops on my suit from them... hopefully those dont break.
Him disclosing how he had bias was very good. Subscribed right then and there!
He Spoke Style love your channel!
How are you suits holding up through the years ? Would you buy another
Thanks for your honesty, I also wasn't blown away by their suits.
You're very welcome. Thanks for chiming in, Felix.
Would love a Spier & Mackay Review? Also what brand do you recommend for MTM?
Getting a quorum here for a Spier & Mackay review!
@@hespokestyle If you could review their shoes, too, that'd be much appreciated.
@@hespokestyle please do one
Sorry to hear that, Heath. We went to the same showroom.
Update*
Just received the new suit yesterday.
Great to hear, John. I'm glad folks are chiming in with positive experiences as well.
He Spoke Style I mean, it’s a MTM suit for ≈$400. Sure, you can spend a bit more for higher quality at say, Suit Supply...but for the price and convenience, Indochino is a not a bad option at all
I would also like to point out that they will reimburse you up to $75 for any tailoring you need to have done if the fit is not just right.
MODERATOR!
Love your modesty and thoughtfulness on preproduction to give balanced opinions.
Indochino as a brand has always been wobbly like many others.
Thanks so much, Terence. Appreciate the comment and support.
In what way do you think"?
@@hespokestyle Like many other online MTM companies who focus on consumers new to menswear they often focus on marketing and trend-chasing as proofing. They also get away with less than ideal production standards as newbies 1) don't know what to look for and 2) may not have the experience or developed the personal taste to know a) their style b) what suits them.
Menswear is so much more in the detail and nuanced!
An honest (not malevolent ) review, thank you. Great turtleneck btw! ~ Cheers!
Thanks for the support. Means a lot.
Sacawa
Yikes! Thanks for sharing your experience, Jairus. And you're very welcome.
I love this channel very much, your reviews are always on point..
Many thanks!
Davi Santos agreed!
Thanks for the comment, Davi. I'd say stay tuned for the outfit videos!
Cheers.
I recommend you take a look at One Dapper Street. The guy dresses how I'd imagine Brian's son hahaha.
You're so right. Great point. And thanks! I'll pass on your sentiments.
@@hespokestyle Got it. Thanks again, Brian!
Never a bad review from you. I’m 17 looking for my first good mtm suit indochino attracted me at first because for under 500$ they offered a quality mtm. But now I’m looking at other options.
Cheers. Where else are you looking?
He Spoke Style articles of style and my local brooks brothers has a made to measure service . I’d love to hear if you have any suggestions.
props to you for being a honest and straightforward, keep up the great work!
Thanks, will do!
Your honesty regarding sponsor status of videos on this channel with pay dividends. Thank you!
It's the only way to be! Thanks for the comment!
That’s great to hear, Antonio. Appreciate you chiming in with your experience.

Like the honest review, not like others only compliment product when they get paid to say something good
Thanks, TJ. Appreciate the comment and support.
Thanks so much for the support, Farhan. Means a lot. And thanks for chiming in with your experience. Sorry to hear it wasn't stellar.
Brian, you will always have my support. Now just waiting for the HSS & Michael Andrews Collaboration!
I love the honesty! 👏🏽
I’m still on the fence about IndoChino but I’m def leaning towards “No, thank you.”
Well said Sir!! Wish everyone was this honest.Have been watching ur videos for a Longtime and i am not surprise with ur thoughts. You r a great man.Respect!
Appreciate the comment and support.
Love the transparancy, love all the details, love the video. Wow good job, clean, crisp and honest
Indochino was great. My salesperson measured well and I had a slight shoulder roll in the back and that was all. Great experience for the price.
Your Honesty and transparency earned a new subscriber.
I imagine he would never wear it.
Terry Cullen
A 1905, probably not.
He might like the Reserve line though.
Judging from this video I’d say 1905 is at least as good as Indo Chino, probably better.
I personally have no experience with them!
No experience with Jos. A Bank.
Thanks for chiming in, LJ.
