Rufford Park Poachers - folk song 🎶💙

  • Contrary to the photos I took of the beautiful old ruins of Rufford abbey in Nottinghamshire, this story did not unfold directly at this location. 'Twas but a few miles south near the village of Bilsthorpe, where the wild gorse 💛✨ still grows, that it occured late one night back in 1850. Some "40 gallant poachers" walked from Mansfield to Rufford Park and the gamekeepers "came with flails against the poachers and their cause"
    This is also very close to Edwinstowe where Robin Hood is meant to have married Marion and where they dwellt in the greenwood 🌳🌳🌳
