That's good! Keep up the good work! I am currently studying euphonium with someone who was in the marine band. If you want, I could give you their contact information.
That’s awesome. I assume you mean the President’s Own, but if you have questions about the 10 field Marine bands, I’m a clarinet player and have been a Marine musician for 5 years now
How do you make an alto clarinet sound musical? This is how. Jihoon Chang was the player and you will never hear it done better....unless it's played by the current alto clarinetist, Shannon Kiewett.
I'm not sure if you're joking. The double reed nearest the conductor and audience is an English Horn (Cor Anglais), and not an Oboe. It has a "bell". The gentleman next to her is playing an Oboe, which has no "bell".
Alan Stephens I think that’s what he’s asking... the second oboist appears to have taken off the bell off his instrument for some reason, maybe acoustical
Alan Stephens and by the way, both English horns and oboes have bells-the English horn’s is just onion shaped and the oboe’s is bell shaped, hence the name “bell”...
I am a professional oboe player and am currently playing this piece. There is nothing in the second part that calls for the removal of the bell. My best guess is that he had either a stuck key or binding and this was a quick fix
This is version B, because version A starts with piccolo and Bb clarinet, accompanied by Eb clarinet and bass clarinet, and start on a concert C and play in an F scale.
Jesus guys... I know it's America's notoriously finest band, but can't a guy give his opinion on musical interpretation. I personally agree with him and I favor the recording of this done by Eastman. I like the more up-tempo strong version.
Way to make it look easy! I've never seen so many meter changes in my life! Sheesh!
The President’s Own is one of the finest wind bands in the world
I love the solo Grainer wrote for the soprano in this piece
A buck or doe, believe it so, a pheasant or a hare. Was put on Earth quite equally for every man to share.
Studying for the clarinet! I want to be in the marine band :)

How come the second oboist took off the bell at around 2:46 ?

cdirth are there low Bbs in the 2nd part? I’m playing the first part right now too but maybe he did it so he wouldn’t overpower the principal
Where is their Alto Clarinetist at?
Behind the First Oboist (Solo Oboist). And next too the Bass Clarinetist
1:48
Did they play version A or B here?
I’m pretty sure this is version A (because of the Soprano Sax)
This is version B, because version A starts with piccolo and Bb clarinet, accompanied by Eb clarinet and bass clarinet, and start on a concert C and play in an F scale.
@@deniscarranza4143 that’s what I thought, version b starts with the Piccolo/Alto Clarinet
@@deniscarranza4143 thank you for your reply!
Version B, because in the beginning there is the quartet with pic, bass clarinet, oboe and bassoon. I am playing this song in band on bassoon
A bit too smooth and light-bodied.
Tom Gossard just how Grainger wrote it.
Tom Gossard Wow, look at you, trying to give advice to The President's Own.

Even among the very best, there are many variations in interpretations. That said, I also prefer the Eastman "Live in Osaka" version.
