One of my favourites
Actually based on a poem/speech by an MP I think, many years ago.
I do not like to think of myself as "low" at all. Song of the Lower Classes is also called or Song of the Other Ranks/Song of the Low. Some people like to glorify being a commoner and show how working class they are. Especially funny when some (quite obviously 'middle-class') folk singers put on a common accent to sing with. Why not just be yourself?

For me, a special part of folk music, is the fact that theres different versions depending on where you learned it I learned of this song via some lyrical online website when looking at some other lyrics, comparing them to the version i know Found this song there But as i didnt know the tune, i had to search it up And i guess the version of the song im singing is the one you sang The list of which versions of folk songs, tell a story of who we are Although with the internet, it may no longer be about where we traveled, It is still very personal thing, and it connects to memories And when you come across someone who knows a different version, even if its just 1 word difference, its a conversation starter of talking about where we learned our unique version It turns a personal thing, into a communal sharing thing And being both a personal, and sharing attribute, sums up what folk is so much And thats why i love it (Although i will refrain from learning multiple songs at the same time, because i dont just want 1 memory, i want many stories to tell)
