Wore them riding quads, wore them wading through creak, wore them through mud, wore them operating heavy equipment. One day the shank popped through the insole so I stopped wearing them. They were like 100 dollars in the early/mid 90s ($235 today) and made in the USA. I had the heals and sole savers replaced multiple times. Some day I'll get them repaired but the quality of boots today for that price don't compare.

Also I own two pairs of Chisos No2s, one is for dress up only and the other one I used for light medium work but I wore through the outsoles in 6 months and had to get them resolved, so I'd recommend Chisos for the casual use to light duty use only.
Please review Anderson Bean/Rios of Mercedes. Both American made with Rios being slightly higher end. The Beans might not have the best overall materials, but they are the most comfortable I’ve ever owned. If you really want to make things interesting get a pair of Becks. They are supposed ti be the real deal endorsed by working cowboys. They still use a 40 penny nail for a shank!

I just bought my first pair of cowboy boots a week ago and I’m excited you’re revisiting different brands! Went with Justin’s for work but I’m super curious about my next purchase, wanting to go for a higher quality pair.
I use chisos to actually ride horses and they're probably the toughest leather soled boot I've worn and are great to ride in because of how stiff and thick the leather on the bottom but the heel is super high. I'm used to roper heels for walking around. And they look great but I like the hand dyed leather look But that heel is rough.
Those boots actually look better than almost any other shoe I've seen you wear actually. I'm not a boot guy either. But I did grow up in Tony Lama country. These are good looking boots.

I love Chisos. Only other boot I can think of that is on par before getting into custom boots is JW Boot Company signature line (which I would love to see cut open) you might also be interested in their hiking boots and other footwear that is made traditionally
I generally use either Ariat or Chisos insoles in my Tecovas or Cuadra boots. Those are available separately. I have a narrow foot so I get the same length and bring my foot up to compensate for the wider width of these off the shelf boots (they’re D and I’d need a B or a C). It’s a lot cheaper than buying a Chisos boot just for the comfort (plus Chisos don’t do zip boots and only do ostrich as an exotic skin). I don’t do ranch work in my boots so I gravitate towards exotic skins.

I own several pairs of Mexican-made boots. I haven't cut any of them in half, but the Chisos are far more comfortable than any of the others, and because of this I wear them more often.
Mexican boots tend to have a different look, too, just stylistically. They are often “cockroach killers” with very pointy toes. Just personal stylistic preference there.
@@jennypaxton8159thats really not true anymore. In case you haven't noticed the square toe has become more popular than pointy in Mexico and among people in general
I have a pair of chisos and they fit weird. They feel tight across my foot which is part of the break in which a lot of pain, but they also fit a little loose. I can slip them on and off without a problem, probably fling them off if I tried hard enough. So I can’t go up in size to fix the or the other problem because more apparent and vice versa. They’re not bad but could fix the size issue
Red Wing/Pecos 1155 has been my favorite every day for ages. Tried Justin Ropers and they were pure garbage. Ariats have been just OK. Currently trying Tecovas, and have been pleasantly surprised. Chisos will be my next purchase.
Please consider cutting open a pair of Capitan boots. I have been wearing cowboy boots for almost 40 years and have never encountered a store bought boot any better made than these and they are half the price as the Chisos and a quarter of the price when they are on sale. Of course the best cowboy boots are custom made but that's comparing apples and oranges I suppose. I’m on my feet pretty much all day every day and I’ve never owned a more comfortable pair of shoes or boots than the Double H. Before I get attacked I understand global parts, blah blah blah but at the end of the day I’m supporting US manufacturing. Just my $.02
Love to see a Rujo's review. I have the marcus in gret and love the look. I'm suffering a half size small just because i like them so much
Love your channel. Can you please evaluate a Soto boot?
Love to see what is inside my Rios of Mercedes. They are on my feet almost every day. I just don’t want you to cut mine in half. 😅
I suggest cutting open a boot from Joe Boots bro. Specifically the python imitation boot they have because that's the one I wear 😉
Would love to see your review of Rios of Mercedes!
You should check out Alberta Boot Co. , hand made in Calgary Canada since 1978 .
Are Tony Lamas any good ???
You should throw in some Packer boots in the series. Like a nicks or whites packer and maybe the history of packer boots.
The most comfortable boots I've worn are the Dan Post Alamosa. I own 3 different colored pairs in ostrich leather.
You should review CUADRA Boots. They feel awesome on the feet.
This one hurt to watch. I've wanted these boots for a couple years now haha. Wish me luck on the lottery.
Stetson cowboy hat and some Chisos No.2 now you styling.
Please do the Red Wing Pecos!
Would you please cut and inspect some Dan Post boots? Specifically the Pike, Pugh or the Winston. Thanks for the great content, always entertaining and educational to watch.
Rujo, Capitan, Cuero, JK Western, R Watson.
I would like to see a new pair of Hyer boots tested out.
Do some Hondos boots
I don't see much of an advantage over generic Hecho en Mexico boots for 1/4 the price, but then I don't mind leather soles so idk
I'd be interested in a Rujo cut, very similar to Tecovas, but (according to their customer service), they don't have composites in the toe or counter.
I have two pair of Chisos and I’m sure there will be a third.
Thank you!!
Side bar - who makes the best leather chair. High quality?
Please consider cutting open a pair of Capitan boots. I have been wearing cowboy boots for almost 40 years and have never encountered a store bought boot any better made than these and they are half the price as the Chisos and a quarter of the price when they are on sale. Of course the best cowboy boots are custom made but that's comparing apples and oranges I suppose. I miss the days 70s -90s when Tony Llama, Nocona, Dan Post still made great all leather hard wearing boots.
Is it is the toe box pretty wide on the square toes like my toes are spread out I'm not a big pinch Point cowboy boot guy
Have you considered Double H Western boots? They're also MITUSA- could be 1 video for 2 series...
I wish you guys would make a 2 in ranger belt
Rios of Mercedes are the best western boots hands down
Tecovas hit that sweet spot of price and quality. But I do want to try some chisos really badly
