Painting Furniture WITHOUT Sanding or Priming? | Bayberry Green Dresser Makeover

- In this video, I am painting furniture without sanding or priming, but only on the body, while the top I sand and prime. The top was in too rough of a condition so I decided it needed some proper care. I show the process of using a spray gun with Fusion Mineral Paint in Bayberry, which is super nice green paint, and we see if things can go well with no sanding or priming.

Thank you!!
This is beautiful. I would strongly suggest some additional touches such as guilding wax, edge the detail in a lighter color etc. Love everything you do!
That would be a great idea! thanks!!
It came out great you make using a sprayer look so easy , how is clean up and is it hard to figure out the right way to spray ? I never have used one before just a brush
Hermoso trabajo!!! Esa pintura es como metalizada? Como la consigo en Argentina?
nice color
Glad you liked it!
Beautiful, no sanding or priming makes me nervous guess old habits die hard but have to admit the finish looks flawless.
I usually always sand and prime, but after this, I was pretty impressed by how strong the fusion grabbed onto the surface. Impressed!
It turned out very nice. I have a similar one. Can you tell me for how much you sold or are pricing it ?
I think the original color is always best but this look nice
When you impressed....I'm impressed 👌.
🙂
So beautiful! I'm having Poly issues. Just bought the home right sprayer and I'm curious, do you Sand in between coats when you are spraying the Poly?
I usually don't sand between coats of poly because I find it may scuff the surface too much. I spray 3-5 coats and it's smooth and durable.
Another beautiful job. What do you do with the paint sitting in the sprayer between coat? Do you store it in fridge?
If its a few hours I stick a piece of tape on the nozzle and let it sit anywhere in my garage. If it's overnight, I empty the paint and clean the sprayer. And thanks so much!
Awesome! If you don’t mind me asking. What type of paint sprayer is that and how well do you like it ? Ty!
It is the Wagner Flexio 590! I like this sprayer - I have a full video on this one comparing it to my other sprayer the HomeRight Super Finish Max. Check it out on my channel if you are interested. Sprayers are really fun once you get used to them! Thanks for watching
Beautiful transformation! I have the same spraygun as you, what were your spray settings? Thanks
He answered in a comment above
Beautiful!! Can you tell me what settings you have your spray gun on? I have the same gun, but have not yet figured out what works best... TIA!
I have a full video on this sprayer and the homeright, I use power 7 and lowest amount of paint with the Wagner. The new sprayer may be different, I purchased mine over a year ago and more
Very 👌 nice
thanks Jose!!
Question for you. You made the comment about how well you liked the Fusion Mineral Paint on how smooth it went on. Would you recommend that brand of paint over the Behr paint that you use quite a bit in other videos? Thanks.
I 100% recommend fusion over behr, looks and feels so much better!
Wonderful job! The original was so ugh! I never know what to do with a dresser like that. Green is in! would you ever distress a vintage piece like that? 😊
Thank you!! and i usually don't distress pieces, but I should give it a try!
@@FurnitureFlippa idk if it’s your style.. your style is better :)
I have this same dresser an had no idea what to do with it because it is the ugly brown. Hopefully someone like you will see the potential and buy it from me.
Respekt!!!!
Thanks!
💜
Love the vids man! Where’s the new stuff atttttt?? Hope all is well ❤️
I have a prject completed and video taken, just in the middle of moving so super busy! Will get the video together soon!! :)
Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included ruclips.net/user/postUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.
Beautiful job! I’m curious why you used a topcoat since Fusion Mineral Paint is 100% acrylic and does not require a topcoat.
I prefer to coat all paint, then the poly will scratch before the paint . Things are just more durable!
@@FurnitureFlippa Makes sense! I was just curious. I’ve been wanting to try Fusion because I’m lazy and would love to skip priming and sealing. Lol I just paint furniture for myself, family and friends. Thanks!
@@FurnitureFlippa looks good now, but not convinced the unprimed part will hold up, particularly with a water based poly.
@@kccolly8459 I'm new to this.. What issues concern you? Acrylic vs water poly? Is acrylic plus oil better?
@@razetw most acrylic polys are water based. Polys with oil are far more durable. Spar poly is an oil based poly used for marine work, and ultimately the hardest finish available. If it’s a piece worth protecting, I always use spar urethane.
5:50 what's with the clenched fist?
I just wonder how long lasting each part will be. Hard to know.
It is tough unless I kept the piece and could see if there would a difference. But honestly it felt super durable, so I wouldn't be surprised if they both hold up strong with time.
You may have answered this all ready, but why did you leave the drawers in when you painted the piece?
Just a faster process, and painting the top drawer edges on this piece would have only made it scratch off almost instantly.
Very nice , no biggie but no body mentioned that that the drawers are not Solid wood but in fact RESIN. So might be better to relook at applications on plastics . (That's not my expertise) these are sometimes called Mediterranean or 70s Spanish REVIVAL . Many free on face book. And u can bring them down on price because you'll be able to point out were it's not solid when they say it is . Back edges etc . But mainly note how (even and how wide ) the faux oak grain is in the drawer front molded panels .inside in before pics u see the edge ridge on inside top drawer front area. God bless I'm on video 4 today 🙏more please
Do you not paint the top and bottom of the drawers?
Sometimes I pass if you can't see them closed. These drawers rubbed like crazy so it would only take the paint off instantly. So With the wood only visible when the drawers are open, I will just let it be instead of having chippy looking drawers.
Why does only the top need sanding
dont really like green but this is a very pretty green looks great
Can I do this without a spray gun?!
Yes definitely! I have plenty of videos where I use a brush!
Yeah but with it like that it doesn't have a chance to crit so it will come off on that you didn't sand
Still 80s style . Should have invested in updated pulls
It's 70s Mediterranean- sometimes spanish revival if more detailed
