The interaction between Clays parents was powerful. Even though his mom was hurt, she was addressing his father for Clay and to get healing for Clay. So beautiful.
Clay's mom 🏆🏆🏆
Also with Clay's mom saying what she said to her Ex but in such a dignified manner, and yet she did not humiliate or drag him. However, she still got her point across. She is a Queen.
I was there for the side plots🤣
AD unfortunately had to see Clay go from Prince Charming to Prince Alarming when the signs were there from the jump
"Prince Alarming" LOOOOOOL
Not Prince Alarming 😭
She saw all the red flags and paints her nails to match. Even she admitted she's a ''fixer hoe''. She doesn't know her self-worth. She should have charged Clay for therapy sessions.
AD said in a previous episode if he said no at the altar that would be it for them. He clearly didn't believe her.
probably wasnt listening 😞
Well they dated afterward smh
@@jacobalarcon5171he was too busy blinking lol

@@Covers-and-Commentary yep, at least til Thanksgiving. There's a video of her dancing with him and his family
"If you look loose, you cook a goose." Finally, words to live by!
This was actually so beautiful especially David’s analysis of clay and his family. I think that what clays mother did is going to be very validating and inspiring to a lot of women around the world. She stood up for herself so gracefully.
Best Analysis of Clay. I appreciate you guys giving him some grace. He is a flawed man but honest and transparent. He saved AD by not marrying her, especially at this point. I hope gets help, heals and does better.
Clay's dad seems to compete with his son n can't help but wonder if he's happy with him not getting married so he can just continue to "play the field" like he did...that way he remains n will always be Clay's "role model"..
Wow! 🤯
Exactly my read 💯
His dad pep talk was code for do you really wanna hang up your player jersey? You know you get it from your pops
@@KyraKennedyHughes
You're absolutely right!
Thanks, David, for your thoughts on the interaction between Clay's parents. Any time Clay's mother appreared in the series, my respect for her grew.
I appreciate how deep you got on that conversation between Clay’s parents. I was bawling my eyes out in that scene.
Clay's mom was so calm & peaceful when she was pointing out to Clay's dad that basically he has scarred him with his thoughts on marriage knowing what he saw growing up with his trifling cheating daddy and still hearing it years later definitely had to make her feel even more betrayed but thank goodness they are divorced.....so sad she wasted so many years with his turd azzzzz tho
Clay said all the right things when he wanted to, but to me, it felt like he was narrating, not emoting. I felt no emotion behind his words at all. 😢
Clay's mom and Amy's dad made me feel so emotional watching this episode.😢
I'm convinced the producers talked Jimmy into going back to Chelsea after he left because they literally would not have had enough content to finish the season without them.
Dennis opening of Clays toast was amazing
Not to defend Clay's Father, but he was not spouting nonsense. He was actually attempting to recite a poem...
"Thinking" or "The Man Who Thinks He Can"
by Walter D. Wintle
If you think you are beaten, you are;
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you'd like to win, but you think you can't,
It is almost a cinch you won't.
If you think you'll lose, you've lost;
For out in this world we find
Success begins with a fellow's will
It's all in the state of mind.
If you think you're outclassed, you are;
You've got to think high to rise.
You've got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win the prize.
Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster man;
But sooner or later the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can!
That poem was hung up in my house growing up. (My dad was big on positive affirmations.)
I totally agree with David, this was undeniably a high-quality viewing experience. Genuine, complex emotions and conversations that branch out to broader social issues. I think for all the problematic aspects of reality TV (of which there are MANY, as we all know from this show lol) there are moments like these where the stars align and it gives us a unique opportunity to see challenges we all share as people, in a (semi) real life example with (semi) real consequences, with just enough of the magic disney fairytale dust swept away to see part of the true human condition. Normally we get these experiences as they happen to and around us in daily life, but reality TV is a format that we can all witness together at the same time and have huge conversations about, across a wider variety of people with a wider variety of perspectives and experiences than we could have access to in our immediate vicinity. That potential for widespread, connected dialogue across generations and borders and cultures is a huge part of what makes any media-- including sports-- so compelling. And that's why I think two sports people are naturally suited to break this show down, because we're all watching the same thing together and rooting for our favorites and booing our villains, trying to make sense of it together, in a collaborative way. The content is like a vehicle for us to understand others on a deeper level
These edits make this even more fun to watch!
This episode was phenomenal and so was this review wowowow
I didnt catch the eye roll but when Clays dad was talking about his dad and the queen says "I know" i just knew shes heard this a million times over
Yeah, I didn’t see and eye roll either. It seemed more like she was tearing up but trying to catch herself… I also agree that she’s probably heard Clay’s dad give his own “Daddy” excuse a million times before…
Clay really needed more from his father in that moment when they were alone in the cabin. Not sure that really became a realization for his father until he spoke with Clay’s mother. Powerful scene. Tried to give an excuse after Clay’s mother said “no excuses”, and you could really tell in that moment that this was a grown, older man with so much unsettled with his childhood and relationship with his father. They’re going to have to have some tough conversations for Clay to get anywhere near an actual serious, consistent relationship. Heartbreaking portion of the show but so needed on so many levels.
Jimmy lives in a singles area of Charlotte and supposedly went out every night once they moved in together.
He was comfortable talking to ALL the women because he is used to doing it nightly, lol.
He had ZERO plans to marry Chelsea once he saw her in person.
Jessica is pretty clear in that Chelsea got done dirty by production.
Like Clay with AD, Jimmy saved Chelsea from herself (she needs therapy not marriage).
The wildest part was that Jimmy broke it off before the actual altar. Supposedly that costs like 50K unless you get a release.
And Mina as usual is correct. Jimmy (Clay and most of the guys) was only going to be happy if he soundly outkicked his coverage.
Clay is pretty clear that is NOT into monogamy AT ALL. Production let that happen and loved it. He was very unserious the entire season.
Amy and Johnny were sweet but felt ohhh so young. Like, fresh out of high school are we letting these babies get married?
I live in Charlotte….there is no such thing as a singles area?!
Jessica spoke about it on a podcast. I assume she means the Tech hubs that surround Uptown Charlotte as he works in software sales. I have worked for BoA before and that area is definitely full of bars and high-end apartments/condos. @@Brownshugabae
Clay Never Intended To Marry Her..He did the show for Clout..He Gave AD Every Red Flag Im Gonna Hurt You & He Did It
And that’s on AD for trying to fix a hoe.
Why entertain someone who clearly isn’t ready for marriage? He told us every damn second of the show.
46:22 Mina is for sure talking about Emanuel Acho 😂😂😂
Thank you!
I think Jimmy never was interested in her and would be distant with no cameras. Her insecurity stemmed from his words not matching his actions. He was concerned about blowback because of appearance comments. Didn't want the internet to go after him. Set her up to be the bad guy.
I think Jimmy told Chelsea the day before because he just couldn't go thru with it and he didn't want to humiliate her further by having her walk down the aisle and dropping her in front of everyone. It was merciful.
see, I thought we all agreed he wasn't into her the moment he saw she wasn't "MGK's wife," or when he compared her to the big bad wolf when challenged to conjure a single compliment, and then we all wanted to see his reaction to Jess because everyone could tell from a mile away him and Chelsea wasn't gonna work. That breakup's been due for a while, and he dragged it out so long we got to see Ken and Amber look like a lock and then break up in the time in between. And he did it in the middle of the date, okay maybe that was the producers, whatever. But he asked her if she was on board knowing full well the whole date he was gonna drop the bomb... that's deranged. Like at least she was into him on some level, totally in denial too but doesn't absolve him. He practically told us she wasn't the one as soon as he saw her face
If Clay was not ready for marriage, don’t go on the show. That’s the whole damn point!!
If they were best friends like Clay kept saying, he would have shielded her. Even if it was a pact. Like "I'm gonna say yes, AD and you say no. It'll be iconic!" If she was in on it, it wouldn't have been so bad. It may have saved her life to say no, but it was wrong not to make a plan off camera ahead of time. He knew she loved him. He should have told her.
I’m so glad I found your channel! Mina is one of the only people I listen to when I need to hear my real Dallas Cowboys news !!🤣
LIB was really good this season can’t wait until the reunion!
You guys have the best unpack of LIB, so glad I found your channel! Totally agree with all your notes on clay and fam. It made me emotional to watch, was the most real reality episode ever. Thanks for your thoughtful insights
I think as Jimmy thought more and more about his relationship with Chelsea he realized that he just couldn't go through with it. And he waited to end things on camera because he wanted it to be done with witnesses, but not at the altar. Chelsea already confuses him during their fights and twists things around.
33-40min was one of the best breakdowns I’ve heard of this franchise.
You guys killed it, thank you.
That moment with Clay’s parents will stay with me for a while.
😂😂😂hilarious review and yall wanted Jimmy to go ahead & ride the rides after he dumped Chelsea 😂😂 yall scandalous 😂😂and soooo true I agree when yall said Clay's daddy had that dr suess rhythm speech talking to clay, lol no wonder Clay is a confused man😂
He been riding, rides since they been together..all the ups and downs lol.. he should have stuck to what he said inine of the previous episodes when he said he didn't want to marry her.
Love , the review 🔥🔥🔥🔥🎉🎉🎉🎉
Love the stuff on AD dad advise , so funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
RUclips autoplay brought me here. This was a great review!!!
Clay's mom told his dad he should apologize to Clay, not her. She said things came up she didn’t know but amazingly, her focus was on her son, not on her feelings.
THE ITYSL JIMMY ON THE ZIP LINE MADE ME LAUGH SO HARD
Every time Jimmy was on, the voice from the arcade game Sinistar was in my head saying, RUN RUN RUN.
Jimmy is the King of double speak. He says all kinds of things that don’t align with his actions. To quote Tate’s Take, “the only person he’s gaslighting is himself”😄. He doesn’t make any sense. I don’t even think Chelsea truly likes him- she just wanted to “win” against “a Jessica”. They are mess and it’s a good thing they didn’t go through with it.
3:06 not the zip line edit 😂😂😂
LMAO
He was already talking abt AD in past tense to his dad. It was obvious he knew he was gonna say no
Yep I caught that too
Are you guys willing to do a Q&A episode after the reunion show?
Specifically with the Jimmy/Chelsea thing I wondered if there is some kind of incentive the show gives the couples to actually get to the wedding and make the true decision of "I do" at the altar.
It was clear Jimmy was ready to break it off after their big fight, but I think the pressure of exposing his family and girlfriends to more embarrassment he would rather just say no before walking down the aisle.
I'd be really curious what other people think about this.
Here's the thing, the couples have shared they "knew" or had conversations (off camera) of what they would say on decision day or at the altar and this time Jimmy had the conversation with Chelsea on camera on what his decision would be. However, I guess, because they did that (on camera) they did not have a wedding or "at the altar" decision. It makes sense that couples do have the conversation BEFORE the wedding, so no one is blindsided. In that regard, Jimmy did the right thing. And I am not a Jimmy fan but everything he said actually made sense.
Where does David work/ does he have a pod? I liked him on these videos.
Andscape! Follow him on twitter @DavidDTSS
Good looks. Did not expect to open YT with a notification from Mina though.@@minakimes
I totally agree with David Dennis, AD was adorable and funny... she seemed far more fun and interesting than everyone else (which is likely why she got so much camera time lol) Was sad for her, but Clay did the right thing.
I'm from North Carolina and......YES!!!!! You are so right about Carowinds & Nascar!!!!! 🤩🤩🤩
So with Forest Gump and Megan Fox, she said something to the effect of "yesterday was a bad day for me, but today I feel so confident in us", meaning there may have been an additional fight the day before. And she seems to downplay all the fights like small hiccups...like miss ma'am, this is fight # 17 and that shit adds up. She's 100% in the wrong and he did her a favour by breaking up before the alter.
He definitely led her on from jump cuz he hasn't liked her from day one, but she is insufferable and idk how anyone could like her during her time on the show. Hope she gets the help she needs
I binged every episode of you two. This is the duo I didn't know I needed. Please do more reviews together!!! Also, Clay and AD were so heavy I needed a break. I fast forwarded through the other couple at the end 😂. I feel like they should have reversed the episode and gave us happy times first.
In answer to your question, Clay ABSOLUTELY knew he wasn't going to marry her. He also was not in love with AD. I am not saying he is a horrible person. He simply did not feel for her what he wants her to believe.
100% and his mother's body language told me she knew he wasn't going to marry her. Clay's mother sees good in AD and may even know she would be good for Clay but Clay has to know AD is the woman for him.
this is by far the best video. You all have seen with your own eyes, how our culture operates. Black women are appreciated for accepting the role as a doormat and a servant. This show highlighted the dysfunction in the black community. It is more EXACTLY as you've seen than not.
Clay wasn’t going to marry AD because of her financial situation. He alluded to that. If AD was abundantly wealthy, Clay would have married her.
Don’t forget the clearly A phi A pen on the lapel of the Dad. 🙄
The injury report 😭😭
Loved the episode! I’ve heard y’all mention a couple of times that it’s a live reunion? But I haven’t seen that anywhere else? (Also some rumors have reported sightings of some of the cast flying into LA. And the production crew does the whole thing of flying 2 people who have nothing to do with each other just to throw fans off the scent. But idk?) Just hadn’t heard it?
Yall need to do another show to continue these videos, i dont want it to end
OMG...Cookout!!!! Sorry, I just had to show some love for Cookout!!! 🔥🔥🔥We need one out here in the Rocky Mountains.
Clays mom had the best quotes of the season and maybe the franchise.
“Explain and apologize no excuses just apologize”
Dad “I meet you and he’ll meet someone like his mom”
Mom “Yeah but you meet me but you wasn’t good to me”.
Mic Drop 🎤
The intro has me cracking up lol. I was right there with it. It didn’t go above me or under me.
The mother was not at all concerned about working through her feelings or standing up for herself...she is faaaar beyond that...her ONLY concern was her the future happiness if her son and actually AD as well
I was rocking with David until him hyping up Scarowinds. Worst event ever. Loved the pod. You two killed it. Now do more shows :D.
I feel like marriages where it's clear that the guy outkicked the coverage are more likely to be successful. I don't have the stats but anecdotally, there is a trend.
19:45 😂😂😂 someone.. please… pick me off the floor lmao 🤣🤣🤣
I truly appreciate the nuance of this conversation regarding Clay and AD. I'm not sure how the internet will react and I'm not going to check lol but Clay made a decision that he was weighing the entire season.
For all his immaturity, I think he was the most genuine this season. He was very open with ADHD about all his doubts, his past, and even saying all the things that don't play well on this show (like admitting how much he needed to be physically attracted to his wife).
I think Mina was talking about Stephen A 😂
After a few bad seasons, this season ended being one of the most dramatic/emotional/fun!!
Subscribed because of Wowee Zowee in the background
Obviously I know you from ESPN and covering sports but to see you covering and reacting to something other than sports is a welcome change not that you don’t do a good job covering sports but most sports journalists don’t venture out and react to tv shows or series outside of sports so to see you do it is a nice switch, do you react to other shows also?
Regarding Clays and AD…. The father’s presence was the reason for Clay saying no….I felt for Clay and for his mother…it was very pay to watch…. AD dodged a bullet…Clay needs healing and therapy.
Clay's parents explain his way of talking which is non-stop word salad continuous train of thought strings of words that don't really fit, are completely empty, and waiting for someone to just please interrupt him.
Also, Clay is not young. He acts like a 23 year old, but he's 30.
Clay made the right decision, but should've never been on the show. You should be ready on all fronts for commitment to be part of the process and from the jump he was not.
You know those people (I've been one of them) who makes plans with every intention of falling through in that moment but then regrets it by the next day. You know you have no intention of following through, but you don't break them in hopes you may find the desire to go out....but you end up fighting with yourself before finding a shifty excuse and canceling... that's Clay.
I feel like you guys couldn’t be more wrong when it comes to Clay. Maybe it takes one to know one, but as a former f*ckboy….Clay SCREAMS f*ckboy!!
No one's saying he's a saint, but you gotta admit he is self aware (many of the other people are not) and the decision he made will ultimately spare both of them. Real test will be if he actually goes to therapy and walks the walk
So, can I point out (if someone else hasn't already) that BOTH Clay and Jimmy said, "I can work with that." about their partners. Clay was just tacky about when and where he said it. Jimmy said it duing his confessional time behind Chelsea's back. 😂
Maybe You have to be kid of caribbean ancestry but what Clayton's dad is giving is like affirmations like sayings that you learn growing up meant to give direction. Like a bunch of sayings: you learn growing up
Clays mom is so classy, so is AD. Both Clay and his dad got reality checks that you only get one shot with a good woman.
Maybe just the more Jimmy thought about it and then the way Chelsea kept saying before she said she wanted to marry him that she had been teetering on the fence. Maybe that was like the last straw?
I don’t think it’s bad thing clay admitted he needed therapy.
I think the one thing I keep coming back to from this season... If Chelsea chooses Trevor, and Jimmy chooses Jess, it feels like things play out better for those 4 people.
Except apparently Trevor had a girlfriend the whole time who was fully on board with him coming on the show and to whom he was fully intending on returning to. He dumped her right before the show aired and threatened her with revenge porn if she went public. Seriously, if we can't trust reality TV c-list celebrities who CAN we trust?! 😂
28:16 give the editor a raise
Clay's mom is a Queen ❤
I thought I was the only one concerned about Clay saying: rock out with your boy...
Carowinds slaps, it has really good roller coasters
I will never disrespect Carowinds again
@@minakimes🎢🫡
Now that I think of it, I wonder if Clay would’ve gone through with the marriage had his father never attended🤔
Clay wasn't coming home at night! Who was actually surprised by this?! I'm just mad he did her so dirty. That was evil.
FOOKIN' TREVAH!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Mina you sound exactly like zendaya
Butterfly is old, lemme see the tootsie roll! 😂😂😂😂
I was born and raised in NC and Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia was way more awesome than Carowinds.
I grew up in VA and Busch Gardens was IT lol
I don't think was spur of the moment...he was too relaxed, not dressed up, talked about her in the past tense. I just didn't see any of the signs that would have expected to see from him if he were truly serious.
Megan Fox next to Jimmy 😂
I actually think part of ADs challenge has been her trying to sidestep the stereotype of unsupportive, angry, attitudinal black woman who doesnt deserve a caring and comitted partner...so she battles it by sticking by and providing support getting little in return
Conspiracy, I think that AD is renovating her home to sell, and calling it real estate. It explains the confusing finances and her having free time .
The ONLY way they're not dating is because Clay doesn't want to, the ONLY reason!
clay loves his mother the way he knows how to love but he idolizes his father. Poor thing, these schmenz are out here mentally a mess.
Run the tape back again because what she said he did was exactly what he did. What happened in that scene of episdie 12 was a perfect time example of gaslighting. Social media was practically making memes about the fact that Jimmy said he did want to have *ex with her. Now he is seem blatantly gaslighting her everybody is either conveniently missing it or severely down playing it. smh 💛💜
bad upload quality lag lagging rip
.jet ski injury.......SA.....we hardly knew ye
Clay IS NOT going to try and keep dating her. Once he's free he's going to date lots of others
😂😂😂 who knew cheating was genetically inherited
What is the deal with Trevor's hairline? Why is it all red with all those little scratches?
The simple truth is that AD was not “hot” enough for Clay. She’s a gem and dodged a bullet by him saying no. I believe Clay was emotionally abused by his father. It will take a lot of therapy and time for him to be ready to be a faithful husband.
yes say it! From jump I felt like Clay did not find AD fully his type. He only talked about he body and that's it. He also feels like the type that would go all the way on the show just because instead of doing what Jimmy did.. lol
She was to busy being attracted to him to notice.
