Leave it as it is don’t need more power. FWD with 400 is more then enough and you would risk reliability. Spend your money on a set of K&W V3 or Bilstein B16 coilovers
His exhaust sounds🔥what he has done is what I want for my 17' GTI SE. My plan is an IS38 at some point. His IS38 rebuild is perfect. He doesn't need more power than fwd can handle or put down...Great job👍🏿
Not sure honestly, I dont think I've ever referred to it as a big turbo as I'd save that for things like the TTE535 etc. Guess it's just what some people call it as its bigger than the IS20, but yeah I wouldn't refer to it as a big turbo personally. Think theres no secret as to why it's in the title 😉😂
I just got my mk7.5 gti 6sp MT custom tuned to 300hp and 350lb/ft tq with an added 3.5 inch catted downpipe and its a completely different car. However, I do feel that anymore power and it would be unpleasant/ quite difficult to drive. Had to have all the extra power taken out of 1st and 2nd because I'd have to feather the petal so much at low rpms. Lol. Taking it back another round of fine dyno tuning soon.
Hi, sick looking machine! So i just got me a mk7.5 here in the us. SE model but know nothing about upgrades on a gti. Its my 1st gti ever. That said, i love the sound of the exhaust crackles, what type of upgrade should i look into for that crackle sound I’m talking about? Name of brand types and system types would greatly help. Cheers!
@@elF3RCH0 hi mate, I've got a Cobra sports cat downpipe and non resonated catback exhaust. To get the pops etc that's a custom map I've got. Not sure if Cobra ship to the states but they're great!

I personally think that the 7.5 R/Gti will hold it's own against the MK8 GTI/R it's just a really well designed car. The new one seems to look nice but I'm not so sure that it's a big leap forwards.. maybe the MK9 yes but I'll skip the MK8 this generation.
I'm planning to buy a Golf GTI from 2015/2016. Around 80k Miles. Want to keep the Golf for 4/5 yrs and make 100k miles with it. Smart move or should i not do it?
If you can, stretch to a MK7.5 (17 onwards) They updated the IS20's as they went through the years, and the 7.5's are said to have stronger turbos! Hope this helps :)
GREAT build, props. One question, the tte turbo you have should be able to push out 450hp easily. Why did you go with it? Since a stock IS38 can run 400hp just fine for a lot lot less money then the upgraded tte you have. With your supporting mods. Cheers
Also went for the TTE instead of a standard IS38 as I was gonna buy a used IS38 and have it rebalanced etc, by the time I'd done all that the work would have taken ages and not much less money than the TTE. Plus it comes with warranty! Glad you like the build mate ☺️
hampshirephoto okay, it’s basically a more reliable IS38 then because it’s just a standard IS38 with upgraded bearings? It sits below their hybrids so again, how is this considered to be a big turbo? Anything that uses the stock housing isn’t considered to be a big turbo in my view.
@@thomasvanlooke that's fair enough mate. I havent called it a big turbo but I guess it's just a bigger turbo than the IS20 that comes on as standard. You're right though the term big turbo is usually used for some mental hybrids! Hopefully one day 😂
Will Casey I’m not trying to be negative at all mate! I love your car, 400 hp is the sweetspot for a GTI in my opinion, so no negative comments about the car at all! 🙏🏻

Big turbo compared to the IS20. It is by definition a bigger turbo, I mean if you compare it to the toddler sized ones on Supra's then fair enough it's not that big 🤣 stages are often defined by the tuning company, stage 3 often involves a change in turbo. MRC call it a stage 3 tune, so therefore its stage 3 by their definition 👍
Curlyjay 22 Revo is the only one that calls it a Stage 3. They do that for sales. Everyone else names it Stage 2.5. Just because Revo renames what it really is, doesn’t mean it is what they named it haha.
Will Casey sure, it is bigger, but everyone knows in the car enthusiast world, a big turbo is considered a non-OEM turbo, not a stock turbo replacement lol. So I guess a car is modified if someone puts a sticker on their car, because it’s no longer “stock” right?? Lol. That’s your logic. You’re actually wrong in your attempt to analyze what a Stage means for a car. Every car mas manufacturer has their own staging criteria. A Stage 3 Honda is different than a Stage 3 Audi, etc. Why is that? Because every manufacturer builds their cars differently. Some are N/A while others are boosted for example. Really cool car. Appreciate it more because it’s a GTI as a change to the R. But they stickers inside & on the windscreen are awful looking.
I was never sure about the stickers myself either. They may stay they may go 😂
Yeah it looked classy when I first saw it but when all the stickers were shown it spoils the look IMO , from a fellow manual GTI owner.
