    Great video, just like your others! I'm relatively new to the VW/MK7, having switched from supercharged MOPARs and lifted, built jeeps. Your videos have been a wealth of knowledge! I've had my MK7 for 2 months and so far I've changed to intake, added a catless downpipe, dogbone insert, straight pipe catback exhaust, solenoid-driven bov, and a short throw shifter. Unitronics stage 2+, is38 turbo, and twin intercooler are coming soon. Keep up the videos!

    Good solid list of recommendations. Unitronic Stage 1+ seems like a great way to enhance the performance on a Golf R for occasional tracking. In doing so, what other engine components would we need to modify. For example, would we have to upgrade the spark plugs to accommodate the increase workload? Any other components that would need to be factored? Thanks.

    I wanna ask a question... I know all "enthusiasts" buy the GTi model.. but people like me.. who enjoy the car and are more on a budget.. tend to buy the 1.8T TSi 3 door trendline model (which in canada, by the time I write this, is the less expensive one of the lineup...) what are the mods for these things ? 'cause all I see is 2.0T engine mods what about the good old 1.8T mods !?

    • @102wingnut
      @102wingnut 6 лет назад

      There are a couple cat-back exhausts and intakes you can buy. If you want power APR can do a tune for the 1.8 (at,least in the US, not sure whats available in Canada). You can also upgrade the turbo and downpipe. Best thing for the 1.8 is better tires. Mine came with 195/65 all season low resistance tires. Great for fuel economy but the engie overpowers them very easily. Id start with tires and wheels and an exhaust if you want more speed.

Anyways I have a few questions about the unitronic tunes. 1.) Will the stage 1 plus pull time to protect the engine if I accidentally put less than 93 octane or get bad gas on a fill up? Secondly, is this a tune I can do myself and reflash back to stock myself if necessary through a scan tool or lap top? Thanks.

    This may be a dumb question. But, are you able to run a Cobb stage 2 with the stock downpipe? I have a 3” cat back straight pipe and a ram air intake. Apparently it’s recommended that you get a high flow down pipe with a Cobb stage 2. Why is this necessary? I don’t want to go complete straight pipe. That’s too loud and It sounds great as is. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

    • @Drip_Drizzle
      @Drip_Drizzle 6 лет назад

      Moo Shee downpipe will give you more performance, your catback only effects exhaust sound. Stage 2 tune won't run right without intake and downpipe.

    Great but ....
    No 1) New engine and gearbox mounts. Power is nothing without control and that wheelhop needs to be fixed. Check out BFI black and green stuff.
    No 2) New turbo-back exhaust. You must evacuate heat before tuning. From Volkswagen Racing non resonated. LOUD!
    No 3) Oil catch can. These engines like to push oil from the crankcase ventilation. It ends up in the combustion - not good for power. Also BFI.
    No 4) More front control. New top mounts from Integrated Engineering.
    No 5) Stage 2 tuning made by Stertman Racing in Nynäshamn +310hp
    No 6) Swaybars 28mm front and back H&R
    No 7) Rubber. From Yokohama Advan A008 + ATS Racelight 19"
    Strange - sounds like my car.

    • @CigaretteRacing219

      B. Elkins you will only need software if you go with upgraded downpipes. If you get an intake, catback, or any other bolt on like that you'll be fine. My dad is running Stage 1 software on his MK7 and the DSG has no problem holding it. The new problem is trying to get more traction.

      Get a downpipe first, you'll get nice farts. Then ECU and preferably also a TCU flash. Personally I think anything more than that is unnecessary and bumps you down to "racer boy" 2 fast 2 furious 2003 level, might as well go all the way and put fire flame decals on it. Real classy 🤢🤮. • @robertweiser7122
      @robertweiser7122 8 лет назад +1

      yes ya can get without software... just a downpipe will help an intake ONLY enhances sound.. BS to power increaseThe ONLY reason to get downpipe first - if ha KNOW ya are going stage 2 software.( usually cheaper straight to stage 2 than buying stage 1 then later upgrading to stage 2) Some will upgrade software to next level for "free" if ya buy their hardware. Software is THE biggest bang for the buck period.

    • @robertweiser7122
      @robertweiser7122 8 лет назад

      +britishav8tor75
      yes software is the greatest bang for the buck... I personally KNEW I was going more than stage 1... So - for me- would have been silly to pick a software company that charged more to go higher. If ya have a plan- the best way is not always going for stage 1 then stage 2. The intake only matters AFTER stage 2 w bigger turbo. The exhaust is OK- I eliminated the first cat- still sounds stock.

    So the intake doesn’t make top 5 for “power mods” in my opinion and an Intercooler isn’t really a “power mod” to begin with, and even if it does probably not much. It’s main objective is to keep the air cooled and keep the car from heat soaking. And an intake at best with a good tune will probably give you 5whp.

  • @dha588
    @dha588 5 лет назад +1

    Intake doesn't give you any hp fyi. I removed mine after a week after noticing a decrease in hp.

    • @josemartin598

      Alot of it depends on the particular intake and your particular vehicle.

      Open air intakes have no gains and decrease power a little. But if you get a closed cold air intake your car will breathe better. Those hot air open ones are the ones that make that whoosh sound, that's the only benefit, the sound.
