- Comparing the Japanese and English voices of Xigbar.
Hochu Otsuka vs. James Patrick Stuart
Otsuka voices Xigbar like an old guy who has a youthful immaturity to him. Stuart translates this to having a Californian, "totally radical" accent. This one's a tough call, since both performances fit, but I think Stuart slightly edges out for me since the accent makes Xigbar more memorable.
lol "nothing any old about me". luxu, i mean, xigbar, you're 100+ years old.
More like one million years
in his defense ... his current body is not really 100+ ... is it not ? ...
Yeah, but his current body is like only in his 20's I think
@@rescuerex7031not really I’m thinking more like late 40s or early 50s

Ngl, i like Stuart's interpretation better. There's just something about it that makes by brain go fuzzy, in a good way, but i can't really tell if Otsuka is doing anything particular with Xigbar, apart from what you say in the description. But i'm also unfamiliar with the japanese language as a whole, so who knows. That being said, Otsuka sounds too serious for Xiggy, but i still appreciate his work ❤
Probably knowing Japanese would help, cuz I heard that Xigbar became like a way bigger presence cuz Nomura really liked his voice, so he told the actor to play it like he knew more than he was letting on, and I assume it would've been the japanese voice, rather than the English one
Thank you!
love it
