Lulu began her career in the UK before becoming internationally known. She had a big hit with the song "To Sir With Love" from the 1967 film, which she also starred in with Sidney Poitier. She also did the title song to the 1974 James Bond film "The Man With The Golden Gun". She also did the songs "Boom Bang-a-Bang", "Shout", "Leave A Little Love", "Try To Understand", "The Boat That I Row", "Oh Me Oh My (I'm A Fool For You Baby)", "I Could Never Miss You (More Than I Do)" etc. Lulu was married at one time to Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gees.

Lulu was one of the Best Singers in the 60's. To Sir With Love was the theme and title song in Sidney Poitier's movie "To Sir With Love" About a Black teacher goes a British school to teach and find himself in a classroom with wild untamed teens and eventually he straightens them out but it was a struggle. Lulu plays one of those teens.....and when the kids are about to graduate.....she sings this song!!!!! Lulu becomes an overnight success and starts her solo career with several hits.

1967 movie: To Sir With Love, starring Sidney Potier who played the teacher in the movie. The song is the movie title song and the song is for the teacher. Lulu is Scottish, but began her career in the 1960's in the United Kingdom (UK) and she also acted in this movie. Here she is in 1999 with Paul McCartney singing on British TV. He had a song out Brown Eye Handsome Man, which was a remake of an old Chuck Berry song. ruclips.net/video/D0YacZ9xH_A/видео.html

Apologies if someone already said this: This song is from the film “To Sir With Love,” 1967. It stars Sidney Poitier as a new teacher coming in midway through the year into an inner city London school full of poor and out of control kids everyone has given up on. The kids are mostly White and Poitier is their new Black teacher, it was a time in the UK where there was a lot of violent racism. The kids are horrible to “Sir,” they are racist, they threaten him etc… But he persists and doesn’t give up on them. It starts t have an effect on the kids who have never had anyone care about them or assume they could accomplish something. Lulu plays one of the students and Sir helps her discover an interest in learning and she shows her the courage to not be afraid to admit she is smart. At the graduation party, the kids give Sir a gift and surprise him with Lulu singing this song to him… I’m tearing up writing this… The film is wonderful. As a half Black half White kid, my mum made me watch it when I was a kid and it had a big effect on me.

She was featured on the British comedy series, 'Absolutely Fabuoous'. She played herself in more than one episode, and clearly is having fun lampooning her fame, and yet in on the joke.

I love this song, the fantastic voice of Lulu, who also wrote the song I think, and the movie, “To Sir, With Love.” It might be that Lulu’s character in the movie writes the song she sings as a tribute to their teacher, Sir. As I recall, he taught them to have the respect to use “Sir” as his name. I’m *sooo glad* you watched this video first. Sidney Poitier stared in this film about a Black Teacher in an English small town who never had a Black Teacher before and at first they didn’t warm up to him right away, but by the end of the school year he mad a huge impact on the Students. The legend Dionne Warwick was on Colbert a few nights ago, and recounted that when she first saw him, in NYC, she stalked him... until one day he turned to her and said: "Can I help you, little girl?" She said that he would go on asking that all the rest of his life. May his beautiful soul rest forever in peace.

You should do a react to the movie of the same name. It's an awesome movie starring Sidney Poitier that was made in 1967 and filmed in London. Sidney Poitier plays a teacher in a rough school in London's East End which is the rough side of town. He tames his class using a balance of sternness and kindness and understanding. His first rule is that they call him either sir or Mr Thackery. His second rule is that while in the classroom the students must address each other as Mr or Miss using their last name.

I wish the volume of the song was higher. The Paul Simon song wasn't loud enough either. I love you guys. Thank you for doing this song.

    60’s
To Sir With Love was the title of the film and the theme song.
She also costarred in the film with Sidney Poitier and sang it to him at the end of the movie.
All I know is she was a famous British pop star and actress.

The first film was in the 60’s and was about a London based school. They then released To Sir with Love 2 in 1996 and that was based in an American school, Lulu sand the song again and it was just as good

This was #1 in the USA in 1967. Her second biggest US hit has a similar groove: "Oh Me Oh My (I'm a Fool for You Baby)".
