The newly redesigned Epiphone Prophecy range combines the classic design and look of Gibson most iconic electric guitars, but adds a host of modern features to make them much more tonally versatile, whilst maintaining the vibe and style of the guitars that inspired them.
This guitar features the classic Gibson Explorer body shape with a Mahogany body and a 1/2 inch maple cap. The Mahogany neck features a modern Asymmetrical SlimTaper profile to improve playability. Other more modern features include a 24 fret Ebony fingerboard with a Graph Tech NuBone nut, a set of Grover locking rotomatic tuners, and most importantly a set of Fishman Fluence Pickups with an incredibly versatile switching circuit, offering modern high gain, vintage hum bucker and even noiseless single coil options.
So take a quick look and listen with Dagan and PMTVUK, and try one out for yourself at your nearest Professional Music Technology store...

I always wanted:
1. Purple guitar;
2. Explorer bodied guitar;
3. Modern noiseless active pick ups: Fishman Fluence pick ups will do;
4. Coil splitting & modern electronics;
5. Made for metal guitar.
Checks all those boxes, so I ordered one.
Thanks, Jack Sparrow!
Hey bro. Just wondering, how is it? I got the latest Epiphone Les Paul Classic Worn and love it and my bro is probably gonna get this soon. Looks and sounds fuckin rad.
@@peaner083 I bought my purple Extura used for $100 off new price, because it’s sold out everywhere but can be ordered new.
Mine came in very good, almost mint condition: locking tuners are tight, fretboard smooth & Fishman pickups sound clean enough to make computer chips. Durable, tight, well constructed, binding tight. Neck is super easy accessible, that back cutout makes it super easy to get to that 24th fret. Cool splitting and vintage sound electronics work fine. It was already set up to play because it was used.
This is my first Explorer bodied guitar, but it might be on the lighter, less heavy side of Explorer shapes, which can easily go past 20 lbs. But it is a metal shredder and can deliver the heavy, tight ass riffs, fo sho.
This was the most cost effective way for me to check all the boxes.
Even if you wanted just the Fishman pickups on their own for another guitar, they’d cost at least $300, then you’d need to re-wire and re-install for at least $200 because Fishman pickups aren’t plug and play and not easily installable into every guitar.
@@goodgriefitssimon $100??!!
@@angelsolis6172 No, read carefully: I paid $100 discount off new price. New sells for $900. I paid $800.
Or Russel Brand
...And Explorer for All
Except lefties lol
Lol. I wish this was true.
@@jamesm6083 i was born left handed but i had to learn to play guitar right handed because i didnt have a choice my uncle gave me my first guitar and said to me that i had to learn to play right handed because left handed guitars are in fact more expensive so i mean im happy lol
@@Nickgaming-sy5og Have you ever tried a left handed guitar?
@@Foxikaze yeah i cant play one it feels weird
This is Epiphone's best offering in this years Prophecy lineup imo. Such a beautiful & very versatile guitar w/ the Fluence pickups in it. Epiphone just keeps on getting better
That color is fantastic and that sound is killer. Thanks for the demo!
I’ve never really cared for the Explorer until seeing this. This thing is gorgeous and sounds monstrous.
I tried one of these through a Helix...thingy, which allowed for pitch shifting, so I had it pitch shifted to Drop B. My goodness, it sounded absolutely monstrous. Definitely gonna snag one as soon as I get the chance.
Dagan, you are awesome. I love your enthusiasm and you have some chops too. Always look forward to your videos.
Watching this on my lunch break. Stoked for this video;)
@@connorcampbell144 its 12 and election day in America
The moment they offer this in white, I'm ordering one.
Same. And then I'm getting a brass dipped locking trem for it, and switching out all the silver/chrome parts for gold/brass.
A white guitar naturally deserves to be golden as well.
@@nobodysdamnbusiness Epiphone already has the Lzzy Hale Explorer
Love the demos, & the guitars are fantastic.
I apologise to all the other awesome people who work at pmtvuk but id rather watch Dagan play and explain guitars 🎸 im sorry 😭😭😭
Honestly i Think everyone does
Are you able to use a whammy bar for this guitar?
@@iwearstilts8847 i mean you could mod it to
@@iwearstilts8847 no man it has a hard tail
Purple is my favorite color and the explorer is my favorite gibson design guitar. A match made in heaven
I got the caribean blue Les Paul from 2020, its fantastic. It feels like a better quality build than an American Deluxe Strat I used to have. If they had made a purple Les Paul though, then I would 100% have a purple Les Paul.
Epiphone makes a purple les paul classic
Digging that Purple! Thanks for sharing Dagan!
Honestly, I've never been a Gibson fan, I enjoy the SG, Explorer and V but I always just thought Gibson was overrated. These prophecies however have just blown me away, Epiphone knocked it out of the park with these and have made me consider getting at least a few of these. Plus that purple is absolutely amazing
🤘🤘
Damm, looks like they upped their game with these. They look cool.
I pre ordered mine!!! I can’t wait until I get it!!!
I like the addition of the asymmetrical thin taper neck...thats all Kramer and extremely comfortable. Overall, quite a bit of sweet guitar for the money.
Got mine in today. Absolutely love it.
Nailed it that is a guitar I have to add to the collection.
Ok I want one. I thought the pickups were a bit of a gimmick when I first read the spec but I’m sold now!
Dagen has this guitar swayed you from the sg. I played both concluding that the extura has more vibrato and was more fun to play slung with a strap
Looks like Epiphone is currently killing it.
I've been hot for a Les Paul Muse, but I think I need one of these.
Would be great to have a review of the Charvel So Cal Style 2 with Fishman Fluence pickups...
Have one on order. Beautiful
great job Dagan, so good and your spot on with your demos!
Just pre-orderd mine
I may never get the chance to own an '84 Purplebust Gibson Explorer, but this will do.
That thing is awesome! Ebony board right? Wow those Fishman pups are cool!
I hope they put the red finish on this someday
Rusell Brand playing epiphone prophecy :v
Bought mine today in yellow tiger. Holy fucking shit is all I'll say! I played a PRS tremonti SE just before picking this up and the PRS didn't even come close. Absolute beast and the fishman are outstanding.... Absolutely no hesitation and bought it right away.
I wish I wasn't a broke school student so I can afford this! I walked into a guitar store in my city the other day and I looked at a couple of LTDs and Jacksons.. but when I saw that guitar man. I immediately took it and plugged it into an amp and it's fucking amazing.
Still have my old Prophecy and it cranks... Was the look a like of the gibson M-III they refuse to bring back except bolt on neck. Got rid of the ill fated epi active pickups and put some rare washburn's in with custom wiring.
was waiting for the mention of the Ebony Board when he was going over the neck, and inlays. No mention though LOL
Excellent demo in regards to specs and playing examples. New subscriber.
I have been thinking about getting an explorer guitar for a while since it has always been on of my favorite shape, how is the neck dive on the guitar?
That's it. I am getting that Axe.🤘🏻
Any good?
I want one of these. So awesome
I just bought the black v and holy shit amazing guitars I want this purple extura next tho
I’d buy this without a second thought
I just wish we could get it in silver burst, but brendon small had to put his name on one with that color and now it’s locked in as a named signature guitar forever
Picked up the black version today things insane 😅 get it if you come across it
WANT! I can feel a spend up coming along...
I really want to try a 2020 epi
This guitar should have been Dagan's signature guitar. It's rare you see a player, and instrument complement one another, as well as him, with that Extura.
What are the weights of these guitars, particularly the Extura and the SG?
But but but should I get this instead of the Epiphone Les Paul standard plus top pro?
It seem that the potential is pretty similar in both models.
Nice cleans!!
Dark magician I will officially name that guitar. It can be universal
4:34 - I thought her was going to play Am I Evil?
Played that one before it's Great! So happy Gibson and Epiphone are making a few models with 24 frets! BUT! "Reach the 24th fret easier than you have before"?? Nah Ernie Ball Majesty has pretty much all guitars beat on fret access.
Im still going to press X to doubt when it comes to the _*"proprietary"* pickups. That just seems like marketing BS to me but even the regular standard Fluence pickups are still very very good.
Just got one bad ass guitar
Are the Black Aged Gloss version have the same specs/ hardware?
The original prophecy les pauls were so much nicer than what we got now.
I LoVE It! Torn between thisand the Hagstrom Fantomen
Ooh I'm a bit biased towards the Fantomen atm but if you have an unwavering dedication to active pickups or generally higher output, go with the Extura. The Fantomen is incredibly versatile in its own right but not as high output. Of course, I run through a good tube amp with plenty of overdrive so I still get a tone I like.
@@jmhanelineiv honestly, me too!
Damn, that's a sweet paint job. I've always wanted an Explorer but don't think I'd be able to do it justice :/
You're wrong buddy,i'm sure you'll do,24 frets&speed neck help you to achieve this goal👍
Just grab one dude, trust me I play one it’s worth it
I would have to have a guitar to where I can hit the last Fret easier
Putting aside that gorgerous explorer, can we talk about how sick his playing is?
Nice sound match with blackstar amp, what model is that blackstar🤘
Ht stage 100 mk 2
Oh man, that purple is nice. Is it ok to buy three guitars in one year? 🤤
At least! If she says anything ask to see her shoe collection! She's been doing the same with shoes!
Or purses
@@l01ner she who?
You look like Gene Simmons during the Revenge era!
I wonder why they aren’t making explorers
Which would you recommend between this, the flying V and the les Paul prophecy.....the objective is drop B downtuned guitar for rhythms and low chugs, not solos or high leads ....but mainly on the fat strings (nu metal, modern rock, post grunge)
Say screw it and go with the V
Are the tuners satin as well?
Awesome! But what happens if you pull volume knob and tone knob together at the same time?
Tone knob dictates the voice so coil split will be 'live'
@@juk3b0xgr1m thanks for that👍
badass ! going to get one explorer but it has to be black ... [as soon as i pay mi credit card from other 2 guitars XD]
Bro- I love your videos, so high energy!
BUT!!! and it's something that happens with many other store videos- the mic'd tones SUCK ASS!
Could you please try one video with a modeler? or a valve head into a two notes torpedo etc.. trust me, it will sound much better.
We're going to run both soon! Thanks for watching! -Lee
This guy can sell me a wet sponge he’s so good

Same here brother!😂😂
Are you guys going to do a video on the Harley Benton amarok series?
I could be wrong, but isn't Harley Benton only for Thomann
@@tylercady3985 damn I just checked and I think you might be right
@@connorthomas7009 yeah I was checking them out because I'm American so I was looking for the best deal on getting one here
how did you get the tone ?
Does it have neck dive issues?
So I just traded my epi sg special for this extura. Does it need a pick guard or is the finish scratch proof. What are your thoughts
Nothing is scratch-proof. You'll just have to be delicate, or not care. Putting a pickguard on will kill the mojo. It's also not standard, so you'd have to have a custom one made that accommodates the new shape, closer pickups, 24 frets, and sans the three-way switch. Just play it and enjoy it.
You can find a fabrication shop somewhere close most likely that can make you a clear plexiglass pick guard. May cost you $100 or more but you better make sure they measure everything properly. I personally would not put a single screw hole in that top. Let the scratches come... it just makes the guitar more “yours.” However, if pick scratches bum you out, you can buy some Maguire’s Scratch-X in the auto section of your local Walmart and buff out any light scratches easily. I’ve used that stuff on my 58 reissue Les Paul with no fear. It is a great product and works like magic
Is it neck heavy?
Where is it made?
I wonder how often you need to change the batteries? Why would a pickup need batteries in the first place?
Thats the "active" circuit side of the pickup...a built in pre amp which requires 9v. It is only "on" when the guitar has a cable plugged in. Batteries last a long time.
They are active pickups & not your traditional Alnico V or Ceramic pickups. & the battery lasts in my 2016 Prophecy for quite some time. Longer than u would think actually
6-10 months approx depending how often you use the guitar so you won't be changing batteries all the time.
hi! good work. why don't you make a video about how to prevent neckdive??!! you are constantly holding the guitar up ....lol :-)
that's what I was looking for. how are these things balanced? I have an epiphone thunderhorse and I love everything about it, except standing and playing it...
I have a question, it is $900 for the Guitar, couldn't one get a good used Gibson Explorer or SG for $900 Bucks?
No. Lol.
I have a question, I am quite small myself, how big is the guitar and how heavy is the guitar?
It's a pretty big guitar! Not too heavy though. it is a bit weighty, but not crazy.
@@PMTVUK okay thank you🤘
Wish it came in white
Would this guitar be good for death metal if I changed pick ups?
You just put them on the second setting. It's the classic explorer sound. Perfect for Death Metal.
DM tone is just thrash tone with more money behind it.
Must......have.
can the guitar be played if the battery dies?
Like an acoustic
Awesome
Im a get this guitar next month i cant fucking wait like this guitar is fucking sick i tried one out before there sick so i cant wait to buy one there 899 dollars
Sounds fucking great
For anyone who has one of these, how is the scale length? I own a Jackson Pro Soloist with 24 frets and from my experience I have always preferred 22 frets just because there is more space in between each fret. Seeing as this is a 24 fret guitar with a smaller scale length (24ish I’m guessing) does it feel really tight in between frets?
I have the old prophecy and it doesn't feel cramped at all smaller yes but not cramped.
@@zarlodious1 okay cool. That’s literally the one thing that makes me on the fence about buying it
@@patheticpigeon7673 The jumbo frets make it easier as well! I actually prefer the older version (Not a fan of the new colors except the tiger blue) I have two guitars with Fishman already and honestly cannot hear ANY difference in the voicings and it just sounds plain to me. I did swap out the 81/85 for Het set in mine and it has a great sound to it. I have $1300 guitars that are not as good as this prophecy so that should tell you something.
The scale length is the standard 24.75 inches, which will make the frets a bit closer together than a Jackson.
The number of frets doesn't matter. A 24.75 inch guitar will have the same fret spacing whether it has 22 or 24 frets, since it's the distance from the nut to the bridge saddle.
Big fan
