If you're still out there watch this. Although it's labeled as an interview, it's really a conversation between two people who very much respect each other and this song is discussed deeply.
People say that The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Led Zeppelin, Mozart and others are the best musicians ever. They ARE some of the best, but only Tori goes beyond music and into something so profound that the English language has no word to describe it. Saying that Tori is the best musician that has ever lived would be an understatement... ...but that's just my opinion. ;)
I love all the words but the lines that 'get to me the most' are, "Years go by and I'm here still waiting for somebody to understand". I am 74 and have just found someone who listens and understands! Someone who wrote a comment in reply to yours is obviously not a listener and, so, will never understand. Your's and my voices have been silent all these years. I hope you have found someone who listens and understands, Sunnylaine. I heard you, I listened and I send you so much love. I'm just sorry that it has taken me 11 years to discover your comment. Eleanor
I had the DISTINCT pleasure of meeting Ms. Amos way-back-when when 'Little Earthquakes' first came out and she was doing the college circuit and performed at Northern Illinois University (I gave her roses!). A few years later I won a radio contest to meet her again in Chicago (and she remembered me (apparently I was the first one who ever gave her flowers!). I absolutely adore her and her music! This will always be one of my all-time favorites!
That’s what I said on her live version of winter,so unlike today with all these distractions to cover up just how untalented these artists are today. This is talent just a piano and her beautiful voice.
@@nickolaosviniaris2305 Would really appreciate it if you could send me the wording of this beautiful song. My email address is chris.bwc.lam@gmail.com. Thank you ever so much.
One of those perfect songs where your exposed heart is both bleeding and on fire when listening and you just know it's the same for Tori playing it and that makes it even more amazing. Wish there were more artists like her these days.
I am 74, Apocrypha, and I never understood why teenagers screamed so much at The Beatles concerts! They couldn't hear them singing let alone hear the words! I saw Tori back then Amazing. She is so emotive and I really resonate with what she has to say. Console yourself with the fact that you can watch these videos. We didn't have them when I was young! I send you much love. Eleanor
Tori had actually scolded some nitwits in the audience who talked through 'little earthquakes' earlier in this concert. ("are you guys here to talk, or to listen to music? No, really!") So yeah, I would think that they've gotten the message and shut up for the rest of the show!
I'm very new to Tori, I only discovered her a few weeks back and I am completely in awe. I can't wait to discover all ehr work and already I can feel her music starting to have a life-changing effect on me. Very few artists can do that for me but if they succeed they have my heart forever. Tori's purity and honesty si unlike anythign I've ever seen and the fact that the entire world is not obsessed with this amazing music is a mystery.
I was already 'grown up' and I could add more to your list, but I will say my musical journey through life has been lyrics and emotions stirred, if it doesn't make me feel something... It's poop! Tori has never failed to make me feel something. Still the finest female I've ever heard.
I love the power in her piano playing. You can hear someone else play a piano but she has such her own style, its intriguing how someone can put so much in their music and yet some people over look all the emotional aspects. she is so connected with her music.
"Silent All These Yeats" is talking about serious matters throughout our lives, ranging from our faith in religion to our most shameful memories. My dear Tori, who are you? Are you from this world? I can just say that I owe you so much my dear.
Leonardo Mulè "I got the anti-Christ in the kitchen yellin' at me again Yeah I can hear that Been saved again by the garbage truck I got something to say you know But nothing comes" And if you look at "Little Earthquakes" album as a whole, you'll find what I mean.
She is pretty much the only artist I feel is better live than on the album....like 100000 times better...she cares SO MUCH about her audience...she interacts with them every single second, while still giving a mind blowing musical performance. I would kill to see her live...
I love watching her live, you think she's preforming just for you, like you're the only one there. My husband and I went to one of her concerts years ago. Best money we ever spent.
It is so hard for me to believe this was 91/92. It seems like yesterday to me, and hardly the early 90s. Her music is timeless. I can't believe she's close to 50 now. It makes ME feel old, I guess (I would have been 10 or 11 when this came out, I thought this music was out when I was a teenager, but I guess it was longer ago than that). I listen to other music from the era, the pop music, and it sounds like the 90s, but this could have come out yesterday.
I loved those words you wrote, Techno. When my sister and I were children we were told that, as we were 'juniors', our opinions counted for nothing. When I grew up I became a teacher and I always listened to the children and, at the age of 74, I still am. It's wonderful! I'm still a child at heart, Children have so much to teach us. Much love to you, Techno. Eleanor.
It's 2020 and I am still amazed and humbled to have seen Tori live in 1993-to have shared her space-time in my 20s is a gift that is difficult to reconcile. I feel damn lucky. She is a light or empathy, experience, honesty, solid genius that takes my breath away, and commentary, witness, truth, and I can't believe we are all so lucky to have either grown up with her or to have found her, just when she was everything we needed. And the music isn't bad, is it? ;) Spectacular.
WOW, JUST WOW !. I can’t stop listening to this, This is utterly beautiful. Her voice, the words, the piano playing, the short pauses and her phrasing, the emotion and how she looks at the audience. I read in the comments, someone said that it’s like she is giving out hand picked flowers, some barbed and some soft. Perfect description.
Totally remember the "Little Earthquakes" CD my sister had it when it came out. I became a fan instantly. Growing up in our house was brutal/ and emotional damage done. At 46 yrs old. I reflect on this music and remember being a survivor! She is a Wonderful Artist and I will always be a fan
She is definately an original. She is so in her element when she performs, as though she is making love to her piano and piano stool. Beautiful all around.
She's been inspiring me for 11 years now, and it's funny to compare the feelings through the years. When you go from 15 to 26 the way I have the shit and the pain yet beauty it all delivers at once. She was once my only friend long ago. Now it's all broader and shared in front of my eyes now. I love her very much, and I can't see how anyone can't. Unless for laughs, but no she's the real thing. Period. Very personal stuff too like she could sing about having a period.
I almost forgot how much her music has inspired me, in a much deeper way than words can convey. "Silent all these years", might as well call it suppression. "I hear my voice and it's been here", now that is empowering.
Played the 'Little Earthquakes' CD constantly when I moved to South Carolina for a couple of years in 1992. Simply incredible, powerful like raw silk. Real as can be. Good to hear new music with Winter.
This song is great! I heard it over and over again and never got tired. Tori, the girl you're singing about you made her heard. She may be silent all these years but her unspoken words will remain forever in this song. There're lot of us in this world are silent. Many preferred silence over existence, may be acceptence. Thank you Tori for reminding us of that moment.
Talk about hearing a pin drop? I had the privilege of hearing what I judge to be one of the best piano players in the history of pop, certainly one of the most original, many years ago and was in the balcony where you could lean over and watch the crowd below. And it was the first and only time (well Kate Bush too!) where I witnessed an audience agog and awe struck by what they were hearing!
Just Tori and her piano. Perfection. Rediscovered her this past week. Thank god. Can’t stop watching her videos. There are several great ones from this concert alone. What a treat it must have been to be there!!
I have always loved this song! Tori Amos speaks to me through her music and having both experienced traumatic sexual experiences her music helps a lot.. Truly not a pleasant thing to deal with but having been raped recently(all I got is his cell phone number that I know and the first name), glad to know Tori is there to help me as it runs through my mind from time to time

This is just too good. Words can't describe the brilliance of her songwriting, musicality, and performance. That voice and piano playing is one of a kind.
It is known: Tori is beautiful, she is talented, she is pretty unique, she is determined, strong, kind... fabulous... what many of us wish we could be, and speaking for those of us who cannot speak, whether that was her intention or not... and such beautiful sounds whether you listen to the words or not, though you should...

A perfect performance artistically and aesthetically. Besides her vocal and instrumental parts, all the slightest details were beautifully displayed. How she sat, how she breathed, how she smiled, how she moved, how she looked, how she raised her eyebrows, all these elements contributed to this flawless performance. Overwhelming.
I have been lucky enough to see her perform two years in a row on the lead up to xmas in glasgow, scotland and i have to say each time i was totally transfixed! ive seen a lot of artists perform but without doubt tori has been outstanding. Each song performed in a totally unique way but never the less powerful. She's great, when I first heard her years back I thought she was just a Kate Bush impersonator but she really isn't.She is a great, original powerful musician in her own right.Loving you Tori.
"Years go by Will I still be waiting For somebody else to understand Years go by If I'm stripped of my beauty And the orange clouds Raining in head Years go by Will I choke on my tears Till finally there is nothing left One more casualty You know we're too easy Easy Easy" No, Tori, we're not too easy, perhaps, we're just too kind...your words always speak what I cannot speak for myself. .

The first time i heard this..i was caught so off guard..i emotionally wasnt ready..and i literally fell apart..cuz i knew exactly what she was talking about..😭😭
Such a tiny statement, it's your turn now to stand where I stand, with everybody looking at you here take hold of my hand,. Such a powerful example of helping someone through something difficult that they caused you to go through, hopefully forgiving them enough to walk with them while they face the same so they are not alone It's ) like the power of vulnerability, like returning malice with kindness, it is turning the other cheek, after you have been slapped on one side giving them the chance to do it again hoping they will recognize and appreciate that you didn't just knock um out instead
This song is still so darkly honest and stunningly beautiful 30 years later. Tori's presence on stage,...just incredible.

She is certainly incredible...! I love different too... get tired of "same"... I'd love to hear what you think about this artist: It's actually me... would you mind taking a listen? It would be very kind of you. thanks in advance :))ruclips.net/video/WpxFeflZVkE/видео.html

Oh my Tori Amos. A girl with beauty and artistry. What more can I ask for?
Wow...I can't imagine this song not existing. I would've loved to have been there the first time that song was ever played.
Masterpiece
Breathtaking....and her music is quite enchanting too
I'm playing this tomorrow night, and I can't wait. I love her music.
This and "Winter," two of the best on the planet.
I'd forgotten just how good she really is, wow!!! Refreshing to hear this again
our beloved redhead is on emotional fire-and she takes us with her as usual. Can't wait for the cd/dvd!
I love this song.. She's so passionate about everything she sings.
Tori has moved me for many many years and this is classic!
Such a tiny statement, it's your turn now to stand where I stand, with everybody looking at you here take hold of my hand,. Such a powerful example of helping someone through something difficult that they caused you to go through, hopefully forgiving them enough to walk with them while they face the same so they are not alone
It's ) like the power of vulnerability, like returning malice with kindness, it is turning the other cheek, after you have been slapped on one side giving them the chance to do it again hoping they will recognize and appreciate that you didn't just knock um out instead
Love her voice.. she´s so talented... beautiful piano playing as well...
beautiful voice, beautiful woman... Tori's a divine gift from Heaven for us mortals...
her voice sends chills through me
saw tori back then in London.supporting Marc Cohn.she sang 3 song in a word breathtaking .
