Cate has got the most soothing voice. Someone should ask her to narrate The Price of Salt for an audiobook. I'd pay good money to hear her read that book.
The first time she spoke here, my immediate thought was "Are there any audiobooks read by her??" lol. Actually i think it would be slightly odd having "Carol" as the narrator as that is Therese :)
How someone can't fall in love with Cate. Carol is the first movie I saw with her and I literally fell in love with her in a half of the movie. How she said sweetheart to Rooney it was the cutest thing I've ever seen
Cate was so gentle to Rooney,,☺ when Rooney made a frustrating moment by asking"sexually" and they all laught but Cate soon said to the journalist "oh I didnt realize its a sum" , helped Rooney break the frustrating moment!!! Well done Cate!! and Rooney is soooo cute and honest!
The pause at 10:15 Rooney makes, is wonderful: You know, it was easy for me to feel chemistry towards Cate, not only because you know she is ......... Cate. There's just room in there to think, should I say goddam hot, nah ok, I just say Cate.
Listening to Cate Blanchett is like a going to a lecture. She's so quick and witty and smart with her answer. I love love her comparison to falling in love that no matter what you wears - the feeling of falling in love is the same!!! how true is that.
I watched the film yesterday at the Rome film festival... I held my breath throughout the whole film, it was flawless. I literally cannot wait to the official release to watch it again. You all will love this film. Each shoot, every move, every word is so intense it tells the story like no other. Cate Blanchett is outstanding
I’ve analyzed 18:20 so much. Those two are definitely gazing into each other. You can see cate’s eyes shift from Rooney to Todd so SHE WAS DEFINITELY LOOKING.
HOW is it possible that Cate seems to understand the story and its meaning and the character's motives so much better than anyone on that panel?? Is she really that much smarter than them, or just 10,000x more passionate about the film than them? This is like caring more for your work than your own bosses... but seriously, Cate provides the best explanations here.
Well she is. Also it's like in the movie, Rooney is so intelligent herself but it's harder for her to voice her opinions with words where as cate is so confident.
I think Cate is very smart. She can have a very deep understanding of her character. Also she is good at language expression and thinking.Excellent actress.
Ohhhh man! 13:07 The guy starts talking about "strong women" and patronizing them and I'm WAITING FOR Cate's reaction here... She keeps the poker face at first but it takes her seconds before she blurts out a condescending WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? LOL I DIED. She's so right, enough with the nonsense. More female leading roles, yes. But let's stop treating them like it's rare - we're going for equality here.
Absolutely, it's always the right time for love stories and this was the right time for Carol. A timeless masterpiece. I think every (romantic) lesbian woman dreams about this kind of tragic and passionate love. At least I do. With whole my heart. Thank you Todd Haynes, cast & crew for the beautiful movie Carol.
@Sydney and her voice sounds more more deeper. How can someone be a perfect like that 🤣,not just beautiful but intilligent and talkactive for the same time.
18:20 Well Haynes just know that when he directed the film :-) See CB's eyes to Rooney, said "What the f***???", and really made them both, Rooney and Cate's blushing
I watched this movie already ten times. And still not enought. I love how Carol ( Cate) lead this love story. It is so natural. And how Therese follow. But at the end, swich their leading part. I am in love with this movie ;)
Me to, and I feel the same way. It is as beautiful as they switch roles. Carol becomes more shaken and unsure, and Carol plays the rolle of Carol fantastic she is outstanding, I hope she wins an Oscar. Love here she is fab.
"Sorry I asked' 15:28 Oh the boy is triggered! He could have just said thank you for your (well-thought out) answer. Also, I feel bad for Cate whenever that type of question (27:28) is asked. She's so annoyed by it and she has to find the right balance of defending herself without over doing it. Also, so many questions are directed at her BECAUSE she is an Oscar winner. She has to field every one of them and make sure that her reputation along with the people she's working with reputations' aren't tarnished or put under scrutiny. That's a lot of responsibility.
There are so many things to ask and people just seem to always repeat the same questions! I wonder how many times they have to answer that question about chemistry! I already saw it a lot of times!
+Hui Yeah, totally! She's so great, she's not even a little bit afraid to question what people are asking or to say that a question is ridiculous! haha
+Morning Moon agree the questions are so stupid, that one about the child love to Cate - "did it come from heart ?" .. what a silly thing to ask a women with 4 children! even if she didn't have children, majority of people have this love for child in their flesh already!!!
Rooney Mara is good at understanding the script and portrait her characters. But talking is never her thing. She can feel it but hardly describe her feelings or articulate her own thoughts.
and somehow im fascinated with everything shes gonna say. she not really a talkative one but i like how she admire cate and working with her and with the director.
I worked in the PR department for the National Endowment for the Arts and we received so much "ire" regarding his film "Poison." I am delighted to see him earn the credit and success that he deserves - the film is amazing. Thank you, S

Love this conference and keep going back to it. Haven't seen the film as yet, but am so much looking forward to when I'm able to view it. Have read the novel it's based on several times and I'm hoping that the film will somehow translate what the novel was conveying to this film. If it manges that, it will be a magnificent film.
every woman I know is strong. I mean, my mom is strong, she raised two children, I don't know what else do you need to be seen as strong. Raising kids seems so hard! And she married a good man who turned out to be a chauvinist. I mean, I love my dad, by he's so fucking chauvinist and my mom has had to deal with that and it must be fucking hard to do that.
+Nina Tabbal My father (78) and older brother ((52) are f**cken chauvinists too. They put down the feminine because in this patriarchal dominant system they have been programmed to do so, it even goes back as far as my grandfather and got unconsciously passed down the line BUT it's stopping with me! I recently told them that they were sexist pigs and that belittling and putting down women is NOT OK but an abusive pattern! They're denying there own feminine aspect by doing so because they see feminine as "pussy" and weak. We must be balanced with our feminine and masculine aspects to be whole because energetically we are both but in physicality look different. Any woman accepting and condoning this behavior in men is doing a disservice to other women!
9:00 the director says:"The Cinese women want to turn a gay for Cate&Roonet"!!!hhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I have to say this is verrrry right!!!many fans love a couple of C&R in china.啊啊啊啊啊啊我是迷妹!!!
I don't understand how these people have snagged jobs as journalists... Out of all the questions you could ask that actually add some value to the film and the overall experience and knowledge of everything, you ask these questions, that (obviously by their reactions) have been asked before. Most of these, for me, should be common sense. I feel awkward just hearing them asked, kudos to the people on that panel that can take most of those thoughtless questions and actually spin them to provide some great answers.
This thoughtful and at times moving press conference was seriously marred at the end by the sudden, noisy, oafish "Hey U Guys" sound logo at the end. Please think about that, you guys.
Cate has got the most soothing voice. Someone should ask her to narrate The Price of Salt for an audiobook. I'd pay good money to hear her read that book.

I like that the panel's intelligent response causes him to apologize for asking!
