This movie is perfect in every ways, the script, the actors, the director, the props, the costumes, the music, etc. All synchronize beautifully. My favourite scenes are: 1. When Carol saw Therese from the taxi on the way to custody fight. 2. When Carol being true to herself in custody fight with Harge. 3. When Carol and Therese meet again at Ritz. 4 The last scene. All the details from the acting of two great actors, costumes, props, music timing to tell the emotion and feelings without dialogues on those scenes are incredibly mesmerising. The cinematography is visually stunning. In my opinion, Rooney Mara should have won Oscar for this movie.
One of the best Carol Q&A. The questions have more “sense”, and are quiet complex compared to the silly ones asked in Cannes. Also, Cate definitely knows what she’s doing. I can listen to her talk about films and theatre the whole day! Andrew is a lucky fella.

@@mlw9195 i agree this movie is so well made and beautifully written and shot it feels so amazing to watch definately one of my favourite movie of all time
She chose 5 men right off to start questions... Carol was an outstanding love story of two lonely women. Finally a sophisticated love that did not end like The Children's Hour. This movie was desperately needed. Cate and Rooney were real in their roles. The only addition I would have loved to see would be a bit beyond that final scene where they finally could be with one another in that Madison Ave. apt. and thus being finally free in a scene with one another and not under the stress being given off by other characters who interferred with their happiness.
This film deserves recognition. It was beautifully made. The acting like it was real and not in a movie. I can feel the chemistry of main characters and their feelings through out the film. I am in love.
Cincinnati is one of the best cities to work in as an artist. The people are so appreciative and salt of the earth real. One of the best locations to record music in. No charades. No smoke and mirrors. The people are truly happy to have you there working. I’m glad the makers and artists in this wonderful film found that to be true as well. I now go to Cinci just to go.
It is not just a lovev story . It is love between two women of a considerable age difference and different background which indicate different paths of experience. The attraction is instantanious and could not thrive and go deeper if it was a conventional liaison. They give each other space -oh those meaningful silences -. They are vulnerable and intense. It is Carol who was the first to break. But she is also the first to find the language where they can co-exist as equals not obliterating the sexual attraction. Therese blossoms because of Carol and vice-versa and finally she is the one that pushes forward to an ending that is more or less happy. A look that unites both in a man'world.
yesss! thank you 😊 this is the comment I'm looking for ♥️ she soooo cute to her while being professional and serious toward the host 🥰 i love that kind of difference
Such a beautiful film..I watched it 3 times straight away in the deep Corona Days, trying to understand the subtext like..Why/What Carol means when she asks Therese: "What are you thinking?..Do you know how many times a day I ask you that?" [Did she ask her with a gaze or a look?]...Anyone?
Hi :) In the book Carol needs to ask many times what she's thinking when we can read Therese's inner thoughts but they remain silent ones, she sometimes struggles to express them towards Carol and/or she's an observant type, as I said with many inner monologues and thoughts. I think that in the movie Carol recalls the moments they share in scenes not shown for us, for the audience. We are not with them 0/24 during their trip. :)
@@anfoare I'm reading the book now! Impossible to find a hardback print, even after the reprint, but found Kindle version for $.99. Though I just started reading it, the seemingly gaps are already being revealed! Thanks again

For me the novel and the movie are a whole gem...together. The movie is a piece of art. 🤗❤️ Have a nice time reading the novel! 😊
@@anfoare I'm past Waterloo & over the halfway point in the book and Carol's character is quite different from how she's portrayed in the movie. The question she asks is "What's the matter?..Do you realize how many times a day YOU MAKE ME ask you that?" followed by "Don't you think it's a little INCONSIDERATE?" She projects so much blame on Therese throughout, and so demanding, reminding me of a Drill Sergeant at times. Does Carol's softer side show up in the book? Are you aware of any discussions of the book? Thanks..
I hope so. There's a deleted scene with Abby and Therese before the road trip. They have a conversation about what her intentions are with Carol. There's also a scene when Abby asks Carol to be with her again. I just want to see more of Sarah Paulson! I bet they were great scenes!
One thing about that meeting.. Why there is no this actor who played her husband.. And why there is no Sarah Paulson.. The main thing in that movie is of course their love, I mean by this Carol's and Therese's but their story wouldn't be so strong without this drama around.. This dramatic love of her husband who just couldn't handle the fact that she doesn't love him in the way he would expect, this strong Carol's drama who is facing such a awful situation with her husband in regards to her divorce, kid etc.. And this "always by her side" first "this kind of" loved one played by Sarah Paulson.. Without them this movie wouldn't be so picturing even justice system in this particular period of time in regards to her divorce.. Like have u seen how far her husband went to stop her from divorcing him.. He even took of her her kid... What she was facing... Now ad it up together and you will see that Carol really loved Therese.. Being in happy and healthy relationship with another woman is the most beautiful thing which can happen..
I would have liked the moderator to acknowledge the person who answers her question. She asks a question, one of the panel answer , moderator immediately turns her attention/question to the next person. I find that so dismissive, after the panel have taken the time to answer so articulately.
it's not a love stroy, a young girl is obssessed with a woman, she doesn't even care about her, she never was interested by Carol, she never tried to know her. She showed an uninterested behavior about carol. she is passive and never gets involved for Carol. carol takes all the risks for her which is exhausting for Carol who adds an extra challenge in her life like her divorce and the custody of Rindy, but she is the only one to get involved. her relationship with Carol is for her a fling and doesn't take responsibility which makes her selfish, she doesn't make sacrifices like Carol did for her but acts like it's normal for Carol to be there for her or Abby in the second part of the movie. her experience with Carol is not a real engagement, she is just focused on her own development without empathy for Carol, she is oblivious or unconcerned about Carol's situation, and that's made her a big problem. she never supports Carol and doesn't understand why Carol prioritizes Rindy and therefore gets angry. During Carol's letter, Therese refuses because she feels hurt and acts like it was Carol's fault. therese is just attracted to the relationship she has with carol than carol herself, it's an experience with twists and turns, it's a challenge but she takes it as a game until Carol left. the dynamics and the exchange between them is not fair, a healthy relationship cannot be built on that, her actions influence Carol's life in a bad way
