ONCE-IN-A-GENERATION BLIZZARD!

  • Ground zero #blizzard conditions in Downtown Buffalo with winds gusting up to 79 mph. Travel ban is in effect. Forecast models now show over 80 inches of snow possible by Christmas. The seiche or Great Lakes storm surge continues to cause major flooding along the eastern tip of Lake Erie. This is the most extreme blizzard I have ever covered, and it is just getting started. Stay safe everyone.

My parents lived in the Buffalo area during the Blizzard of '77. My dad agrees with your observation: This is a once-in-a-lifetime event!! He said that this blizzard is right on par with, if not worse than, the Blizzard of '77!
Even then, my dad, being a true Western New Yorker, wanted to take a walk in the blizzard today. XD Of course, my entire family refused to let him, and he listened! Even my aunt, his brother's wife, said no to him going on a walk in this weather!
So far, our power hasn't gone out here. However, I've heard reports of entire trees down on power lines on one of the major side roads across town from us, and trees on power lines along one of the parks in our town! I hope everyone in Buffalo is staying indoors and staying safe!!

10:30 Statue of Tim Horton. I am a product of the infamous Blizzard of 1977. I've heard so many stories about that storm. My father said the difference between this Blizzard and the Blizzard of '77 is the amount of existing snow on frozen lake erie and the duration of the storm. While this is bad, the Blizzard of 1977 is still the worst ever faced here in Buffalo. Reed, you're amazing... Love seeing The Little Rock, The Sullivan's and The Croaker as well as Buffalo in your recent videos. Pearl Street Brewery isn't far from you. Be sure to stop there for a bite and a pint. Wow; I live in Australia and I've never seen snow! This is something you live with daily - it would be scary! I'm not saying we don't get snow, just not where I live
