BUFFALO COATED IN FEET OF ICE! Insane ice sculptures at Buffalo Harbor

- Check out this insane layer of ice from a powerful SEICHE or Great Lakes storm surge from a once-in-a-generation blizzard. This is Buffalo Harbor where feet of ice combined with 80 mph winds caused damage to trees and structures. The scenes of the ice sculptures with the lake effect snow band in the background are beautiful this Christmas morning. Never stop chasing.

Never Stop Chasing
Can't be that cold , if he's not wearing gloves lol
I have good circulation. Do not attempt
I've never seen anything like it in real life only in the movies. Prayers for everyone going through that. 🙏
The USA has always had weird and bad weather and storms, the pilgrims and early Americans probably had to deal with stunningly bad blizzards like this, I am British, here the climate is usually cool or cold and wet with brief warm weather and occasional short heat waves, I doubt we have had extreme ice storms like this.
I´m totally with you. Merry Christmas and greetings from Germany : - ) In my region we have +10 degrees. That´s also a big F . . .
This happens every other generation or so
@@michaelborgelt1600 you know nothing about history then. Britain was notoriously cold at one point.
Thank You Merry Christmas to you as well from The United States of America.
Reed is beyond professional and heroic. I rate him a national treasure. I am over 70 and I've seen rough weather and this is really bad weather but the weather forecaster being out there on the job is just totally over the top. I cannot say enough about how brilliant this man is. Please clone him ASAP!
Get back on your meds!
Seriously? Lmao
He always looks out for people in trouble too. ❤️ Merry Christmas Mr. Timmer
Just another fool clogging the streets when he shoulkd be indoors.
You can’t clone greatness!
Thank you for Risking turning into the Abominable snowman for us, 🙏pray❤️you got your eyebrows covered today, Merry Christmas Reed🎄& everyone ❣️, from☀️🥶 Florida
😄
Reed totally in his element, what seems crazy to us is a great day out for Reed. This was one winter storm that will not be forgotten for a long while. Stay safe Y'all and Never Stop Chasing👍
I get goose bumps just listening to the wind and seeing all that ice.
🥶
@@theresacoringgray6885 Total CGI, FAKE snow, FAKE weather, all done in a big studio, great FAKE entertainment, we all love the comedy
Unreal !! Looks like a movie scene in another galaxy!! Stay safe there Mr. Reed!
A shocking scene of layers of frozen storm surge . Thanks Reed for showing this because no one has the temerity to go
out there!
He I but die. So temerity lol. Just kidding I can barely watch the whole thing. So cringe
Смотри осторожно ходи а то страшновато.
Seen more ice in my damn freezer before I got one that defrosted.
Look at the collar of the ice cover the building. That's how mutch dirt there is on the water.
@@oldbluewitch3386 Total CGI, FAKE snow, FAKE weather, all done in a big studio, great FAKE entertainment, we all love the comedy
Wow! I’m a sailor, with decades of experience on Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. 20+ foot waves on “shallow” Lake Erie are unfathomable to me!
It is 210 feet deep. Not 21.
@@truther001 That's the deepest point, it's the shallowest lake on average and is often 30 feet deep in places.
Forget the white Christmas, its an Ice Christmas, prayers for the ones hurting in all this.
Sea spray and extremely frigid winds make beautiful works of art 😍
Yes they do
Oh my word, that's insane. Now that is one cold icy scene. Dangerous.
Insane? If you all get upside-down in the ice, how would be that insane than?
Mumble mumble
@Reed Timmer Thankyou so much for your effort. Will be following you 2023. You put 100 percent effort into these storms! ♥️
Freezing spray as you know can sink a ship. Merry Christmas Reed! Hope the freighters of the Great Lakes have safe passage. Very beautiful scriptures.
Reed, you are a very dedicated storm chaser, 365 days a year, from one coast to another and everything in between! A great commitment to the science of meteorology!
Reed, you're amazing. It takes serious courage to do this. Stay safe.
I hope you are getting Hazzard Pay !!
What a weather nerd! If I was up there, I'd be doing the same thing, what fun! No way I'd stay indoors, at least as long as I could handle it. Excellent video!
Wow. This is so beautiful and ferocious!
This is unbelievable!! Thankyou Reed for your video. I wonder how Niagara Falls are faring today. People who live in Buffalo really have some rough weather. Got to give them their due. Toughest people in the northern US. Buffalo Bills still play in an open stadium. Not enclosed. Not heated. Can you imagine? Thankyou Reed. Prayers for everyone effected by the cold.
Game delay last week from the Snowballs . Yes they are Tough .
Wow! This is beautiful and scary at the same time. Thank you for sharing this video.
That looks like the Arctic. Its going to be troubling when all that melts.
This is on my Top-5 list of BEST VIDEOS EVER!!! Reed Timmer, you are gutsy (and maybe a bit mad), but this is a perspective that none of us could ever see if not for you! The "shimmy" made so much sense.
Take care, Sir🎅❤⭐💞❄🌨🎄
How do you not have more then 700,000 subs, should be in the millions!! Damn balls of titanium!! Thanks for all the crazy, crazy entertainment!
Thanks for posting this video. this report was much better than news reporting it. Take care.
It looks like some sort of grotesque art. Great video!
Buffalo New York sits on Lake Erie; one of the Great Lakes. A "seiche" is a temporary disturbance or oscillation in the water level of a lake or partially enclosed body of water, especially one caused by changes in atmospheric pressure.
I live in Southeastern Michigan. It is currently 16°F here at 3:32 pm. It is still snowing. This snow is Lake Effect snow coming from Lake Michigan on the Western side of the state. It is in a "train pattern" off shore moving in a straight line from between Muskegon and Holland, MI moving due East. I'm just really happy I don't live in Buffalo, NY.
Me 2 I live in Cleveland so I know about lake effect snow
Do you know why the ice on the surface is forming in circles like that? It’s fascinating!
@@claymonsterpottery
It's called "Pancake Ice"
@@checkpointchecky9665 Meh.... maybe 30 or 40 years ago, but not now in Cleveland. The lake effect here is beyond underwhelming and not to write home about.
@@JenJHayden I know if the wind was blowing out of the north to the south that would be me
Amazing ice sculptures, and the fact that the town seems abandoned makes for a very cool video. Thanks for sharing!!
Wow! So glad that you made it back to warmth and safety off of that iceberg! Without any poles or boot spikes?! Yikes! 😳🥶👏 Merry Christmas Dr Reed! 🎄⛄Brightest Blessings for Safe Travels! 🙏TYVM for ALL that You Do! ☺️✌️❤️🦋🙏
Never seen anything like this in my whole lifetime.
Global warming weaken artic stream and shift him southern and cause those storms in mix with tropics..
It wont last many more years and then usa midlands wont have snow anymore.
Now imagine that 12,800 years ago worldwide
Or we could imagine it now worldwide lol
As much as I love the cold.. I'm thankful lol
So what your saying is global warming has been around before we started adding pollution
@@williamnunez9609 From things I've been watching. During Dinosaurs time. CO2 reached 6000 ppm. We are at 404ppm. Apparently Sun output is the main driver of sea level change. Also if we went down to 150ppm co2. Plant life would start to die.
Lastly as CO2 levels drop the systems become more unstable and you get heatwaves, floods, snow etc. Storms.
Much of what I've stated is from watching Randall Carlson. Very upto date with what's going on data wise.
@@Etaoinshrdlu69 Yes not 100%, but found all over the globe was my point. Not just Iceage, floods. Etc.
I was out on arctic ice with an Inuit elder on a sunny day, no wind at all. I couldn't stand still on the ice.
The Inuit elder said it was over six feet thick and strong as concrete and steel, saying it was ancient ice.
He had to hold me before I could stand by myself and gradually shuffle over to watch him at his fishing hole.
I really like the colours of this video, catching some artistic inspiration looking at the scenery.
Back in the '70s, college kids used to park their cars on frozen Lake Champlain in Plattsburgh, N.Y. There were rumors that someone actually drove over the frozen lake to Vermont.
Beautiful story. Thank you.
One of my fav memories is walking to the middle of lake Chautauqua with mom to chat with the ice fishers. Ice is strong too, they build a castle most years
My kids got stranded at home in Buffalo and weren't able to make it home for Christmas. First time in 30 years without all of my children home.
Glad they're safe
@ HORTENSE Merry Christmas!🎄⛄
But it's wonderful that everyone is Safe isn't it? 🤗 My family and I won't be able to celebrate Christmas until late January. Thank goodness for my artificial tree! 🤭
Keep Smiling and Enjoy Your Holiday! ☺️✌️❤️🦋🙏
@@trudy285 safety comes first. We can celebrate another day. Merry Christmas to you and yours 🎄🎁
Well done for documenting the storm.
A real Weather Man on the move, thanks love your reports!
Bro you have balls of steel. This footage is off the wall. You weren't jk when you said extreme meteorologist. Lol
NEVER stop chasing
WOW will buffalo every want a white christmas again.
I hope the heat and electric are secure, and no one was harmed in this weather event
As a Buffalonian, and going through all of this, it’s now hitting us in the south towns, south of Hamburg.
To answer your question about a white Christmas I personally prefer a green Christmas and especially after the storm, which is still raging.
This is my last winter. I am moving down south this summer and I won’t miss this at all.
Merry Christmas everyone!
We can’t be with our loved ones today because there’s a travel ban so there’s a lot of heartache and as far as answering your question about nobody getting hurt the last time I seen it 7 people were found deceased either frozen In their cars or in snow banks.
So this is just a preliminary number - as time goes on the death toll may rise I’ve been stuck at home now since Thursday, I don’t risk my life or anyone else’s life by going out in this weather to try and drive sadly people did despite the driving ban (which is still in effect) -
and lost their lives. It’s very sad when ppl try and win against Mother Nature.
Not worth it.
My prayers and thoughts go out to the families of the deceased, and if they were alive, I would just wanna ask them. Why why????
You are truly dedicated to Storm Chasing. I get upset when I have to open the Freezer for ice.... I'm a weather wuss.
Wow, thank you for showing this to us! It looks unbelievable!!! Listen to that wind. Stay warm.
That's really amazing. Thanks for showing us this during Christmas. Happy Holidays!
That ice is fascinating. Thank you for the education. I’ve always wondered how such encapsulation forms. But do take care of yourself! I’ve busted my tailbone falling on ice (It still goes numb sometimes!)
It looks like a cave
Do you know why the ice on the surface is forming in circles like that? It’s fascinating!
@@claymonsterpottery I was wondering the same thing. Wish I knew!
Wow! Thank you for the winter tour! We can’t all be there or even go there, but at least you are documenting and sharing the current events with us. I shared your video about 15’ deep snow with several friends. It’s scary what some are enduring there now, being stuck in cars/trucks all night. Thank you for searching for and rescuing those people! You must have saved some lives! Keep up the good work, will be looking forward to more videos, as things recover. Please make more!
I’m super excited
Wow! This was an epic tour! Stay safe! Enjoying this in the comfort of my warm home!
merry christmas!!
I feel for these people living with that bad weather! It's a chilly 70 degrees here in Phoenix
yeah but we will NEVER run out of water., Good luck to you when you do....
I spent 5 years in Scottsdale as a kid many years ago, 70 in Arizona is COLD LOL, I remember a couple days of 114, enjoy your 70 as long as its around. As a comparison I now live in Green Bay WI, yesterday the high was 1 with a wind chill of -23. No matter were you are have a great Xmas and enjoy the weather you have
My daughter moved to Phoenix in September from Erie and she is happy-go-lucky out of the freezer zone !
It is nice here most of the time until the brutal summer comes. Average summer temperature here is 115 degrees and can get to 122 degrees.
Yup moved from Buffalo to Phoenix three years ago
Thank you for showing the beauty of it all.
This looks like something out of the Film The Day After Tomorrow. It’s pretty insane
Jim Cantore ... Move over! Reed is running the show! 🌨❄⛈
May God protect all who are facing this this winter
L 331, hey gang, let's pool our funds and get Reed and Team some decent ice cleats. !! this isn't a one time event, there will be more. We need Reed and Team to stay Safe.
When Antarctica comes to visit. ...
They should film next the same location next weekend.
Treacherous yet beautiful. Thanks Reed.
I thought I knew what I just lived through until I saw his footage. I live by the harbor and I had know idea how horrible it truly was until I watched all his amazing footage!
Excellent coverage. Thanks, Reed. ❤
Incredible footage! Superb work Reed, keep it up!
Keep producing, keep growing, keep expanding…..nature will take back everything.
Thanks for all the reports. AND rescuing! Still buried in the 14212, but I see sparse traffic on Fillmore.
The movie " Day After Tomorrow " is incredible . I've got the DVD and watched it many times . Hard to believe that it's warning is being displayed in Buffalo . If it's happened now it will happen again . If not Buffalo then where next . Thank you Reed for your courage and videos . People need to get prepared for what they never could have imagined . Stay safe everyone and pay attention to warnings . Freezing to death in your own car is awful and for what ?
Great work as always Reed! Stay safe and warm. Happy holidays.
Thanks Reed! You always provides great content!
I'm in canada not too far from Buffalo. My sliding door to my balcony has been frozen shut for 3 days. No matter what I've tried I can't get it open.
Just an update, was able to grab a heat gun from my work and basically melt the door open. But it took a while. Still snowing now but much lighter.
Reed Timmer great videos from floods in southwest to this beautiful scenery. Maybe add some IceBug boots to your go bag.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Prayers to you and those folks in New York and other areas. Be safe.
I thought Reed was heading home? Guess he couldn't get out of here? That sucks he couldn't make it home, but the footage is amazing, and he seems to be having a great time! Gotta love this guy!
I am making it now!
@@ReedTimmerWx Safe travels and thank you for being you! Merry Christmas!!
Please take care!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Your right it does look like the film The Days after tomorrow, alien like , surreal 👍✌
That is absolutely gorgeous!
Just watched "The day after tomorrow" yesterday, now seeing this incredible real footage! Thank you Reed!
Wow fantastic footage of it all, I hope everyone over there are safe and fine. From Australia 🇦🇺🦘🇺🇸
Crazy, amazing footage. Glad you got through the blizzard safely. WARM regards, from sunny Sydney,, Aust.
Brings back memories of Chicago in 70's. Used cross-country skiis to get around in the city for a month.
Does anyone know why the ice on the surface is forming in circles like that? It’s fascinating! Reed you’re a modern day explorer akin to Earnest Shackleton. Living life to the extreme and taking us along for the ride. I admire you.
It’s called pancake ice.
I’ve seen ice on Lake Michigan push itself inland like a growing lava flow in a similar phenomena. The Great Lakes region is fascinating
I’d be more curious if it formed into rectangles
Thank you for sharing, be safe & warm. Merry Christmas 🎄
Hats off to you for making this video. Stay safe
Wow great footage you gave me what I was looking for. Stay safe and healthy Hun
The whole world is with you in the time of this freezing crisis. We can understand this grave situation and pray to Allah to stop this snow and get to normal life as soon as possible.
Wow, Reed that was amazing. Thank you for sharing with us. I live in Kingston, NY & had no idea it was that bad in Buffalo!
Beautiful footage my friend. Merry Christmas!!! 🎄⛄🎶🙏🙏🙏 thank you for sharing
Can't imagine how long it's going to take for that ice to melt!
Major floods coming I would think !
It's supposed to be 50 degrees later in the week
Wish all the best to people enduring this xxx
Thanks for showing us . This is my first time to see it in my whole life .
Beautiful ice build up 👍❄️🥶
A Christmas storm to remember for sure
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE 🙏🏻 🎄☃️❄️🥶🥰🛐
Absolutely beautiful Mother Nature ❗️😍😍💔💔
Reed needed over shoe/boot ice cleats for the walk by the harbor. Thanks for the great vids Reed!
How you didn’t get frostbite is beyond me. 💪
Thank you for showing this !
I see beauty and damage. Those trees, the pier walls, that building, and very importantly - our historic battleships.
Stay safe everyone.
Nature is an incredibly beautiful and powerful thing.
Crazy weather. Stay safe. You sure have witnessed extreme scenes this year
Very impressive nature's creation. Thank you for sharing. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Take care.
Thanks for sharing. Nutty job!
Wow Great footage !! Looks like something out of a movie 😮
That looks unreal! I'm across the river from you but I couldn't get down to the waterfront if I tried. I'm very snowed in! Had a 5 foot snow drift covering my furnace vent that I had to content with every 3 hours for the last 2 days. And now that it's finally stopped snowing and blowing, I have a 4 foot drift surrounding my car in the driveway that needs to be dug out. But that's ok, I get to work off all that stuffing lol
Stay safe and warm neighbour!
The Super Mario ice worlds are looking really realistic these days
Merry Christmas Reed and Gizmo!! 💞🌲💞
amazing, i have never seen such a thing in my life. Thanks for sharing this video, please stay safe👍
Very cool footage stay safe keep up the good work.
Absolutely beautiful Merry Christmas all
