In this previously recorded entry in 'Shadow Moses Cafe' (co-hosted by Jorin Lee of Futurasound Productions'), the gang - alongside special guest star MGS speedrunner and living legend APACHESMASH - discuss the MGS2 character Olga Gurlukovich. It's a deep-dive well worth hearing in full boss!

Hey I loved being on the show, wonderful to see it posted on here. Hope you are well mate :)
I was around 16 yrs old playing first mgs. Never heard of it prior. Rented it and couldn't stop playing it once I started. One of the best game series to ever grace the gamer world.
Hey Joe, Shaine, and apache. Just wanted to say I love all your content, and the podcast is great. Please do more guys!
Olga is a Spetsnaz. Ber father was head of GRU. Within thst unit there is Spetsnaz. In Rusdia Spetsnaz is used for any special forces/operations troops. Moscow police has a Spetsnaz unit that would equate to american SWAT/SRT. Scout Knife with a gun isnt just 007bshit. Spetsnaz /KGB issued and used them back in the Cold War.
This was great, really glad to sit in on you guys
Olga having her child held hostage by the Patriots to ensure her good behavior is also a mirror of The Boss having her child taken from *her* as an infant.
The Boss getting screwed over by the Philosophers is the center of the whole MGS saga, but we only get to see the worst of it as a dull ache, almost 20 years later from the kid, a handful of years after they made her kill her boo. Being so similar to The Boss in temperament, Olga could be a window into how The Boss' trauma looked when it was fresh.
You could argue Venom is in a similar bid himself in MG1 he never lived down the fact that he couldn't save Eli and the other kids and now he is in a position where he has to choose to let david die or betray his comrades...
YOOOO THIS IS GREAT! I wanna join on here one day to talk about all the ghosts & animal possession that is in metal gear. :3
Ah how nice to see another one of these
The True Master of cqc is ocelot the son of the boss and the sorrow put on full display when ocelot Fights snake in MGS 4 when he buries snakes knife into his shoulder in a close quarters combat scenario and also he also disarm him
Late to this, but Shaine mentioned the Gako alarm clock from MGS4? They made those - I have one!
we'll to answer that question - its always gonna be RAIDEN. Ok easy choice you might say...We'll what i want to stress here is -
RAIDEN"S BACKLASH FORMED NEXT 20 years in gaming, solidified GAMERS and their needs by saying what is acceptable, also stopped mainstream gaming as a whole from a) good sequels b) experimentation as a form of quality and love to the medium and the players c)non binary characters (the very basic broad notion of it - not nessesarily 2020 version of it;)
And all of it was started by Kojima himself in MGS3.
What i'm saying is - Raiden is forever the most underrated - its simply because its pivotal character in the history of the medium.
and he shot marvin in the face... just sayin
Not underrated by me i'll tell you that much!
Probably the best character in the whole thing other than Raiden.
Need a solo game with her and #theUnit
Y’all got apachesmash!
Can you do a piece on Portable Ops plz? It is canon to the series too and you haven't mentioned it in any of your essays.
Some of the most interesting characters I enjoy do come from MGS2
Can anyone explain this "cover" with Gackt in correlation with MGS2? @26:18
Is this podcast a new thing?
Need a like counter for whatever her name is. Holy fuck.
