Kim, we are offering both in-person and virtual ScanNCut classes to help you get the most out of your machine. You can find more info on those here www.qualitysewing.com/sewing-classes/scan-and-cut.html
Thank you for the detailed information on what you can do with the scan n cut. Very helpful for a new person just owning the scan n cut. Please keep more info coming for us newbies. Glad you post to you tube. 😀👍🏻
Great demo's I learnt so much. I mainly did card making, also fancy boxes, and a little drawing, but will now have a go at the heated vinyl, as i usually paint on T. shirts. This will be so much easier. May also try fabrics when I next need some applique. I am from UK and have the sdx900.
Great tutorial, oop's I saw that heart on the mat with that permanent sharpie, lol Jejee😂😂, but don't fear use awesome spray on it wait a minute and wipe clean it does not have any alcohol in it, let it dry in like 20 minutes is good to go. I clean my mat all the time with this when it needs cleaning leave it nice and white clean, it still has the stickiness 🥰 works every time as a matter of fact I just cleaned my mat yesterday,
I have a question. I am trying to look into a scan and cut just for card making. What one do you recommend? And can I scan stamps and save them? Thank you.
I like the SNC SDX330D It is WIFI so you can easily send files back and forth to your computer if you like. It also has an autoblade that senses the thickness of the material that is being cut so there is no need to manually set the blade depth. Another feature is that it can cut up to 3mm in thickness, and has an improved scanner for color values over previous machines. For cardmaking and stamping, it works great. You can scan your stamped (or other) images, choose the amount of margin (if any) that is to surround the image and then you can save the cut file for future cuts. It is fantastic
Embrilliance dose have a feature that will allow you to import svg files. Not sure if it will save svg files. Also, this does depend on which level or embrilliance is owned.
If a sewing or quilt shop carries the Brother brand of sewing machines chances are they will also have ScanNCut machines. You can contact quilt shops or sewing stores in your area to see if they carry Brother and have a machine you can test drive.
Do you do special tools to emboss or all is programmed in . I have n’y Scan and cut SDX1000 and I never used it because I do not have a good teacher around and I am in Sydney Australia
There is a special kit for embossing with a ScanNCut. You can find a ScanNCut dealer in your area here www.brother.com.au/en/support/retailer-locations
The ScanNCut machine will cut any brand of vinyl. It even does a great job on the sparkle vinyl from OESD. It is not brand specific, you can cut various materials with your ScanNCut.
The book that Reva shared in this video is actually full of sample projects she created to show all the different things that can be cut with a ScanNCut. Unfortunately it is not something available for purchase.
It really depends on how often you are using them and the materials you are cutting. Like any blade the more it gets used the quicker it will need to be replaced. Typically a blade will last a few months.
Than you for great tutorial! Can you tell me if you have classes on SNC. I have a SDX325 and is also wondering if the is a good step by step manual that I can purchase.
Yes, we do have lots of classes on the ScanNCut. You can find more info on those here www.qualitysewing.com/sewing-classes/scan-and-cut.html There is a ScanNCut Playbook that is made by Brother that you can purchase at your local dealer

One of the big differences is you don't have to purchase so many cartridge's to get your machine to work. Plus, since you can scan images into your machine the possibilities really are endless. If you are debating between the two it would be a good idea to stop by your local retailer to test drive the machines. Using them will really help you get a feel for what you will prefer.
Can I use my Embrilliance software to take a saved pes file and transfer it to a usb to my multi needle machine then have my scan n cut cut the applique out?
Power Tools and Threads utube does videos using her Brother Scan and Cut and she shows how to use her computer and a program to be able to sew in her Brother sewing machine. She does have the Brother Luminaire 2

You could try it. It would need to be stabilized properly and on some type of carrier sheet. We are not sure it will work but you never know unless you try.

What materials will this machine cut?
You can cut cork, foam, fabric, paper. It will cut up to 3MM in thickness.
What did you use to adhere the heat transfer vinyl to the bucket?
We used heat set vinyl and used a heat tool and a hot pad to secure it to the pail.
Do you do special tools to emboss or all is programmed in . I have n’y Scan and cut SDX1000 and I never used it because I do not have a good teacher around and I am in Sydney Australia

Do you have to have a heat press to use scan and cut
You can cut a lot of different materials with a ScanNCut. You would only need an iron or press if using heat-set vinyl.
How do you get the fabric onto the mat?
You place the fabric on the mat and press it down to get it to stick.
What kinds of venal can be used, like the cricket venal when you can’t find scan and cut venal.

Why would I purchase a Scan n Cut rather than a Cricket? I am interested in appliqué and sewing projects… does that make a difference

How did the images get onto the mat?
Are you referring to the image of the paper doll? That was a print out that she secured to the mat to cut out.
