Why is a gallon of milk -$1 cheaper across town at the same retailer? Makes no sense! Why is gas .50 cheaper per gallon at a different location/same brand a mile away?
I've asked that same question and was told prices tend to be higher in more affluent areas. I shop in a multitude of areas and see it all the time. It's RIDICULOUS!!!!!
Dairy prices are always changing. The other store may still have a product that they got at a dollar cheaper and hasn’t turned over yet or it may be vice versa.
@@MR-fn7rw milk at gas station on Hwy 100 is 30% cheaper than milk at same store across town... Check it out... I am shopping the smaller ethnic markets. Their produce is always very good and very well priced. The larger markets are too expensive. We are eating way less meat as well. Making awesome stir fry’s instead. We need to loose some weight so maybe eating less will actually help us out. I feel for families.
I agree. We have a local Asian market and their produce costs a fraction of what it does in the American brand stores. And they all get the produce from the same places.
Where I live Meijer tried to raise their meat prices way way way way beyond reasonable and people just stopped buying meat. Now they been doing buy 1 pack at full price and get another pack of equal or lesser value for $1 because they don't want to try and figure out how to get rid of all the meat when it goes bad and write it off as a waste. Same with a lot of stuff people just stopped buying and the sales became great. For once I didn't feel like i was being ripped off at the store and for a change my dollar equaled what it should. It of course wont last long as corporate greed will rise again.
In Australia an inquiry was made into why groceries were so expensive and heavy fines would be imposed if the two big supermarkets were found guilty of price gouging, that was 12 months ago but prices are still going up and nothing done about it!!! Governments don’t care!!
Green energy and "carbon neutral" schemes are 10x more expensive and when the government mandates their use the cost is passed to the consumer. That is why nothing was done from the investigation.
This has nothing about electing officials this has been the standard practice for business since the 70s after we went off the stander and we gutted all the protection and regulations on companies have been jacking things up steadily for decades.
Not just Tennessee grocery stores. Here in Oklahoma, my grocery bill was $100-150 last year (which is a lot for a fixed income). This year, the amount has leaped to $200-250, for the same items.
I'm in Wisconsin. Milk is around $3.19 a gallon at the Meijer here. I used to save a little buying skim milk because it was always 30 cents cheaper than 2% milk but now they made all the milk the same price. And their sales have gotten ridiculous, making you buy 5 or more of something to get the sale price. I don't need 5 boxes of cereal but thanks.... i used to eat good and only spend about $75 a week. Now i barely eat anymore, i skip dinner most nights because i can't afford to eat 3 meals a day everyday, and I'm still spending about $150 per week. Aldi isn't much cheaper anymore either. You really gotta watch the sales tags at Meijer too. They are constantly leaving old sales tags on the shelves and you don't realize it's not actually on sale till you start checking out. They almost got me with the lemonade last week with a sales tag from over 2 weeks ago. Or stuff just doesn't even ring up with the sales price. You have to take pics of every sales tag cuz the workers will argue with you about the prices not being correct.
Price controls can only lead to shortages. To get lower prices without shortages, we need to increase production. Sadly there are many things going against farmers lately, including overbearing government meddling.

I was told by a grocery store manager who became an RN and no longer worked at store , she had to raise prices a few months before every holiday so that they could put a fake sale on holiday dripping the prices back down.
Like anything else jack the prices up 3 times higher and reap the profits then lower them 33% and your still getting double your profits for your stockholders and CEO's......... While the customers still foot the bill and suffers !!
I found out Greers is adding a 10 percent charge on my groceries after the bill is caculated. I stopped shopping there. That is $400.00 a month that now goes to Walmart.
I spoke with a beatable produce salesman who worked for United salad on west coast and he said that the wholesale company started getting vegetables from Canada because they were cheaper and a restaurant chef said he was paying more for produce from United salad since they started getting them from Canada , so they raised prices even though they were getting the produce cheaper. Really unethical even to leave out local farmers all the way.
i went to walmart last week. i got only 5 bags. and i did NOT buy any meat nor any vegis fresh or frozen. and no produce. i have no clue what i bought. but walmart in our area of central florida is higher than our reg supermarket. its just sinful. just sinful. i am looking at videos of making meals that can be leftovers for several days. and no processed foods either. im trying to have healthy food or as much as possible. the prices t just sinful. we r def in the last days. a days wage for a loaf of bread.

Thank God he watches over us and meets our needs, our faith in him keeps us alive and going. Our hearts goes out to those in need
Look into boost mobile for phone. I’ve paid $30/mo for unlimited everything (i think there might be a cap on data but I’ve literally never reached it) for so many years now.
Corporate greed
It seems if the profit margins increases more than the prices increase then there’s a problem.
The store can charge whatever it wants. You don't like it, move to a communist country where the dictator sets the prices on all the items.
“Only buy stuff that’s on sale”, is a smart move.
Problem Action Solution!!! they cause our problems, then go into action as if their not the ones who caused the problem, then come up with a solution that they caused in the first place!!
You just described the Bidumb Administration baby!
Should be investigating this Administration. Bring oil prices down everything else goes down!!! It starts with the farmer he's got to buy that gas too!!!
The crazy Republicans in Louisiana and Texas are praying for oil prices to increase so that they'll have job security and make more money. So tell me, which are you blaming Biden for... Hi or low oil prices?
the last administration sent me a check for $900,000.00, current administration sent me $00.00- ????????? hell yea, bring back trump- dopes
Oil is at only $79/barrel which is exactly the same as 2018 when Trump was president.
It was much less, and we were buying much less because we were drilling our own. Nice try though.
@@tringuyen7519Biden is purchasing dirty oil from Venezuela & the U.S. Oil Reserve for lower cost of Oil during Presidential Campaign. And, if Weird Waltz & Kamala win Oil will skyrocket!!!!
The Inflation Reduction Act is a bust.
These fools have no idea their own Democratic government caused most of this inflation by money printing.
Inflation and current prices are not related. When inflation gets back to 2% that just means prices aren’t going up as fast. Lower inflation doesn’t mean prices go down.
Inflation is why current prices are so high. Elections have consequences. Vote for the person who had prices down, inflation down, and taxes down.
@cordeliabuffy6419 agreed, 100%. I think everyone understands a little bit of inflation is expected every year, that's normal but the inflation of the past 4 years has been back breaking. Everyone is noticing it. I'm paying $10 bucks for eggs and $7 for a loaf of bread.
So nobody remembers when after the stimulus checks went out things immediately went up? Oh, selective memory. When it happens under the Trump administration, that is different right? 🙄🙄🙄
They need to investigate food lion. They always have thouse bogo and 2 for whatever signs up. And half the time it's not bogo or whatever. Then when you catch them. They act like they forgot to take the sign down.
The whole bongo phenomenon is out of control. Also, I think they encourage people to buy more crap none of us need like soft beverages, etc. I'm happy with a single 8 or 12 pack of unsweetened sparkling water--I'm not shopping for a party.
Report them to the better business bureau for deceptive practices…I once reported a store that would advertise sales, you get there the moment the store opened, they didn’t have any of the sale items; they would just hand out rain checks! After weeks of this happening, I finally reported them to the better business bureau. Once they were reported, they changed their tactics. But, I just stopped shopping there on general principles!
Dollar general does this as well.
Amazon does it with prime day. Most of the year those items are at what they call a sale price. On prime day they mark up the regular price and have the "sale" price it's normal price. People fall for it each year.
@@ungrateful-66 100% it puts people in a position to encourage buying more. I can't stand it. Along with having to let them scan my foodlion card to get a " discount ". So I pay more if I don't have a card you can scan?
Less grocery chains-----> higher prices.
Here in Michigan too it's getting out of control.
And we wonder why people stealing
About time. I knew when we got the stimulus checks things would go up and not go down. "They" (government and corporate America will NEVER let people actually get ahead.
My Aldi has been hiking prices like crazzzy this year, 3 yrs ago the price stayed steady forever. Just in a couple months olive oil went from 3 to 6 and now it’s at 8 dollars. It’s going nuttts. 😩
Check the prices farmers and ranchers are being charged. Energy, fertilizer, water, labor, government regulation, property taxes, insurance. Not to mention weather. Better to look at the cause of the decline in value of your dollar before chasing destractions and excuses.
it's excuses cuz they are covering up that I flation 2as caused by government over printing money and its an election year. better hide it! now bidens out they might admit the economy sucks
Yeah farmers are quiting and going to work at grocery stores cause they at least get a $20 an hour min wage at the store.
Democrats using our tax dollars to try to bs us.
The grocery company that I work for has reported record profits every year.
That's good. It means their business model is working as planned. Even if you own a lawn mowing business you want record profits each year. Grocery stores are not a welfare program, yet.
@@twinnevans971 the state has the welfare people covered.
In TN our grocery stores and fast food stores are not reflecting true values. They are raking in profits while people, the young and fixed income seniors are suffering and making life affecting choices. Shame on these franchises. Buy a freezer. Join Sams and Costco. Buy a foodsaver. Buy in bulk, portion, food save, and freeze. Plant a garden. Harvest, process, and can/freeze. It helps A LOT.
Canada has this problem, too!
Then Biden must be your President too since it’s all his fault. 😂😂😂
yes please force them 2 lower all products by 33% which is what walmart increased half its products its not 12% its 33%
Are you kidding me? It's called "price gouging"! And it's happening with everything. Food, rent, gas and utilities, childcare, doctor visits and hospital stays. And there's no relief from it.
…the FTC exists to investigate and punish price gouging and monopolization.
It's not price gouging. It's the result of the 2020 election. Vote smarter this time.

Better pay your bills first unless you don't mind becoming homeless!
@francespelletier175 Oh, I am, but I literally have less than $75 to feed myself for the month so that like nothing nowadays, especially when oatmeal (which used to be cheap) is $8 a container, and eggs are through the roof not to mention milk and such... even beans and rice is expensive

I just could not handle the mosquitoes, rattlesnakes, and weirdo's out there! I've lived in Florida on and off most of my life and can't understand why I keep coming back here cause I have never liked living here! I can't handle the constant mugginess and constant fear of what kind of destruction the next hurricane will cause. I use to live in what seemed to be a little ghost town in Kentucky years ago when I was married. I liked it there because people didn't even lock their doors! It was totally different from Florida. The men would go out hunting for deer and drag them back home and hang them upsidedown from a tree in their front yard! Me being a city girl I thought to myself, what the hell! They would pack their freezers with all that deer. They also would go out hunting for frogs, turtles and lots of fish. Prices are ridiculous! I can't even buy meat because for the same price I can buy more soup and cereal.
Sometimes I say gonna buy a cow, pig, and chickens.
Cereal?? I can’t buy cereal unless there’s a BOGO sale. It’s $5 for a small box , over $6 for medium & at least $8 for large. Smdh!
I suggest everyone by private brand cereal. Now days it’s often better than the big names! Just try it once and see what you like and what you don’t. Always buy private brand canned vegetables. They are the exact same. They are just putting different labels on them! I work in the industry and familiar with this.
Monopoly price manipulation.
Dairy prices are always changing. The other store may still have a product that they got at a dollar cheaper and hasn’t turned over yet or it may be vice versa.
@@MR-fn7rw milk at gas station on Hwy 100 is 30% cheaper than milk at same store across town... Check it out... Lower income neighborhoods have higher grocery prices because of price gouging SNAP benefits. Most affluent people never realize this because they never shop in "those" neighborhoods, but it's been like that for years.
Greedflation! Companies are bringing in major profits, of course they are inflating prices!
Bidenflation
Notice that nothing is worth .01¢ anymore
How about 10 cents
Where I live Meijer tried to raise their meat prices way way way way beyond reasonable and people just stopped buying meat. Now they been doing buy 1 pack at full price and get another pack of equal or lesser value for $1 because they don't want to try and figure out how to get rid of all the meat when it goes bad and write it off as a waste. Same with a lot of stuff people just stopped buying and the sales became great. For once I didn't feel like i was being ripped off at the store and for a change my dollar equaled what it should. It of course wont last long as corporate greed will rise again.
I would be careful about those packages of bundled meat .. its usually meat that is about to go bad ...
American Voted for this!

They actually didn’t..
Yep, Republicans are all about corporate greed, and that is what this is. Companies are making record profits.
It's getting apocalyptic
No we did not.

I came here to check the comments. I wasn't disappointed. 😆
Investigate all you want but unless something gets done…

It's a shame that President Biden doesn't have the power to impose price caps through executive order...
Price caps make things worse

I found out Greers is adding a 10 percent charge on my groceries after the bill is caculated. I stopped shopping there. That is $400.00 a month that now goes to Walmart.

I spoke with a beatable produce salesman who worked for United salad on west coast and he said that the wholesale company started getting vegetables from Canada because they were cheaper and a restaurant chef said he was paying more for produce from United salad since they started getting them from Canada , so they raised prices even though they were getting the produce cheaper.
