- Many rough sleepers claim that they feel safer on the streets than they do inside hostels. As many are habitats for people within the grip of addiction. But what is life really like, inside one of the hostels, commonly known as “junkie central”

I was in a homeless hostel ten years ago, abusing various substances, didn't have a pot to piss in. Looked around the place and saw all this despair and destitution but none of them was making any attempt to get their acts together. Realised I was better than that and worked my bones off to pull myself out of that situation. Got my own place now, a well paid job, good friends, books etc. Got everything a man can want for a comfortable existence because I realised I was better than what I was and worked my way out of that. These people can too but they're more interested in getting a hit or a special brew. Hard truth but until they help themselves they will die in this state.

What a sad state to live in, addiction has many victims unfortunately, this is more of a room rental / HMO rather than a hostel though.
I remember both of these two from way back in the prison system unfortunately Heroin played a massive part of the spiral of a lot of good people when it landed in the early 80s, addiction is frowned upon by the ignorant, addiction is exactly what it says ( Addiction) keep up the good work fella 👍

😢 My baby brother past away at lower break road 2011. I was in Mr Berkley sister hostel high park. Add say both. Serve a service in the local area. addiction when hits is slow progresive. Me been in recovery since 2004. I got the right info while sitting in HMP on off since a child. Today am grandaddy x6 I am grateful for the life I have today. Let's say been journey.

Been there for years that place
I've been in some of these hostels in Liverpool...not this one but the ones I have been (Prinny Ave, Kenny) are fkng hell holes and health and safety NIGHTMARES.
Amount money these hostels make disgusting like prison's
There not ment to be luxury b hotels
That place my grandad once ran the place his name was James Higgis he’s no longer with us but I remember the place he had in there

OMG l could nt think of anything worse. I am so glade l went to University. I ha e a beautiful self standing unit brand new. And my beautiful furniture pain t ings and porcelain collection . These things make life much .or comfortable.

Guy in the wheelchair wasn’t he on skint in the early 2000 program he had a mrs and kids and had a stroke while one of the episodes was being shown

Can lock yourself away but you never know when that doors getting put in.
