Greg Gumbel=the legend who never gets the respect he deserves. This music gets me into my Don Criqui impression really well. Another legend of Greg's caliber.
Greg is 1 of my favorites commentators along with Gus Johnson (who's also black & works 4 Fox Sports & had also worked 4 CBS) as well 😁.
Man the legend doesn't seem to age
CBS broadcasts took a HUGE step down when the replaced Gumbel with Nantz
Cowboys vs Niners. Enough said!
Don Criqui was the best
This theme brings tears of nostalgia to my eyes.
You’re not alone 🙂
Man, Doc Emrick and Hank Stram. What a broadcast team. Just before I started watching football so I would have never imagined that. I love the hidden gems in here
Long live John & Pat in our hearts and minds.
That 2002 version is undefeated!
We need a full clean version of the NFL on CBS 2001-02 version so bad! Hopefully, somebody with connections to the CBS Sports theme music library can get this theme on RUclips for us.
Holy cow, I didn’t know Doc Emrick called NFL games!
This theme + Fred Melamed's voice on the billboards = perfection.

ENDING BUMPER:
Thank you for watching this presentation of the National Football League. From CBS Sports.
HOME OF SUPER BOWL XXXV!!!
I am happy that CBS got the NFL AFC package in 1998.
It got AFC at the moment it became the leading conference in the league. It still remains the dominant force.
AFC has definitely been the better conference since the early 2000's
I used to love to sleep until 12 and wake up to this theme.
I would literally pay pay-per-view money to watch an NFL game with Kevin Harlan and Gus Johnson on the same call
We need the full version of the 2001-02 theme!
this video features the primes of the cowboys and 49ers dominance of the 90s and also the beginning of the patriots dominance of the 2000s
I wish cbs kept this
6:57 is my favorite part
NFL on CBS in 1998 rocks
YES!!! YES!!! YES!!! Personally my best year EVER!!! I was just 14 at that time!
That's be nice if this theme should be the nfl playoffs on CBS.
cbs shouldn't have got rid of this amazing theme apparently they forgot the saying if it ain't broke dont fix it
Blobulous You're right kind of like how Fox has kept it the same for 25 years.
@@peterblue2708 The FOX NFL theme song was so good that they decided to make it the main theme of much of FOX's sports coverage.
I hope they at least do like a throwback broadcast at some point using this theme
They should do it niners vs cowboys
not really
Had no idea Mike “Doc” Emerick called games for NFL on CBS.
Missing Pat and John on a day like today!!
Never realized how MIDI-ed out the 1998 version of the theme was. Sounds like it straight up came off a Yamaha.
These themes must cause Jets fans PTSD.
These themes make this raiders fan happy 😊
4:54 hits different
We will be having a 1998 NFL on CBS only Theme Video Montage coming during Pro Bowl Week

Here it is
Thanks to the NFL, they had the 1998 Video Theme Montage removed from RUclips but I will make another with just pictures only soon.
Here's the new 1998 NFL on CBS Theme Video Montage, the other one has been deleted- ruclips.net/video/RWfl4bUkZCU/видео.html
I wish they'd go back to this... Maybe even just a few game intros for nostalgia's sake!
0:56 Doc Emrick used to call football games?
Your eyes are NOT fooling you. That is INDEED Mike "Doc" Emrick.
@@davidmatthewvinotjr8396 He just announced his retirement. Excellent hockey voice.
Yes he did...even though was longtime NJ Devils announcer, I don’t believe he called a nationally-televised NHL game until the NHL on FOX (1995-‘99). Was at NBC from 2006-20.
@@CatholicTraditional Doc Emrick was the lead play-by-play announcer for ESPN (working alongside Bill Clement), when they had the NHL package in the late 1980s.
@TMC1982Part2 wish I was alive back then to hear that announcing team
Bonnie Bernstein was 🔥 back in the day.😋
I like the current NFL ON CBS theme, but I like this better.
Oh no! There current theme suck-lol.
I remember hearing a bird in the beginning in my reality
William Grantham's Streak Win! Unbelievable!
The great Cowboys vs 49ers rivalry during the 90’s!
Nfl on cbs theme 1992-2003
I forgot Doc did football!
I never knew he called football period
CBS needs to get Trevor Rabin to do a remake of this for next season.
Nah man, LOL- bring back the "pots and pans" (late '80's)Theme!!
Greg Gumbel's voice goes with this song
Doc Emrick did NFL games?!?!?!?!
Yuuuuppppp!
William Grantham's Streak Win WrestleMania!
1992-1993 and 1998-2002.
1:32 Sunday January 17 1993 49ers fans emptying out of Candlestick Park
Back when you didn't have to listen to Tony Romo
I'd take Romo over Phil Simms any day. Simms is one of those guys who could talk all day but not say anything.
cbs should get the nfc package back and nbc should get the afc package back
This theme reminds me of the Raiders resurgence in the late 90’s into the early 2000’s
The original is the best, the rest are mere imitations...
WHO WAS THAT BEAUTIFUL LADY ON 5:09?
That's Bonnie Bernstein she was on CBS when they returned in 1998
The new one fucking sucks compared to this
