@@walterwhite1 When COVID hit, the theme was retired for a second time. Social distancing protocols limiting fans in stadiums or closing stadiums to fans made the lyrics to the song no longer make any sense.

Facts. As a black man I looked forward to watching Monday Night Football just to hear Hank Williams intro as well. It pumped me up and got me ready for another great Monday football and WWE wrestling too. ESPN turned political after Former President Obama went into office. I was so pissed that they fired him for having an opinion right or wrong.

There’s no way most guys are flipping the channel to another program. The clever executives at ABC knew exactly what they were doing when they crafted this program introduction, and that’s why it is a classic.
In a world of television remote control clickers, the producers knew they only had the first thirty seconds to convince the viewers that this was the program they ought to watch - and it most cases, it probably worked. Anyone out there studying television production needs to analyze the success of the Monday Night Football opening sequence. It’s masterful and dynamic.

Hank Jr. had the best theme song for MNF by far. Since then nobody has come close. Been a football fan for 60 yrs and I'd never thought I'd say this BUT I'm not such a fan anymore since the P.C. crowd has taken it over.

I went to this game. I was 16 years old and me and my best friend from high school somehow managed to get 2 free tickets, spare of the moment. I remember cruising down interstate 80 and I was super jacked showing my 49er hat to people as we passed by. One guy flipped his hat around and showed me his Vikings hat. It was a great game. I’ll never forget it.
