With 92 hours in GZW it is absolutely bussin, for an Alpha state it's been pretty good. Running a 2080s it is considered a budget PC right now. But does that mean it shouldnt run good? No. It's in an Alpha state. Once the game is optimized and they get things worked out, it's going to be absolutely GOLDEN. S tier if you will. If what we have now came from a company that mainly built mobile games this is insane with the quality the game has. I am running GZW on a 4070tis, R9 5900x with FSR on frame gen and Balanced, with the most important setting on high I am getting anywhere between 120-170 frames depending on locations and the amount of AI that is in the area. For example, Fort Narith I get a smooth 120 frames. Madfinger being able to release a game, make patches to fix crashes and further better stability is crazy to me. This gives me infant state of Helldivers vibes where the devs are just cranking out Ws left and right, and I hope the devs keep doing good and not pull a nerf wave to weapons like Arrowhead. Pros: It's very fun, the task progression isn't easy but it's also not hard, could it be better? Absolutely, like a multistep task that doesn't require you to go back to FOB each time. That would be excellent. The weapons feel REALLLYYY good. The zeroing mechanic is such a fantastic element and is fun to get used to and hella satisfying to lead one shot headshot an AI. The health system is complex but inviting giving you a sense of strategy to where you're not rushing into objectives blindly. It offers a cool mechanic to heal teammates and pull them from a coma. Was it daunting? Oh for sure but it got easy after learning which item is used best for each wound type. The armor is great, could use some more variety but if you understand the NIJ scale you'll get used to it pretty quick. The customization for the weapons is crazy and you can feel the changes in real time. The storage is lacking if you didn't buy the supporter edition, but it is manageable if you know how. Cons: We'll just address the elephant in the room. The AI in this game is not for the faint of heart. You will die, a lot. You will get shit, a lot. The AI(especially in teir 3 areas) is absolutely CRACKED. Right now AI can one tap you from 300m with an iron sight AK or Mosin no problem. But I'm the other hand you can't do the same unless you zero or take your time firing. My biggest complaint so far with the AI is the amount of rounds they can take. It doesn't happen all the time but it is frustrating to drop 20 rounds in an unarmored AI just to have them 3 shot you. But the devs are looking into fixing this issue. The "Request denied all available birds are in the air".. ooooofff the dreadful call INS for the helps, it is frustrating to have to wait for an available bird to come pick you up. They need to add at least maybe two more helps per faction so me and my buddies don't have to wait an hour to extract. Shotguns and pistols are essentially useless. If you're not running M855 or M855AI rounds, your essentially shooting bbs. I'm excited to see where this game goes and the awesome content and new weapons we get! I've been having absolute blast with Gray Zone Warfare.
First, W comment. And I agree I think as time goes on it’s only going to continue to grow and get better. IMO the foundation is 100% there and with added content (most excited for ground zero) I think the game will flourish. I don’t really consider 20 series PC’s budget yet. There are thousands of players in their Twitter feeds complaining about their 10 series PCs that can still run other games on low settings. I get your point but can def tell the games optimization isn’t where it needs to be yet and shouldn’t bottle neck your play base into buying a 30/40 series to play your game. Overall agree with you tho. Great feedback. 🫡
@@chadrails Absolutely! The 2080s and 2080ti should at least run the game smooth with more fps that what you got. Especially since my buddy can run Helldivers on high and get steady 80 frames. I did find out that the AI can cause a drop in frames due to your CPU processing those rather than your GPU. Once they get optimization down and a few other things, I think it'd be a top contender for game of the year!
Just finished trying out arena breakout, and after playing a while of both, I'll say i prefer grayzones map, atmosphere, and the pvp is so much better in grayzone. Ill give arena the better optimization. Definitely runs smooth and better then grayzone but gameplay wise gray zone is above.
I would say both are different with gzw being a milsim with tarkov/extraction shooter elements whereas ABI is straight up tarkov lite. But I prefer GZW over the latter anytime
"So I gave em my money" lol - I played the standard edition for a day before I realized how amazing GZW is in its current state and immediately bought the supporter paack after that. I have a pretty good rig that's a couple of years old, 3080ti gpu - just a prebuilt Alienware aurora, and the game can only get 90+ FPS if I run everything on low. Most intense pc usage game I've ever played but I halso haven't had this much fun with a game in a long long time.
Love to hear it bro. I think with some content updates in the next few months and optimizations we really have a winner bc I agree the fights you get into and exploration is incredibly unmatched and haven’t felt that way in a LOOONG time
2080 is rough for unreal engine 5. My 1500 budget laptop from last year with a 3080ti and 12900hk runs it good enough on low. Going to build a desktop once 5080s are out then gray zone should run good on high
I wont get GZW until performance is much better. No reason at all the game should run the way it does. Arena would take over Tarkov if they made the game cost money and not do a free to play model. the P2W will kill Arena it's a bad mistake if they go that route.
Still Arena Breakout Infinite, looks more like a mobile game then a PC game and GZW look really nice but for me it has too much bugs. and some of those bug will ruin the whole experience like "online persistence error (0x00040008)" which will make you unable to play GZW. So I think it will be better if you wait little long.
2 very different styles games…. One is better at what’s it’s going for and the other vice versa, that’s like comparing how snacks taste verse vegetables
Solid reviews - thanks! I have purchased gray zone standard edition and it is buggy as hell - BUT, its got a lower entry point than Tarkov. I am hopeful for Arena Breakout Infinite and looking forward to its drop on steam. QUESTION: Will Arena Breakout Infinite have a PVE only mode like Gray Zone?
Gray Zone runs at like 160 fps for me and still looks good. FSR/Texture quality high/Foliage quality high. Almost everything else low or medium and your fps will be way better
GZW is defiantely something to keep an eye out for, Content wise its still not there and they have stated that, which i'm fine with and looking forward to what will happen down the track. For me right now, huge misses are the AI in some areas which straight up have aim bot, the LZ feel like they are extremly camped (even if its intended and you're waiting for your chooper and another factiona comes in), lack of guns (which there will be more of in the future), l want to see some better loot yo make money with ans the FOB seem truly lacking, they don't have much in there. would be nice to see them be actully different from other factoons and corrospond with their design in terms of the initiative they have on the island. Also, they need to make people travel the island more on foot, me and friend did it and it was enjoyable, would be nice to see things happending in the jungle. If you are willing to look over it downsides for a while and want a new experience, its really fun ABI is in a weird place, i originally come from a mobile gaming scene so to me it feels like a port even if they say it isn't. the clunky animations for player and ai, audio that is off putting from what you see(for example, someone running in terms of audio spunds like they are running faster slightly from what you see), and loot wise, Yeh that was staight up ripped out from tarkov, didnt even bother changing the loot table or anything. If you looking into checking out a f2p extraction shooter, then this is that aimilar to tarkov ans does have a lot of qol features that tarkov could do good with. I think in the end it will go down the track of p2w (I have seen the q&a with landmark) and i dont trust or believe in it so much until i see it as its a chinease tencent game, and they are notorious for having insane amount of microtransactions
You can't even compare them both. Visuals in GZW is absolutely stunning and it should be that way for a UE5 game, as the game is in early stages the bugs, optimization and crashes is a issue but even with those you can't compare it to Arena breakout because GZW is better in every aspect.
Gray zone hasnt full released, its an early access alpha game. Buying it now means you acknowledge there are still bugs but you want to support the game and development.
