The game Marta and Harlan play is Go, the East Asian equivalent of Chess. It has the reputation of being the most complex game to win. Whilst Computers have been winning Chess games for decades, it was only in 2016 that a super computer beat a Go Master. I came so close to getting this one right when I first saw it. It was a reverse of the famous Sherlock Holmes line of the dog in the night time. In this case the dogs barked, ergo X did it. By the time the finale arrived I had talked myself out of it, because similarly to you I liked him. Then his devious plot was revealed and I was kicking myself. The sequel Glass Onion is not quite as good, but still well worth watching. Rian Johnson has a contract with Netflix to do at least one more. It's supposedly out at the end of 2025.
