Great Job Mike! Few things are more satisfying to me, then new carpet, and gluing down the stuff.. looks great, and sewing it yourself, is courageous!.. :) can’t wait to see the 54 out and about!. Fantastic car, and great color combo!. Striking …:) 👍
Looking good. My 54 is ready for paint. I'm doing stratto silver in matte finish. We will see. Lol When I get her rolling good I want to bring it to a little ca show. You know weekly stuff.
I had a 1941 Pontiac Tudor Coach back in the day, Beautiful 2 tone gray paint..nice chrome... I found a 6' x 6' piece of gray square weave carpet at Walmart for under $20. I removed all the binding, and dabbed new mats front and rear. I cut out around all the pedals, and sewed the binding back around all the edges. It came out great. So glad there are hobby people out there who are less interested in money, than helping others in need. ... Glad to see videos on your Oval. It's just Fantastic!!
My late father was Volkswagen mechanic at Volkswagen dealership and service manager from fifties to December of 1969 hhen the starter drags like that it uslllthe starter bushing on the transmission I changed the starter on my 1966 with rebuilt one but still drag when starting he told me to change the bushing in the bell housing & fixed the problem.
Awesome carpet install Mike ! I like the color too. I have to be honest, I'd rather use a Skilsaw with the guard pinned back than use a sewing machine. The thought of my finger getting stabbed by the sewing needle is too much to take !!
If you want to get the original starter working good again, i would check the contacts in your starter solonoid. Dirty/corroded contacts cause a high resistance connection which would cause a voltage drop before it gets to the starter. The voltage drop would cause the starter to require more current to do the same function. It's ironic that your last video was about contact grease.
The Wolfsburg West (WW)carpet kit includes the sides, front section with mat sewn in, rear wheel wells and rear section. Mats are separate. I bought it years ago and had then shipped to Australia, cost me close to 1.5k. AUD. BTW they don't have carpet under the seat, you just see the metal floor. You can buy the rubber snaps through WW.
You're the bees knees Gonzalo! Thanks for providing Mike with the carpets to get this old girl back on the road!
lol Thanks
It has been awesome to witness the transformation in this car; from junk to treasure!
Gonzalo.
Sorry if spelled wrong. You rock!
Thanks!!

What type of distributor do you recommend, and what is the difference between 110 and 120 cam?
slightly more lift and slightly more duration Lift 110 = 430 120 = 435 Duration 110=283 120=297......
@Mikefngarage Thank you. Any recommendations on the distributor for a 74 beetle other than a 009?
