thank you .....haha, without his youth and energy I think I would of just taken a nap and drove home after seeing the pond, mud and it buried in there .
Dear Lennert v. W. 👍👌👏 Same here, definitely! I hope that they will rescue the other bugs, especially the convertible, and the split window bus too. Best regards, luck and health.
When I was 6 years old, dad rolled a brand new ‘55 VW Beetle unto our driveway, tan, with the oval window and funny blinkers, that were disabled but still installed, and rag top sun roof. I remember fondly many day trips in that car, all the sounds, smells, of that wonderful ride and I wish you the best of luck in restoring this beauty! Please keep us posted on this project. What a find!
The banter back and forth between these two guys is great. I'm glad they didn't edit it out. Having done similar vehicle rescues, I can relate to the conversations.
Same here Bro. I'm 75. I remember the day he found an aluminum Crosley 4 cyl eng. Lotta talking and deciding before he had to shell out $5.00. Bless him.
Dang man , this is inspiring for America. I am use to this in my area of Tennessee. But I cannot tell you how happy it is to see some remaining necks in New York. I wish you could do some more videos on the old girl.
The best part of youtube is to see videos like this, where joung people save and take care of those cars that were left to rust and rotten to the root.
Greetings , thank you , we are pulling the white vert tomorrow . I do not know the price , I do not know the condition , I never looked inside it , or under it , or checked for an engine . Should be fun Ghia Junkie , fingers crossed haha !
The footage of the Bug on the trailer when you drive through the junkyard is kinda touching. There is something special about these old cars, that only a select few people really seem to get. Great find and fantastic video!
You two are noblemen of nature, to rescue this, a classic Vee-Dub out of a 54 year gravesite. Even if you decline going the distance, and restoring it port, starboard, bow to stern, and just get it up to a great driver, it'll be one mighty testament to your nobility!
If a guy does the majority of the work himself, the bill won't be that bad. But, if he needs to send the bug out for everything, yes it is going to cost some big bucks.
Headlights intact. Taillights intact. Very nice. Being buried in scrub probably helped preserve a lot of parts that otherwise might have been picked off over the decades.
Great save guys! These old classic VW's are getting harder to find in junkyards anymore, especially an oval window! Let's hope who takes ownership of it brings it back to the road!
Hey Jason, great score for your "young" friend there, it would be a rare and interesting Resto. Great entertaining rescue, "rescuing every VW Bug ever landed in the U.S.A, one at a time", a noble quest...
The fact that you guys even got that Beetle outta that dump is incredible. I don’t understand how you can make any money restoring it, but I hope you do!!! Reward for the effort.
thank you Tommy, all I can say is it's a good thing Kevin was there haha. My friend Larry has the car and will restore it , he does some amazing stuff...you didn't even see the bad of this 55, it's BAD...A pillar pushed into dash and about zero rockers left, no pans ...
Wow Great Find! 👍 That’s a big size junkyard and I can see in the background that there’s two other VW’S over there, the blue one and the white convertible. They need rescued also. 👀
Some kinda fun there. Looks like it might be a 1954. Eggs taillights, looks like semaphores, no bullet signals in the front fenders, euro bumpers-no overriders, no pea shooter notches in the rear apron. I'm putting my 55 back together right now and have gotten an education in Oval parts trying to get the right pieces. What a find and rescue. I'll be watching this one. Thanks for sharing.
That was in comparison with some of your extractions Jason it went pretty well. Good rescue all there is now is time and money to bring it back to life. 🙂👍
hey Will , yeah once the drums freed up it was all good ...obviously having Kevin on hand made it seem ez . Yes, lot's of $ but it should be a matching #'s car and possibly org engine so it is worthy ....to some... ..and was definitely saved from the Samba sawzall parts dismantlers !!!!
I lived on Kauai in 85'-86'. And went to several of the other islands....veewees were very popular...there were some really hip and cool bugs and vans...I fell in love with them...I also spent alot of time in Mexico and Argentina..veewees everywhere... rock on
please keep us posted with updates, I would love to see how the restoration of that beauty turns out, that Beetle is one of my favorite models..good luck!
A 55 "oval". Got its name from the rear window. Rare as hen's teeth. Worked on restoring one back in the 1990s. Great car, simple, all mirtrors and strings! Rarest part is the chrome hubcaps. Apart from all the kerb damage veedub heads turned them into clocks! Good luck with the project!
Good find, guys and good luck with the restoration. I noticed there was a Ford Cortina in front of it (next to the Jeep). Not sure if it was salvageable, but they're pretty rare now.
If that bug was sitting there since 1969, that means it’s sitting there just about as long as I’m alive because I was born in August of 1969. We’re like kindred spirits! Another great old bug saved from a miserable death!
Dear 5150mxVW and friend. 👍👌👏 Simply fantastic! A very impressive rescue for only 4 hours work. I hope that we will soon see more of this old bug. Maybe even a carefully dented out front hood? ;-) Unfortunately the oil cap was missing. If not I would have guessed that there will be a "will it run" video. 2) I hope that you two will rescue the other bugs, especially the convertible, and the split window bus too. As always Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health to all of you.
Hi CC , having Kevin there made it so much easier ....more on this 55 for sure . I was surprised the oil cap was missing and not the air cleaner ? I probably won't attempt a will it run even if it's unstuck / or I get it unstuck to protect the case .It could be the org case and matching #'s engine . The plan is to go back for the others so we shall see . Thank you for the great comments , best regards to you as well .
Binge watching your video's ; at 6:25, Kevin says " We should be able to bang the hubs loose and roll it out" --Your response is Gold!
thank you .....haha, without his youth and energy I think I would of just taken a nap and drove home after seeing the pond, mud and it buried in there .
You have no idea how fast i clicked when i got this notification. An oval bug being saved from the scrapyard is worth a watch 👍👍

Agreed! And, how many vintage v.w.s are we losing to scrap yards, etc? :(

Watching this takes me way back to the days of junkyarding on Saturday's with my dad growing up. Used to see tons of Beetles as I walked around.
Nice 😁
Same here Bro. I'm 75. I remember the day he found an aluminum Crosley 4 cyl eng. Lotta talking and deciding before he had to shell out $5.00. Bless him.
Y'all this was an incredible watch. Honestly can't believe how resilient it is for having sat there since '69.
thank you Samuel
I haven't cried this hard since my first child was born! She is so cute!
I dated a girl who’s mom had a ‘47 beetle she brought back with her from Germany. She was still driving it in ‘75.
me too
Great Job!! Oval VW back to life soon. Regards from Europe Barcelona Spain

Great job getting that out. You have gotten lots better at this. Going to need deep pockets to afford to fix that one up.

What a beautiful Volkswagen Käfer
👍
That Bug looks happy to get out of the junkyard!
Go ahead and get the convertible as well and I want the roll bars off the YJ Jeep :)
Brings back fond memories...I bought a '55 VW new with a sun roof in strato-silver (blue) color.
Hi Jack, wow, what a car ! Strato silver is one of my favorite colors. I have a 55 in strato silver but it's a hard top.
So cool that there are still some rare beauties out there waiting!
yes , they are still out there👍
