Family just wanted to share some insight. I’ve found a way to decrease the pain. 1. Lose weight. Every pound adds 4 pounds of pressure on spine. 2. Change diet. I do 16/8 fasting and occasional 24 hour fasts. I also eat a lot of anti inflammatory foods and teas. Cut out processed foods completely. Multi vitamins every lunch. 3. Walk A LOT. About 5 miles per day broken up throughout the day. Avg 100 miles per month. 4. Core strength is a must and a lifetime commitment. 5: no meds. They stop the healing process. Haven’t needed them actually. 6. Lower stress. 7. Find what triggers your pain/muscle tightness. For me it’s sitting. I avoid it like a plague. I’ve done all this and my inflammation and nerve pain are completely gone. The only thing that is bothering me right now is muscle tightness and mobility. I’m committed to beating this. There’s no way there’s people out there with worse backs and no pain. Ask questions if you have any!
These, and similar exercises, worked temporarily (3 Yrs) in helping me with severe lumbar stenosis, and spondylolisthesis, but in the end, 4 mos ago, I opted for L4, L5 fusion by a neurosurgeon. It was a tremendous success for me. But much thanks to Bob and Brad for their numerous and helpful, video's.
Bob and Brad, please address stomach gripping/hour glass syndrome. I’m 65 and have stomach gripped all day as long as I can remember. I now know how it has affected every aspect of my trunk physically - my walking gait, my hips, glutes, my back, my core, my standing, my sitting, my weight lifting - I’m in the process of retraining my abs properly having to retrain my glutes, quads, hams, back, my walking gait, my standing posture - so much but seeing incredible progress in my pain and mobility that I thought was JUST my spondy. Awakening improperly used muscles that have been compensating all these years has been a painful challenging process but I’m seeing great results. Thank you guys for all you do!

My Spondy and I thank you both for bringing this condition to the forefront. When I was diagnosed with Grade 1 many years ago, I cried all the way home because the Neurosurgeon told me a fusion was the only answer? A second opinion from an Orthopedic surgeon gave me the nerve pain relief I needed. Couldn’t stand for more than 2 minutes without left leg going numb all the way to the foot and excruciating pain. Because the slippage narrowed the opening for the nerve was the problem along with stenosis. It’s an unending condition to live with but I won’t give up. Still very active but unable to walk or stand for too long, like Bob. The back gets tired and hurts. I hope this helps someone else reading this because the slippage causes a narrowing for the nerve to flow thru. Thanks again for all your tips! 💕Annmarie
I have Grade 2 Spondy and it acts up when I sit somewhere for too long or when I stand for too long. My doc told me to get an mri and I did, after results i was refered to a ortho surgeon bc of possible nerve damage. What helps you with your nerve pain? Ice helps for a little bit but doesnt last along with ibprofen and naproxen. Ive been diagnosed in 2012 and was 14 and im not 22 and im in the worst pain than I have ever been and im more scared. I have recently been diagnosed with this condition same L4 on L5 like you. What about sitting all day long for work. Can you give suggestions for how to sit properly to support this condition and not make it worse. Thx !
What about jobs, I got hired by Walmart to work as online grocery shopping and 8 hours on my feet seems painful after work. I began using a back brace and it helps a bit. I got an offer to work at pep boys as a technician but I am concerned. To me is depressing because I used to be active.
Queuing in line is a nightmare. Normally in agony when I get to the start of the line. By the time I get to the checkout I am grimacing. Now losing weight and getting stronger my "vertical time" is extended from 4 minutes to about 15.
We are dealing with symptoms, but can you FIX spondylolisthesis without surgery? I have a slip and it is severely compressing nerve roots for the legs, my legs are heavy and also atrophy due to less use. Besides surgery is there ANY way to bring the slipped disk or vertebra back into alignment without surgery? Can a spinal decompression machine actually increase disc size or pull it back to shape? I hate the idea of surgery and wonder if anyone has FIXED their spondy not just managed the symptoms. Plz respond 😁
I'm not a doctor but I have a spondylolisthesis meself, work in the medical field and have been to chiropractors, interventional pain doc's, and work with spine surgeons. For the most part no you cant move it back. I think some chiropractor have some limited results in very specific injuries. But for mine (stage 1) no it will not go back without surgery. But keeping it stable through therapy and regular exercise helps a lot but dont actually move it back. Depending on what's going on there are pain injections or ablations that can be done.

Hi guys, love your videos. Q: When Brad was laying over the red ball face down, and then arched his back upwards, does this motion aggravate Spondylolisthesis? ... I was recently told I have Grade 1.
I KNOW this is what I have been suffering from and it has been increasing pain wise within the last year and I am a heated a yoga instructor and I believe square hips splits was the catalyst to this flare that has seemed to be so prolonged. My question is WHOM do I see first to be diagnosed with this? What specialist? Thank you guys this was such a breath of fresh air - I have been going to a chiropractor and just diagnosed with an anterior pelvic tilt with a distended sacrum .. but I HAVE ALWAYS KNOWN it was more than this and chiropractic work has done nothing and I am a very active fit person so I need to get this figured out ASAP. Sitting for long periods of time as a night nurse before I chose the career path of becoming an RYT I would have to bring a donut to sit all night bc the pain was so severe. I refuse any pain medicine so holistic is my preferred method. I live in Kansas City Missouri GIVE A GIRL SOME REFFERALS!

I understand they say to stop activities that make it worse. But I’ve been a runner for years. It’s hard to stop running when it’s been something I enjoyed doing for so long. What is your advice at the point where you’re extremely limited even walking is difficult. Do you recommend surgery?
Brother I did long research if okey without activities that's okey then, just sitting at home . N if you want life back surgery is only way. Even I can't run walk long . Grade1
Any suggestions for surfers? The pop up (going from prone position to standing) puts tremendous force and aggravates the spondy issue. i am hoping to put off sups, boogie boards and the like for as long as i can. thanks
Standing and walking is when my feet tingle. I don't see how walking is good for spondylolisthesis. While walking, I think gravity puts pressure on my spine, compressing it. It is horribly uncomfortable to walk with tingling feet.
What about weight-bearing exs. with spondylolisthesis? I have osteopenia and I need to strengthen bones in my hip and lower back. I am worried that the jumping exs. are bad for the spondy? And lunges?

I found that my lack of core strength and stomach gripping was causing my lower back muscles to spasm when I did certain activities and exercises- sometimes pain at 10. I discovered I had knots in the muscles of my low back and gluteus medius - when I wall massage with tennis ball in those painful knotted areas the pain ALL goes away. (I also have spondy). Check out stomach gripping - I had no idea I’d been doing this all my life. So, core work, rehab the stomach gripping (lots of info online, yoga (no upward dog or other big extensions)and self massage has been on par with miraculous compared with the debilitating pain I’ve had. Do you think that the cold immersion like the Wim Hof method could be harmful for the spondylo? Thanks! I have a spondylo but also an auto-immune disease that could be help a lot by the Cold Lake!
What are some good/safe leg strengthening exercises? Or just see what your body allows, after building core muscles?
Very nice information Sir, I never seen
Thanks Bob n Brad!!!!! So thankful for you guys!!!!!!
chilling in a hammock is good also
bends the back and no body pressure
Smoke hella indica and fuggetaboutit
Do these exercises apply to anterolisthesis ?
I have recently been diagnosed with this condition same L4 on L5 like you. What about sitting all day long for work. Can you give suggestions for how to sit properly to support this condition and not make it worse. Thx !
Hi, ive been diagnosed with the same condition. How you feel nowadays?
What about jobs, I got hired by Walmart to work as online grocery shopping and 8 hours on my feet seems painful after work. I began using a back brace and it helps a bit. I got an offer to work at pep boys as a technician but I am concerned. To me is depressing because I used to be active.
Same bro , either go for surgery then .
Hugs. You're not alone.
Plz respond 😁
did you get a response?
"stabilise the spine to prevent it slipping further" but can we push the vertebral back in the original position?
vico khang a
This is a very good question in which if like to know also.
Me too
even i wana know if its possible.
Thank you
Just love how you both do videos that hit a problem that we all have one time or another😉.
I have this condition. It’s level one but still taking a lot of energy out of me. My biggest problem is leg pain. Usually on my sheen and ankle. Any suggestions or solutions?
You have helped me live with this condition
I have this too (Spondylolisthesis grade 2 just like Brad). I just found out a few months back so this video was very helpful. Thanks.
As a side note, I saw you struggling with the pronunciation again so I thought I'd tell you my new trick in remembering it. The word "LIST" is in the middle of the word. I did add another "T" but, that's so I could emphasize the word "list". Here's how it looks:
Spondy-lo-LIST-thesis.
Anyhoo...
Annettesmusic thx for the pronunciation tip... I said it aloud 4x to cement it in my mind AND on my lips!
Nice. And thanks for letting me know Sage. I struggled with that word for months. P.S. Like your towel idea. And not one stitch has to be made!
Annettesmusic Karla Dawn Jones How are you now sir ? I have the same thing like you .
can you advice me what are yo doing ?
can you running or play football? what is your Exercises that suit for you and thanks
Annettesmusic Hey m also suffering from Spondylolysthesis with osteoporosis but not a single treatment gives me relief from pain. M just 29 yrs old sometimes the lower back pain very worsen after doing physical activities. So i can understand ur condition. Take care...
Wow this is very smart! This was so helpful thank you for sharing.
Can I lift weights after recovering?
Is it possible to have Spondylolisthesis in the sacrum? I get all the symptoms when I stand in one place for 10 minutes or when I'm decorating. Sitting down makes it easier for a while. The pain I get in my lower back means I'm often out of action for 3 days at a time
Great video!
Hi ...I wana ask ..can you please tell me where I can find this brace ? Show a link please.
For two years Iv had constant pain I’m taking painkillers every four hours around the clock . Even washing a cup brings me to tears . Night time the leg pain stops me from sleeping . I can’t stand still for even a minute I just don’t know what to do . Nobody seems to be taking my pain serious it’s like giving birth daily the pain in my leg is just to much to take and the pain is spreading
You qualify for surgery judging by your description of pain. Have you done it yet?
Thanks for the advices
Should you wait for some time after a flare up before doing the core exercises? Currently experiencing sciatic sensations still and I'm not sure.
In my experience you should not increase core exercises after flare up but decrease or eliminate for some time.
Hi Bob & Brad. Greetings From Scotland. I've just been diagnosed with L5/S1 Pars defect after 3yrs of pain. I'm hoping to avoid Surgery and give PT a proper go now I know what it is. I've watched you're other Video explaining The 3x Types. Is this Video Exercises suitable for me or would you recommend one of your other Videos? I've ended up in bed a lot with the pain when it Flares up. Many Thanks and stay safe 🏴 🇺🇸
I love your stuff guys!
You guys are awesome!!!
Keep up the great work!
Keep the videos coming !
Greeting from China
I need some too. I have virtually zero disc spaces in my whole spine, spondylitis spondyliciosis, forward pelvic tilt, rotation both ways.
Good stuff
Will you take on virtual parients?
Not sure where I can find the products you use. Can you direct me to location.
i sneezed in the toilet while sitting and bending forward, it hurts like hell all of sudden, now i have this spondy thing wth
can you please answer if your spondy is unstable...Pars fracture-how many mm
Hey Brad, can you show us the ab exercises you do that don't hurt your spondy?
Hi Brad. I hope you will answer here but are you back to kneeboarding? I want to be able to get back to waterskiing, windsurfing, skiing and martial arts. Thanks.
What’s the brand of that black memory lumbar spine support?
Any special considerations for lateral listhesis?
Hello Gentleman, I can not find where to purchase that device that one of you were wearing around your waist!.. ( don’t know who’s who).. sorry..it is to stabilize you in the waist area.. I really need that!!, I would be most grateful to learn where to buy.. thanks a bunch👍🏼
L5 is shifted forward no doctor have been done anything except for surgery and that was 7 years ago am 47 now and some movements are bad for me cannot even walk properly.but if i don't exercise i will be very depressed.
Is sitting in a flexion position good for Spondylolisthesis and Spinal Stenosis? Thank you.
Does goin to chiropractic spinal decompression help to fix grade 2 and if so how many sessions are recommended
Awesome
Ul r so funny
Great tips... sooo practical
Love to watch ur videos
They say do rotation?
And also, do you think swimming help of not?
Brad must do some strength training in order to have those guns!!
MANY THANKS FOR SHARING
Really nice😊
Hello may I ask about axcercises for retrolistesis of c5 c6?
We do not currently have a video on that topic, however I will add it to our to-do list! Thank you for the suggestion!
Hello, thank you guys for this video.
I have an important spondylo L5 to S1 Grade II. almost 1/3 advanced on the sacrum, do you think with theses excercices/tecniques, the glide could reverse ? Thank you so much
Thanks for your advice.
Where to get the heat back wrap
can I use my aeroswing with spondolisthesis??
i have a pars defect in my L5 is it also known as spondylolistisis?
That's spondylolysis
Do you have symptoms ?
How are you now?
Respond please.
are there any exercises that you should not do if you have a degenerative spondylisthesis?
I do Pilates and I have this but my dr says no Pilates because of crunches and leg lifts ... even though I say it doesn’t hurt me he said it will In the long run
When do you use heat vs cold? Thanks.
I have lumbar spondylolisthesis in L5 S1 with pars defect, plus multilevel spondylosis in thoracic and degeneration in cervical. I'm now having numb and tingling in both legs mostly when I lay down. My doc isn't helping me...trying to say I probably have fibromyalgia with it and can't help me unless I take pills for fibro. 😳
Grade1
@@samippudke How are you now? Did you had the surgery
Thank you :)
Any suggestions for surfers?
The pop up (going from prone position to standing) puts tremendous force and aggravates the spondy issue.
i am hoping to put off sups, boogie boards and the like for as long as i can.
thanks
My wife is a spondy. Can she bounce on a rebounder (mini trampoline) without causing more damage?
Standing and walking is when my feet tingle. I don't see how walking is good for spondylolisthesis. While walking, I think gravity puts pressure on my spine, compressing it. It is horribly uncomfortable to walk with tingling feet.
What about weight-bearing exs. with spondylolisthesis? I have osteopenia and I need to strengthen bones in my hip and lower back. I am worried that the jumping exs. are bad for the spondy? And lunges?
What if I have this on upper back? How do I treat this please?
Can you say what kind of infrared heating pad you're using? I have diagnosed spondylolethesis at L4/5. I've had to use a walker at one point when it was real bad!
This is the Thermotex Platinum. Here is the link if you're interested: www.thermotex.com/bobandbrad
@@BobandBrad Thank you so much! I appreciate it!
Can one use a wobble chair with this condition?
I have hypermobility syndrome and spondylolisthesis at the L5-S1. Sleeping, even with a bolster, is getting more and more painful. I don't get leg pain but lots of lower back pain. All 3 medical opinions I have received so far have told me that a fusion is my only treatment option. Any tips on sleeping better?
Go for surgery . It's only way , even I have same grade 1 . My sleeping is completely disturbing. Which I can't refresh in morning.
Blessings.
Hi my mother 66vyrs old has got following MRI findings

Left paracentral herniation of L4-L5 disc is seen indenting left L5 nerve root
Posterior bulge of L5- S1 disc is seen abutting both S1 nerve roots.
Can you please help me or guide me whether she can feel better by doing physiotherapy exercise , or using lumbar support or back support belt ,or by using hot pack as you suggested in video.
Pl reply and let me know whether she can feel better without surgery .
I was diagnosed with this 5 years ago due to a slip n fall. Level 2.

At least 3 - 5 times per week.
What if you have a hemangioma where you have this problem on the spine? I feel so helpless 😞

What about using an inversion table? Helpful or harmful?
My partner was told by a PT that inversion table can be used, but only on a slight angle -- not all the way inverted.

Would a chiro drop table maneuver work to reposition the vertebrae so it’s aligned with the bottom one then object prolo or prp stuff in there to make sure the ligs heal in that position?
Please post the 4 core excercises that you use 🙏 thanks
