Also important to note is that larger tires will give you a lower than accurate MPH speedometer reading unless it is corrected.

Gotta give Scotty credit for adapting and being fearless regarding technology that actually benefits his automotive interests. Many guys would just throw up their hands in frustration and say, "I'm retiring - I don't need this.". Scotty can see the need and better still is willing to read/study/learn all about new stuff.

Because new cars ARE cheap plastic, obsolescence. Rich pricks never own them for more then few years, then trade them in for a new one, that makes auto manufacturers make them really crappy so very little value secondhand market.

I’ve been down the lifted truck road when I had my Nissan titan. It looked amazing but the truck simply isn’t designed for it. Went through 3 power steering racks in 3 years and 2 sets of tires lasted 20k miles. Got the xterra pro4x now and happy to say I love stock height.

I'm surprised he didn't mention keeping the stock upper control arms with the lift. Also, Viair compressors are the best. For a truck like that you might want a better (larger) model than Scotty's. They also come with 20' air hoses so no need to splice the wiring.

I have a fellow Veteran friend who was an Army mechanic during the Viet Nam years. Everywhere he went his mechanical prowess preceded him. He would get sellers to lower their asking price, and he would get his friends bargains on vehicle purchases

This is something my dad would say! I think lifted truck s are cool if done with the proper geometry/ quality parts.
I have a 2.5” leveling kit and 295/65r20 (34.5x11.5 ish) on my f150 and I may be biased but it’s honestly the perfect look for a truck in my opinion. Very beefy and tires fill out the wheel well but don’t look like they’re “crowding” it, no rubbing either. The level gives it a very lifted look and with the tires everyone always asks or assumes it’s lifted anyway. Classy, rugged, lifted slightly, and not too yeehaw but just enough 👌

@Glasspack40 Since no one else answered you, I will. Lifting a 2WD is a waste of time because the point of lifting a truck is to make it more capable OFF ROAD, Scotty has pointed out why it makes the LESS capable ON ROAD. A 2WD truck isn't capable of handling any terrain that a lifted 4WD might encounter on a trail or anywhere off road.

His grandpa taught him that when taking the 2wd Tundra off-roading all he has to do is deflate the tires and he'll have good enough traction. Keep that pump handy when you're ready to get back on the highway. It's called a poor-man's 4wheel drive system

Just got an ‘07 tundra SR5, 4,7L V8, Reg Cab, short/regular bed (not a long bed), 140k miles, 2.5-3” lift, aftermarket 18” wheels with 275/65/18 tires, tinted windows 20%, brand new front end, and some rust on the rear frame. Treated it with ospho and undercoating. Replaced the factory trailer hitch with a huge class V Curt hitch. Runs and pulls like a dream

I didn't know that about the AWD, where you have to replace all four tires at once. But, it makes perfect sense.
The few times I need to go off road I just use my 4x4 tractor. Having a front loader and a backhoe is a nice bonus too.

Its a decent price but considering its 2wd with 200k seems reasonable. At least here in Canada, ive been looking at them for a year now. Technically here you can’t certify it lifted unless you “know somebody” as well as the cracked windshield and modified bumpers. Wouldn’t supposed to “pass” a safety.

@@Pantelifts10 the truck in the video is a 2wd and has 321,000kms. On top of that Its higher in the front than in the back and doesn’t have the factory bumpers. From what i have seen in Canada that actually hurts the value.

My friend had a lifted 2018 Silverado Z71 and it was fun.... for sometime
He eventually traded it in for a 2018 Mustang GT 6-speed manual and he enjoys it more than he did with the truck
That's no surprise. A Z71 isn't even remotely interesting. A 6 speed GT is a lot of fun.

Imagine you’re trying to sell a car and Scotty pulls up with his grandson only to offer you the lowest fair price for its mechanical condition.
there's also a very good air pump that I use which utilizes the dc outlet for the car, it's made by bosch and has a digital gage that you can set and just wait. It will take longer but no opening the hood required, and best of all, you can use it while the engine is running. It is plastic but I've had it for years and works amazing.
