Those throttle wacks NEVER get old. I've stood next to a transporter for at least 50 wacks over the years and even when your ready for one, it makes you jump, blurs your vision and you feel like a bomb exploded, but your survived it. It's a total adrenaline rush pretty much like it feels after you drive a top fuel car.
Thats one thing I miss at the track, love the throttle, Wacks. I loved watching people jump out of their skin when it was executed . I also loved it when the top fuel cars did the switch over to Nitro and the crowd would move away really fast . I'm the one that would move closer to it .Great video again Clay and I enjoy each and every one of them . Baby D sounds amazing and I cant wait until your next dyno session . Take care and catch you on your next video sir.
I have had the luxury of both being at the track back when they did throttle whacks and also the luxury of being on the starting line for nitro cars. It's an experience you will never forget and you will never forget what it feels like in the chest. Thanks for the great show Clay. I think the folks at Edelbrock will remember that forever.
we did a display in a Ford dealer with the FC.. Owner of the place insisted we fire up the car for them.. (inside) He got out a checkbook and the car owner agreed with a warning about what was going to happen... Well... it was understated when all the drop ceiling, lights and office ceilings caved in... problem was getting the car shut off and getting out of the building.. (could not breath) Had to be one of the funniest things I had seen in all our match racing..
Kaylynn also starts the car and drives the rig... better watch out she'll be driving soon! LOL! I think all the nitro teams should bring back the throttle whack just for the fans. Even the crews love it! Make it mandatory!
I've only been watching your channel since Kevin (KSR) and you did a video together and I got hooked. This one here is one of the best (feel good moments) that I've experienced within your auto racing community! Thanks so much for this!
That's the same time I was first introduced to Clay's channel, have enjoyed all the videos and, of course, have become a subscriber. Clay is very personable, even when he's at the track and is busy.
Best. Video. EVER! Replayed The Big Whack(tm) a few times, frame by framed it - loved that guy with the cellphone getting up and running away, or blown away... probably first one then the other. But it was all the really great people - all car and horsepower afficionados - that was just a whole bunch of warm fuzzies to watch. Signing the broken window was class btw, kind of a "yeah technically we broke it, but it's art now. Your smile is all the thanks we need" moment 😅 Never change!
I can still see Scott trying to put his foot through the floor on a throttle wack in my mind's eye, he seemed to enjoy it as much as any crowd member did .rip buddy ❤️
So awesome! We love Edelbrock and are glad to see the company carry on after Vic Jr's passing. I love the throttle whacks. You didn't exactly tell us why there aren't throttle whacks at the track anymore.
Fantastic to watch did not no the lady drove the lorry not being sexist she impress me every time i see or here very clever lady ps all your people are so natural top show thanks for the inside look have nothing like it in England thanks
Rowdy. I remember my neighbor had a dinner party for Boeing executives and my Dad did a Wack test in our driveway and knocked his sliding glass door out 300 ft away. Like you it was Legendary everyone will always remember that me included. Thanks for sharing. You rock brother!
Yes yes yes what a coincidence from my last comment! Thank you so much I wish I could be there in person. Clay I have a huge smile on my face that the devil couldn't remove! Thank you so much! Jeff from western Pennsylvania
When I first started drag racing back in the 80’s and went to my first race that had Nitro cars I fell in love with the “throttle wacks.” I remember being at an IHRA event and the Top Fuel car teams all started their cars one by one in succession and did throttle wacks. Just imagine 20 plus teams starting cars starting their cars one by one and then wacking the throttle and seating their clutches
That whack was so cool. So much better without the throttle stop, lmao. Everyone jumped, even Kaylin. Loved the employees ride, some amazing rides. As always, Thank you taking the time to do these videos. Be safe and keep Stompin!
Signing the cracked window is pure old skool drag racing 👍👍 I hope they can cover the glass pane with a clear film to prevent it flexing/ protect the signatures and keep it in place as a reminder of " throttle wack day"
Growing up in the Memphis area I remember a neighbor of ours in the 80s. Last name Smiltniks. I remember seeing RHS and comp cams banners in his garage. Cool company.
Just try explaining the broken window to the insurance company. "We'll there was a top fuel car in the parking lot and the window just broke. No really"
Yeeehaaaaaa! Haha awesome. I miss that so much. It’s been years since I’ve been near one in person. Literally back when you were still racing IHRA in Grandbend!
That was AWESOME. I hope I get to experience that 1 TIME before I ever leave this earth. Maybe some time I could make to to VEGAS, WHEN I HIT THE LOTTERY.
Scott Kalitta, Clay Millican and Larry Dixon... my top 3 pilot's of this Era... god speed Scott 🙏 I love you and miss you.. ❤ Clay you are the BEST.. WHY DONT THEY SEAT THE CLUTCH ANYMORE( THROTTLE WHACK)
NHRA should make throttle wacks MANDATORY!!!! If everyone does it than there is no disadvantage to do it!!!! And it is what the fans want !!! Don't forget that the event is more than competition, it is also the SHOW !!!!!😁😁😁😁😁😁🍺🍺
2:40 Dang! I have the OEM 9.25" 3.55 with the 5 speed auto and run about 1900 at 70. Running that gear in Baby D with the 6spd, no need for a GearVendors! Maybe some fuel great economy on your way to Wack a race car that doesn't lol
Thats funny about the jumpers. As a native Floridian i am not stranger to the gators back in the day 80's when all the teams would seat clutch's my to oldest son's were about 8 and 7 and i took them right up to a team starting a TF car i put my hands on each shoulder cause i knew wah was coming and yep they jumped tried to run . its great memorys for me
Congratulations on being inducted to the Hall of Fame I can't think of any person more deserving than you
That sa super nic of kelin ❤ Tomy Québec Canada
That Throttle Wacks was stepin' on the Looooouuuuudddddd peddle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was awesome!!!

@@dakotaautosales9673 Good possibility ha ha
As a kid when you break a window you get grounded for a week.
As an adult you just sign the window.
Cool!
Boy, you GOT THAT RIGHT.
Maybe we should make the kids SIGN the windows they break and they can preserve them for their adult years . . .

Taking off the throttle stop, breaking glass, scaring everyone in the area, you guys are trouble. Lol
Love the videos!

The neighbor was pissed to say the least. If It's too loud your too old. My old man used to say. Deal with it.
That and the smell are the best 2 things ever. Thank y’all so much
Clay I pray you find more money and parts. Joe has killed us looking for parts. And price has doubled. Love you clay. You are the king

The whack whack is back” just for this warmup! I know it messes with the clutch pacs during race week, but it’s awesome to hear again!! Whoop whoop!!
That was one of your best videos. See them people jump when you hit the throttle was EPIC.
Good to see you! Thanks for dragging the car and BabyD out for the event!
Sooo Awsome 💕🇸🇪👍 Keep stompin it😀

Totally awesome!
Mark is a great guy. He's Canadian and I think my engine was one of the last he built before he headed down there with Comp.
Growing up in the Memphis area I remember a neighbor of ours in the 80s. Last name Smiltniks. I remember seeing RHS and comp cams banners in his garage. Cool company.
Something you don't see anymore nice full-size parking spaces. No door dings.😄
Just try explaining the broken window to the insurance company. "We'll there was a top fuel car in the parking lot and the window just broke. No really"
At 4:53 you can see the butterflies COMPLETELY OPEN! Now that is one heck of a throttle whack.
NHRA needs to bring the throttle wack back to all top fuel teams. It was awesome!!
Thank Clay for posting this amazing throttle wacks !. Definitely this is the most wanted experience of all in my bucket list !.😊👍

When you came over from AHRA I didn't care much for you. Over the years you've become one of my favorite drivers and drag racing personalities.
What an absolute BEAST! That throttle blip registered on the USGS Richter scale clear up in Alaska. 😆
That was AWESOME. I hope I get to experience that 1 TIME before I ever leave this earth. Maybe some time I could make to to VEGAS, WHEN I HIT THE LOTTERY.
Felt that all the way in Longview, TX.👍👊
HELL YEAH that's what I miss at the NHRA races we used to run from car to car for throttle wacks

I think we found a winner for the rev off. That dragster is like a gun going off next to your ear.
11,00f0 HP in a fraction of a second... That is so fricking cool..!!
That was awesome. Probably never see that now in Australia with so few Top Fuel cars.
