You know I have this incredible ability to learn things rapidly. Welding, gunsmithing, heavy equipment operation, heavy equipment hauling, I've excelled in a lot of fields......micro soldering and electronic repair in general AINT NO JOKE. It took me some serious time and dedication to get decent at. Your videos and expertise absolutely motivated me and kept me going through the process. If you want to get into this be prepared to invest a TON of time into practicing and failing. Also be prepared to invest in equipment. And the most important thing is be prepared to watch countless northridgefix videos to ensure you're doing things properly 😉
What I learned as a dental technician was "First comes the craft, then the ego" aka "Learn your craft before getting creative". There´s a reason you have to learn a trade for years in Germany before you receive your credentials.
Just found your channel and your commentary inbetween repairing and explaining your proces always cracks me up. Like ''if you want to write a thesis on why this error happens, be my guest, but here we fix and send an invoice. We keep the ball rolling.''
I was able to fix someone's PS5 thanks to you and a few other videos, but mostly you, I lost the Cap that goes in front of the HDMI and you guys shipped it really quickly, Thank you for that
"Hiroshima and then they send it to us" - I'm crying 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Alex if you retire one day, please consider becoming a comedian telling all the stories from the repair shop!
G,day from Sydney Australia. Great repair and quality checking each pin to copper wire connection. I like the DMM rubber band to the LCD screen arm. 🌏🇦🇺
I've been doing electronics repairs for my work for over 16 years now. My main schtick is arcade... so my sister-in-law brings me a ps5 to repair the HDMI port. (she supplied the replacement port and liquid metal thermal compound) ... man oh man... ... i've soldered some tiny things in the past, but damn, this was really something. luckily there was no pads ripped off and it went back on smooth. didn't even lose the bypass cap :D
Got bored watching Cleetus MacFarland do back flips in a helicopter, so i stopped the video and came to this video. Shows how much more entertaining it is.
It would also be nice to do dedicated videos on how to test inductors, as well as capacitors and resistors and show everyone what the meter is set to, it would also be nice for the viewers to see the values on the meter as you do your test that would really go along way to teach your viewers how to properly use the meter and what settings you have it on to actually see the values, just suggestion many thanks. Keep up the great work, Alex.🤗
@jafab5265 you can test capacitors in diode/continuity mode.... one side of the cap would be short to ground, and the other would be just like the positive side in continuity mode. Then diode mode you is also similar.
Please make a video explaining how the hell so many people rip hdmis to so many devices. Never in all my devices had i a loose hdmi , not to mention a ripped one. How easy it is for people to rip one ?
A lot of HDMI cables are stiff. Plus some folks move their consoles between homes or friends and set them up in front of the TV, and/or vertically. If you use a stiff cable and tip over the console that will easily rip off the port.
All it takes is a little imagination. Imagine a family with kids and pets. The ps5 or Xbox is connected to the living room TV, it sits on a cabinet or it's pulled out of a cabinet and placed on the floor. Many things can happen, kids step/trip on the hdmi cable, do a tug of war with the console, pets knock it off a cabinet etc. or the parents or housekeeper clean the room and knock the console on the floor. The console is roughly shoved into a cabinet with hdmi cable still plugged in after use, kids may be angry to stop gaming, told to clear up, use unreasonable force and off pops the hdmi connector.
@Mister_Michael Unless they think that inserting and removing the hdmi cable is a gym exercice that should be done fast and hard , i don't see how it is possible for so many ripped hdmis.
They can fall with HDMI cable attached and screw up connector or they moving the PS5 or whatever and hit the cable while installed. It happens, hard to do though
@NorthbridgeFix I agree. For everyone who wants to do some repairs on devices you use and never or barely did it. Find somewhere some broken devices to practice on them BEFORE you do it on your device. On video it looks simple but believe me, it is not. And when you get confident enough you can do the actual repair do it. Have an amazing day people :D
You can benefit from the workshop you're organizing by identifying talented students. If you come across someone with exceptional skills, you can offer them a position at your workshop, especially since you've been searching for a technician for a long time.
Yeah this should be done by professionals. I got mine fixed by these guys Tech Device Repair. Free Assessment and they charged after the successful repair
I've been into electronics and soldering for many years and recently the last couple have started getting more into it including logic fault finding and SMD rework. I do some component level repair of larger consumer electronics and PC's for my friends phone repair shop and recently they gave me a couple of PS5s to do (first time) and asked me to teach them. Let me just say this is not a job for a beginner! The pins are tiny! It requires proper tools and equipment and experience/practice! The first one I got off and replaced successfully though it took me quite a while learning the method. The second I got off much quicker but upon tagging down the last couple of pins, the iron/solder ate that stupid tiny decoupling cap! 🤦♂️ With no replacements, all I could do is reassemble and hope it was just for non-essential filtering! Unfortunately, for whatever reason, the console still had no video output 😔 I think what didn't help is my lack of microscope, in its place I use my Canon 5D with 100mm macro lens and tripod! 😅 It looks towards down on the board rather than down from directly above, meaning my view can be obscured at times. Also, I've only ever soldered a few HDMI with larger pins before. Thankfully everyone was ok, accidents do happen after all and the console went to the 3rd party repair center they also use. I will be both getting a microscope and practicing on a few more scrap boards before I take on anymore customer PS5s and teach my friend fully how to do it though, they have even more to learn than me considering they don't microsolder! Another 'better than factory!' repair as ever my friend and thank you for all the tips. I think I might try the reflow method next. All the best from the UK 👊
Thank you for all of your hard work sharing your knowledge. If I might ask, what temp and air speed do you generally use for PS5s and Xbox Series. I find the thicker boards to be more troublesome than older systems. I've done many HDMI port replacements, but often struggle with only the newer consoles.
Hey Man nice work... Since you repair laptop too I would like to know if my laptop is at 100% charge and still plugged in will it bypass and use the mains directly for power supply ? or still draw it from battery and charges then and there?
“A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing” You got to know where your limits are, I can solder, did hundreds of “through hole” circuits and components, even some surface mount circuits. But right now I’m shaking like EU economy, I’d be lucky to successfully solder a car battery terminal 🤣
For anyone looking to learn how to make these repairs, DVD and Blu-ray players have become exceedingly inexpensive, and most have an HDMI port or two on them. It's a lot less expensive to ruin a piece of cheap outdated tech than it is to ruin expensive tech.
I learnt something today. You can hold up your meter with rubber bands! 16:17. Thank you BigBoss. 😁👍
Which is how mine is held up 😀
That's an evil plan. Show people how to fix things, they break it and you fix it. Genius.

long time ago you had to do at least 10 years before your considered a starting Master Tech

Great repair.🏆
Yes, each time I have ordered something, it was shipped the same day. 🏆🏆

There's also the drop down technic, use flux and mix the solder first with 180° unleaded solder, heat up the pads and drop down the connector 😊
This guy is good, i think he should make money doing this.
lol he does

Big boss saying bismillah when turning it on. We do the same in our shop 👍👍👍
He always said that in many videos
Thats nice.. Love your work! I apply solder on the HDMI Port pins also on PCB pads. They connect better. 😀
This repair is better than the factory one
Please do a video explaining how to measure mosfects and in what modes then what the expected reading should be 🙏

that's what i was thinking too, i guess more people don't take care of their devices

...... and always, well done 👌
Respect. A “Hiroshima” complete with hideous scratches and ripped pads, still you managed to repair it. Somebody must be very happy.

Usually max temperature. Something like 1000 or 1100 F. As for speed I would say in the middle.
Big boss is perfect job !!!
hi, what flux do you use? it is great!

Hello , I follow you , from Romania , I wonder how long a warranty is offered for such a repair , Thank you
Why do people even think for one minute they can fix it! Come on!!! That's like walking into a dojo with no experience asking for a fight!!! Dumb!!
I got my phd on RUclips after watching 20 videos.
Nice.
Amazing 😘
