Normally I find unboxing videos inane but homeless nailed it right there. I made bore welder many years ago to eliminate having to set up and break down of the line boring machine. It was essentially similar to your boring bar but had the feed thread cut into the bar itself and ran in bronze bushings and a fixed nut. Threads were left with a large flat at the crest, mitigating wear. A 3mm pitch is optimal for layer buildup. Driving the bar was done via a simple gear train with an idler acting as a clutch which also allowed manual rasing and lowering of the bar using a hand wheel. Wire feed was an old mig welder wire feeder and the spool was also attached to the bar top so everything went around with the bar. This arrangement eliminates the wire flicking caused by the wind up using a fixed spool and rotating contact tip. Cut off wheels make excellent draught excluders simply held up to the bore bottom. They also create a pool of shielding gas in the bore which is good for arc stability. Side benefit was not havng to constantly cut new wire liners.

The engineering skills involved, in all the jobs undertaken in your workshop, never ceases to amaze me. Stellar jobs! Nice work on the filming and editing side too. And ofcourse, no episode is really complete without Homeless playing his part.
Good morning, Kurtis, Karen, and Homie. I have my coffee (extra strong) and looking forward to another tool and die / fabricating tutorial from the master.
I am constantly amazed by the number of huge machines you have at your disposal Kurtis. The cylinder honing machine is amazing and your shop made welding stand works as designed. Thanks for another great video.
Good morning Kurtis, I love the ingenious invention you have made to be able to weld vertically. You are a very ingenious person and everything you do is fantastic. I love seeing your work, which is always an innovation. I look forward to the progress of the Farnna crane. Greetings to Kare and to the homeless 🐾
The amount of work that must come in and out of this shop is amazing! The best part is how you share your new methodologies so others can capitalize off your inventiveness.
I loved how the sound of the welding in the background was a sutle reminder that this was all time being saved thanks to the new tooling. also: That's got to be the best pallet I've ever seen.
It's awesome to see businesses like yours that are successful, and knowing exactly why that is. At the foundation you have integrity (the most important trait, doing what's right even when nobody else is looking), communication (fundamental in every kind of relationship), determination, you share your extensive knowledge, and an outstanding sense-of-hunor!
I've been watching lots of various RUclips videos and as per my observation, this is also one of the channel with zero haters if I'm not mistaken. Good luck (KK) Kurtis and Karen.
Kurtis, here in Las Vegas, NV US, we love you. That being said, my adult son just said... "That's some precision machining....with a 2 by 4." We watch every episode as soon as it appears in our subs. Best time of the day.❤️❤️👍👍
OMG, I swear guys, we made our joke about precision machining when we first saw the stick. We broke down streaming laughing when we heard Karen make the same joke at the end. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I went to the lumberyard the other day, the price of 2x4s is outrageous. I told the supervisor and he said, 'Well they don't just grow on trees!', at which point I left.
@@Horus9339 I bought a $50 4x4 last month. Should have doubled up a pair of 2x4s and saved $40. Live and learn. To be fair, it *was* a very nice 4x4 🙂Every now and then, I pick up a used pallet and break it down. I find the pieces handy for all sorts of non-critical things. If nothing else, they make good kindling (the non-treated ones)
I wonder if you could use a set of hold down v blocks with chains like on the Sunnen hone for the milling machine when you need to clamp big stuff like this. I would think this would be quicker and easier than the machinist stands and other toe clamp type set up. Perhaps you could make a set as a shop made project. Thanks for all your videos, something to look forward to each week.
Eye-bolt on a tee-nut for one end of a chain , then a turn-buckle to another eye-bolt & tee-nut. Using roller-chain like on the hone or a pipe-vise gets more complicated but will sure look nicer!

Just brilliant. What can I say. I am addicted to your vlogs. Thank you for sharing with the rest of us.
I like to watch a person who is good at their trade perform their duties. To me it is poetry in motion.
It is wonderful to see the workshop made tools in action, I feels part of the journey 🙏
Homeless really enjoyed opening up his mail to find a new toy.
PRICELESS watching him being so excited to have a new noisy toy.
Gotta love Homeless. ❤
and his eyes when "Go to your bed!"
@@ronnydowdy7432 I wish I loved anything as much as Homey loves destroying piggies. 😂
I also like the way Homeless destroyed the box or packaging when he gets mail. Lol
@SteifWood Yes I have noticed that too. I have been watching since 2016. Homeless is a star to me.
The amount of work that must come in and out of this shop is amazing! The best part is how you share your new methodologies so others can capitalize off your inventiveness.
Friday morning and a new CEE video. I think it is a good start!
Greetings from Germany
I loved how the sound of the welding in the background was a sutle reminder that this was all time being saved thanks to the new tooling.
also: That's got to be the best pallet I've ever seen.
Wow, got to see several of your machines and your custom built pieces of equipment and tools. . SO AWESOME ! ! ! !
Woohoo !! Its 1am , here we go !!
11:30 PM IN California 11/21...2024
1:30 am central time...glad to see I'm not the only idiot up at this hour watching my fav youtube. lol
Awww, be fair guys, you forgot the 7 pound hammer.
As my old father would say, "Perfection is not a matter of haste"!!! Thank you so much to teach us how things must correctly be done.
I just love the little noises Karen makes as you work sometimes, it is adorable.
That was a lot of work, that vertical welding stand sure paid for itself in a bog like that. Karen, great video as always. Be well and cheers from Texas!
Good to see the shop made tool doing exactly what it was designed to do.
the close-ups on the cutter, the chips, the fixturing and more is one of the reason I love this channel.
Great work!
YES! I've been waiting for some more honing! Always great to see new content!
The more I watch your channel the more I’m convinced I should’ve become a professional machinist. Seems so much more fun than looking at a computer screen all day.
Greeting from Belgium CEE team, another Friday morning, so let's start the day with a CEE video and a cop of coffee 🙂. Talking about heavy V-blocks, In one of HAL's video's they make a reference to Kurtis on how they took Kurtis idea and fabricated there own 🤣.
Have a restful weekend.
Big paw from Sadie & Rønne
Fridays without this videos wouldn't be Fridays ;)
Agree
😂😂😂
Friday night, CEE, Lets Go!
No it’s not, it’s Friday morning ;-)
Absolutely love the efficiency with the bore welding setup, and being able to get other jobs done at the same time.
That new welding stand you manufactured works beautifully. Good Going. Please give a scritch to Homey. Thank you.
Righto guys, you should just keep the bloopers. One-take. I can guarantee, us, the audience, will love it.
Your investments are certainly paying off, overall you must have saved a considerable amount of time now with the big mill and your shop made welding jig. You are a man of many talents.
But remembering his text is not one of them, sadly.
😂
Ok so the time you invested in building your welding stands just paid off , amazing work Kurtis well done my friend , and not forgetting your loverly Karen 💕
When you built the fixtures for the welder, in a previous video, I didn't fully understand the intended use. Wow, bore, weld and finish bore with only one setup of the workpiece. BRILLIANT! I'm sure you have additional uses for them as well. Well done Mate.
I like seeing how your shop made tools, etc. little by little contribute to the efficiency of this one man shop !
The precision and skill involved in machining these cylinders is incredible!
I’ve been hitting the hay at around 3 am on Friday mornings religiously for the past couple of years. I can never seem to wait to watch each video you guys post and always have to watch as soon as it drops! Keep up the amazing work, guys! 💪🏼 - cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Watching from arkansas USA. Big fan! Cheers to the weekend 🍻
Your Tools and the Knowledge on how to repair is UNMATCHED.......
Every time i watch one of these i see a cool new machining technique.
i have no idea why, but i can watch these video's for hours on end for some reason, many others would consider watching these video's like watching paint dry ???
Kurtis you are the best the mining and earthmoving clients you have must save thousands with your repair skills and quality of your workmanship , great to see you shop made tools being used .
Karen top job again on the edit and homie loves unpacking those parcels . Thanks again for the weekly fix
The highlight of the week has arrived! I can't wait to see how this job turns out.
Waited all week!!! Woohoo!!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 best show on RUclips :-)
Thank you Karen for your hard work, skill, and patience with editing and thank you Curtis for your speciality, knowledge, and explanations!!! Have a wonderful weekend you three (that includes Homeee too)
You are so welcome!
As impressed as I am with your machining and welding skills, I'm equally impressed by your problem solving skills Kurtis. I know proper setup is one of the most important part of doing any kind of machining work. You always come up with a solution to make it work and work well. My hat is off to you my friend. Cheers from the USA 😁👍🇺🇸
Oooh another awesome video from you Kurt, keep these up
Also to Karen, we need to have a supercut of your personal favourite outtakes as well as Kurts personal favourite outtakes from 2024 for a Christmas upload to give us all something to laugh at
Kurtis, I love how you used your shop made welder stand and used a pin to center it to the cylinder eye after it was machined out. What a time saver!
Damn that mill is huge!
right from the hi-lo to the bed of the machine. much better and no lengthy set up using other tools. great work.
Greetings all from Humboldt County California.
With the sound of the atmospheric River in the background I trust from Nevada County
The dream of effortless end to end large ram repair has been realized, finally. Congratulations, CEE.
Thanks!
Hey mate, thanks so much for your support! Glad to hear that you enjoyed this particular video. Cheers! Kurtis, Karen & Homey
All new respect for job title " machine set up".
With most skilled labor that its the key, 90% of the work is set up and prep
Thanks folks! Kurtis, must be rewarding to start a project in the morning, finish it that same day, and get paid for it (hopefully) quickly.
Karen, great closeups and editing … I enjoy the shots of the ghost putting the straps up on the fork lift’s forks. Almost like magic.
The Zayer is perfect for this size job.
