Kurtis, for the most part, does only two things: line boring and hydraulic cylinders - mostly for the mining industry. It's a highly regulated environment with only a small handful of metal workers that have the equipment to do it, niche industry. Commercial equipment has to be maintained in almost 'like new' condition, this means repairing stuff that would otherwise have years of service life left in it. It's not surgery though, it's dull repetition, the same thing all day, every day. He is opinionated, this makes him popular on youtube, but it doesn't make him good.
@@nohandleleft Huh? Are you serious? "Kurtis, for the most part, does only two things: line boring and hydraulic cylinders " Seriously? You've never seen him weld? You've never seen him fabricate? You must've missed a lot. Both Issac and Kurtis are masters in what they do. And they both respect each other's work. I do too.
I remember that young Assistant, way back before he could sprout facial hair.. It's amazing how time has flown! He looks to be an upstanding young man Issac! Congratulations!
This type of repair is like an iceberg. The finish welds look like some easy passes that shouldn't take any time. What's not seen is the thought that goes into "how the heck am I going to fix this". Followed by the "sneaking up on the fit up". Then, the final prep and holding everything in place. Yeah, then, just sew it up. Isaac makes it look just so easy. The man is a true artist. A sculptor chips away what isn't the final piece. A welder has to chip even more away and then replace the material removed. Artistry, I say, artistry!
I’ve said before that I think Isaac has to have some engineering background. I’ve seen videos where he improves on the original design, so the failure can’t happen again. That’s more than skill. That’s using his brain.
@@brianburns7211I knew a Brian Burns here in Melbourne, Australia. Passed away from cancer about 3 years ago. Nice bloke. I had known him since 1986 when I was an apprentice. Mark from Melbourne Australia
When Isaac says "I'm not saying this is how to do it, it's how I'm going to do it" you should pay attention. I pick up stuff from his videos all the time on how to approach challenges, devise a plan, and execute it and know when good enough is good enough.
He has a business and life to attend too, although we enjoy his videos we are not that important in life. His family and business take priority over our enjoyment of his skill set so just appreciate what you get when he has time.
I've been welding for over 20 years now nd everytime i watch you working it's like going back to school. Your flame cuts always look awsome and so are your welds.
Fast forward through the cutting?! That's like telling the med student to fast forward through the cutting part of a surgery "how to" video! 😁 Awesome repair! Thanks for sharing.
you always get the tough jobs because you are good at what you do and when you do a job you always make sure that it doesn't breakdown and cause more problems for you and your customer
Between you and Kurtis from CEE, you're both master surgeons with a cutting torch. I'll never fast forward your video's, truly enjoy watching your work. Thank you for sharing, cheers :)
That repair is PROPER, Isaac!👍👍. Prep and execution, dress right dress. Your videos should be part of instruction in all welding and apprenticeship programs. Can’t say students will be the same caliber as you, but it will sure give them the training model to strive for in the field! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Isaac it is freaky how good you are with that torch! I never get enough of your work. Please let your son run that torch more so he gets as good as you!
The needle gun also works as a shot -peener over the weld surface. Distressing and relieves S the weld and helps to reduce cracking Many aren’t aware of this
I'm pretty sure his son does! He gets to watch the "metal magician" pull the rabbit out of the hat every day! That young man is Blessed to have a great dad & teacher so close in his life & he is taking advantage of that special blessing! Kudos to them both! Amen?
I am amazed at your mechanical abilities, and your patience with the repairs. I have been watching your videos for a long time and am always in awe of your capabilities. Thank you for your videos.
No excuses and no bullshit! I'm glad I found your channel, it's a breath of fresh air from most other welding channels on RUclips. Keep up the outstanding work
Nice to see the CEE sticker on the inside of your tool door @23:04. Kurtis would be proud. I've seen him wear one of your hats in his video. Two of the best metalworkers on RUclips! Greetings from Australia. 👍
Personally I love watching the torch work, but I also think it's important to show the weld prep on top of the welding itself, because as this video shows it really is half the work.
Beautiful work. I just did the samething on my 1960 backhoe. Only I do not have a torch i had to use a 4 1/2 inch grinder. I just got it running and was trying the hydraulics out for the first time, and whoever worked on the machine before I got it had put the bucket arms on upside down, I broke them both in half. I used 7018. You can not tell they were broke.
When they only call you for the bigger and more difficult repairs is when you charge accordingly. 👍 I have a few customers who use me to do the difficult repairs that others don’t want to mess with. I’ll do them with the understanding that if they’re looking for “cheap” then I am not their guy.
I know you don't need me to tell you how well you did, but I am going to. fantastic work. You nailed the profile of the break with the bevel which is probably most crucial for reconstructing that for the best possible outcome. Cheers.
This is one of the best videos ever. I love learning by watching and listening to you. Dad, son, and sometimes your father, makes your videos so special. Thank you for sharing this with us.
As usual that is some very excellent work especially the precise torch cuts been doing this kind of work for 50 years and haven't seen it done any better including by me
You sir have laser like Precision with that torch. We are so blessed to be able to bring our children to work with us.These will be some of the best moments and memories yall will have I know some of my best times is with my father.

Issac leaving the real time cutting in there is actually very helpful. no need to speed through the 20 minutes. it's all good. glad you are well. love these videos.

Wow! Broke this in hot weather is insane. We got stuff like this northern alberta and canada due very cold weather but this is first. Thanks expose job done again.😊
It'll never get old just how steady your hands are. You're a veritable metal surgeon. Meanwhile, when i cut... it's like i have the caffeine shakes. :))
You have just the right touch for cutting and gouging and making the neatest welds. I’m pretty sure that if anything breaks again, your weld will hold up better than the original steel. Good work! 🥸👍👀👋✅❗️
The man is a damn surgeon with a gas axe. I don't know of anyone on RUclips that cuts nicer with a torch!!!
its not his first rodeo ?
Lots of people with lots of time using a cutting torch aren’t anywhere near that precise.
Kurtis from CEE does a great job with a torch and gouge setup.
Main thing is a steady hand
I was thinking that very thing. Absolutely clinical.
Fast forward? No way!, It is a pleasure to watch an artist with a torch work!
My thoughts, exactly.
That's what we are here for, just to watch his magic happen!
Took the words right out of my mouth! Seriously! I could watch his torch work for hours and let's not forget arc gouging!
Always a good day when a IC weld pops up to show everyone what a true welder looks like. Truly a master at his craft
Between IC Weld and Kurtis at CEE nobody is close to them.
Curtis at CEE does surgery in a state of the art hospital while Isaac is like a MASH unit doing surgery in the field. Kudos to both!
Haha. thats funny!
